Please try to remember two things - 1. The Bat-Blog is your #1 Source for Great BATMAN Wallpaper Backgrounds. 2. We post brand-new exclusive wallpapers every Wednesday. We call it, "Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday"! OK, this week I thought I would use a Splash Page from a current Batman Comic Book. Actually, it's issue #697. The details are pretty cool & it features a ton of great characters like Batgirl, The Huntress, Red Robin, Man-Bat, Wildcat, & many more! The Artwork was Penciled by Tony S. Daniel, Inked by Sandu Florea, & the Coloring was done by Ian Hannin. Using the one graphic I made 3 versions: The 1st one is pretty straight-forward, it's the comic book page. The 2nd one is the exact same thing but toned-down ( way lighter ) so it won't mess with you being able to see your desktop icons ( some people like that ). And the 3rd one is formatted to fit the screen of an Apple iPod Touch or iPhone. Also, the other iPod Wallpaper is the future cover art to BATMAN # 700, which is starting to become very popular ( this was a request by a Bat-Blog Fan. Plus, we have this as a huge background in another post so be sure to check that out too ). whew! OK, I hope you like these & if not ( ha ha ) just remember that we have 100's more right here. Just click the button down below for some of the recent ones or dig through the Bat-Blog Archives to see everyone we ever made ( located at the left-side of this page, near the middle ).
Here are a few "prototype photos" of the NEAL ADAMS' MAN-BAT Black & White Statue as sculpted by Jason Spyda Adams. In fact, I "stole these images" from Jason's site, ha ha! The pictures show how detailed this thing is gonna be & I can't wait to see the final product. If it's anything like all the other ones then I know it will be extremely cool! I love that DC Direct has been branching out & doing a few villains in the B&W series. Look for MAN-BAT towards the end of 2010 ( around October 13th ). For more information about this product then be sure to click HERE!
For the Art Collectors who collect the BATMAN: BLACK & WHITE Statues here's a brand-new addition just announced by DC Direct. It's the Neal Adams version of The MAN-BAT! This statue will be sculpted by Jason "Spyda" Adams so you know it's gonna be ultra-cool! The pose that Kirk Langstrom ( character's name ) is in is taken from the cover to the classic Detective Comics #400 comic book ( shown down below ). Which, by the way, was the character's very first appearance. Plus it's interesting to note that Neal Adams had actually created this character so that's cool they're making a statue & having him design it. The Retail Price for the B&W Statue will be $ 80.00 & it goes on sale October 13th, 2010. So, towards the end of the year, be sure to keep an eye out for this awesome piece of art!
In the 1970's there was a recording company called POWER RECORDS. They made small books that contained comic book stories & came with a 45 rpm record to listen to. Basically you would listen to the story while reading the book. It sort of taught you how to read & the recording sounded a lot like the old-time radio shows because it has voice actors, music, & sound effects. They were really great! They made a ton of these with all kinds of characters like GI Joe, Six Million Dollar Man, Superman, plus many more. They even made a few of them with Batman characters ( Joker, Scarecrow, Catwoman, etc...). If you click on the Audio Button down below you can listen to the entire story titled, "Robin Meets Man-Bat!". The artwork for the comic was done by none other than the comic book master artist himself, Neal Adams!! I hope that listening to this brings back a lot of fond memories to people who owned it originally. Also, if you have never heard this before, then give it a listen, it's alotta fun!!
Hey, you know what time it is...Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday™! Yes Sir, every Wed we post 2 FREE Batman-Themed Backgrounds for you to enjoy. But this week I thought I would post THREE because I am so cool, ha ha! Actually, the reason I'm doing 3 of them is because I'm trying to make each one as unique as possible. In other words, they are all very different characters...ya know, diversity! The 1st one is using a graphic from the new Batman: The Brave and The Bold cartoon with a real-life photo background. ( Let me know what ya think of that effect ). Then, the 2nd one is a really sharp CGI graphic of the MAN-BAT Villain from the new Lego Batman: The Video Game. This game is really popular. Last, but not least, is a brand-new image of Nightwing. I'm hoping these last 2 are "obscure" enough that somebody out there will appreciate them. I mean, you just don't see these 2 characters that often & believe me, if you need just backgrounds of "Batman" we have around 3000 here at the Bat-Blog - Check the Bat-Archives, lower left-hand side. ( OK, 3000 is an exageration but the number is close! ) If you have a favorite Batman character you'd like to see as wallpaper then please let us know...we aim to please.
Lately I have been sort of obsessed with "Foreign Batman" comic books. They're really hard to find in the US. I like the ones that have a total foreign language on the cover. I can't read them at all, but they're cool to look at, ha ha! Here are a few examples of a title called BATMAN KLASSIK. They're published in Germany by the Hethke Publishing Company. This series reprinted all the classic "Neal Adams Batman" stories from the 1970's, mostly the ones featuring the characters that Neal Adams created, R'as Al Ghul & Man-Bat. I always loved those stories from my childhood so they're kinda great to see in another format. If there are any Bat-Blog Readers from other countries who could send some information or photos that would be great, thanks!
Awhile back a Bat-Blog Reader named Jim sent us these cool photos of some recently acquired Batman collectibles. He said they're from the 1980's & he was happy to find them because he has never seen them before. I gotta admit that I don't remember ever seeing them either...how weird! There's four of them & each one has a different cover with another character. Familiar super-villains include The Penguin, Killer Croc, Man-Bat, & one character I have never heard of before, "World Destroyer"! Also, what is Hawkman doing making an appearance on the Man-Bat cover? Wow! Thanks Jim for sending the wonderful pictures. These have got to be extremely RARE! I want to invite all other readers with weird, unusual, Batman Memorabilia to send some pics today! Sharing fun, obscure, rare information about Batman toy collecting is the main purpose of this page!
