New BATMAN T-SHIRTS Over At SUPERHERO STUFF

The other night I was kinda bored & decided to check out what kind of new Batman Merchandise there was out there. My main focus was some kind of cool T-Shirt or other clothing. One website that I totally love to buy from is called SUPERHERO STUFF. They have great service & an awesome variety. While there I saw they had a bunch of brand-new T-Shirts & here's the one I think I'm going to buy. It has a graphic on the front of a Silver-Age Comic Book Cover that features artwork by Carmine Infantino. Actually, it's Detective Comics # 380. I don't know, I think it's pretty cool. What do you think? Oh, if you're wondering where their website is I placed a link down below, check it out sometime.

New Batman Merchandise Made By NECA To Look Out For!

The other day I was trolling the NECA Website for some new Batman products. Later this year they will release 2 new Batman Items that are not "Dark Knight" movie related but will feature vintage retro-style graphics. The 1st piece of merchandise uses the most retro-thing you can have... it's a large BATMAN GOLDEN AGE 1939 COMIC BOOK COVER Hanging Fabric Wall Scroll. Of course, it's the cover to Detective Comics #27 which we all know was the very first appearance of the caped crusader! It measures about 22" X 32", which is actually kinda BIG! I'm really liking this item & think it will be a "must have"! They also have a vintage ACTION COMICS / SUPERMAN cover too. The next photo shows us some neat SUPERHERO TIN BANKS they're gonna release & one of them is Batman! The other two are Superman & Wonder Woman. These too have retro-graphics because they sort of look like they have 1980's artwork. If anyone knows who the artist is for these please let me know. I think they look kinda like Dick Giordano's artwork. Anyway, here's some new stuff to keep an eye out for & if ANY Bat-Blog Readers hear about ANY brand-new Batman Merchandise then please shoot us an e-mail so we can share. This blog is all about connecting collectors with great information!

BATMAN ARTIST MARSHALL ROGERS DIES AT 57

According to a report from the NEWSARAMA FORUM Marshall Rogers, famed Batman Artist, died Saturday ( March 24th, 2007 ) at the age of 57. No one knows yet exactly how he died & it is kinda shocking because of his young age. His 1st Batman art appearance was in the AUG 1977 Issue of Detective Comics #471 ( Shown in the photo, on the left side, with the Hugo Strange cover.) He had a very precise art style that was sharp & clear. He pencilled Batman & usually teamed up with inker Terry Austin. I used to really love his work as a kid & still do. The BAT-BLOG would like to extent our deepest condolences to his family & friends, he will be greatly missed. Here's a link to the MARSHALL ROGERS FAN PAGE, be sure to check out the ORIGINALS section for some great examples of his work.

FRED HEMBECK's Homage To DETECTIVE COMICS # 27, The First Appearance of Batman!

Here's an amazing piece of art done by none other that the Super-Great FRED HEMBECK! It's sort of an homage to the Classic Golden Age issue of Detective Comics # 27 ( May, 1939 ), which was the very 1st appearance & origin of a strange new comic book character called "The Batman". It's rendered in Hembeck's hilarious "cartoon style" & is instantly recognizable. Be sure to click on the picture for a larger, more detailed, photo. Fred Hembeck is one of our National Treasures! Lately he's been selling his artwork on eBay ( Just search for "Hembeck" ). Here's an example of one of his Classic Comic Book Re-Creations. On the right is the original cover to Detective Comics #398. On the left is his cartoon version...Pure Art!

CLIFF CHIANG Original Comic Book Cover Art BATMAN DETECTIVE COMICS # 815

Here's an example of some really great comic book art! This is the original cover art to Batman's DETECTIVE COMICS # 815. It was done by Cliff Chiang. It's kind of interesting to see how it went from the black & white drawing to the colors they used when printing it. The main figure ( the bad guy ) & his victims are all rendered with black line-work while the background is done with a dark blue/gray color giving it a whole other feel, like as if it's "other-worldly" or "ghost-like"...a very nice graphic effect. We know many readers of this blog collect original comic book art just as passionately as the vintage toy & comic book collectors so please share some of your favorite original art. Send your photos today!

New NEAL ADAMS MAN-BAT Batman Black and White Statue By DC Direct

For the Art Collectors who collect the BATMAN: BLACK & WHITE Statues here's a brand-new addition just announced by DC Direct. It's the Neal Adams version of The MAN-BAT! This statue will be sculpted by Jason "Spyda" Adams so you know it's gonna be ultra-cool! The pose that Kirk Langstrom ( character's name ) is in is taken from the cover to the classic Detective Comics #400 comic book ( shown down below ). Which, by the way, was the character's very first appearance. Plus it's interesting to note that Neal Adams had actually created this character so that's cool they're making a statue & having him design it. The Retail Price for the B&W Statue will be $ 80.00 & it goes on sale October 13th, 2010. So, towards the end of the year, be sure to keep an eye out for this awesome piece of art!

Detective Comics # 58 Classic 1940's Golden Age Comic Book Cover

People today laugh about 10¢ covers being so cheap but I bet that was a LOT of money to a little kid in those days! We try to cover ALL the many aspects of Batman Memorabilia here at the BAT-BLOG so if you have any ideas for different material or photos you want to share then please send them in.

BOB KANE With Micheal Keaton 1989 Batman & Original Art

A few weeks ago we published a photo of the BOB KANE Gravesite Marker & it created alot of response. For the small amount of people who don't know who he is Bob Kane is the guy who co-created Batman in mid-1939. Bob Kane & Bill Finger presented Batman for the 1st time in Detective Comics #27, May, 1939. Here's a photo of Bob with Batman ( Micheal Keaton ) in 1989 ( the 50th Anniversery of the character ) during the 1st movie by Tim Burton. Below that is an original art sketch attributed to Bob Kane, seen on eBay! As a last minute deal we've also posted a photo of the classic comic book cover to Detective Comics #27, Batman's First Appearance! This baby is an ICON of comic book history!!

Italian RAT-MAN Comic Book Does Detective Comics #27 Homage Cover!

In Italy there's a popular comic book by Leo Ortolani called RAT-MAN which is a silly cartoon parody of Batman. For one of the covers he did an homage to the Classic Golden Age Comic Book Cover ( Detective Comics #27 ) which was the very 1st appearance of Batman. Most of the language is Italian so I can't read it but the artwork is really great. I love this parody, it's hilarious!

Bloomingdale's DC COMICS 75th Anniversary T-Shirts ( Batman & Joker )

To celebrate the 75th anniversary of DC Comics Bloomingdale's Department Store is selling some cool Batman & Joker themed T-Shirts. The Vintage Style "Japanese Batman" ( in the 1st photo ) is my personal favorite & I really like the one that looks like a cover to an old Golden Age "Detective Comics" Comic Book. The prices range from $39.00 to around $60, OUCH!

BATMAN, BATGIRL, & CATWOMAN Wallpaper Backgrounds

It's time again for Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday! OK, these Bat-Backgrounds are a lot of fun this week. The 1st one is a close-up shot of the iconic Golden Age graphics that appear on the issue of Detective Comics #27. Which, of course, is the very First Appearance of the character. I've always loved this pic of Batman swooping down on some criminals. Speaking of criminals, the next one is more Modern Day & shows our friends THE BATSQUAD having some fun! These lovely costumed-ladies are from New Jersey. So, if you're even thinking about committing a crime there, don't! They are it's protectors! ( yeah, I know Catwoman is really a Villain, but this one is good & fights crime ).

Well, it looks like the DETECTIVE COMICS #27 recently auctioned off by Heritage Auction Galleries of Dallas, TX is now totally famous as being the world's most expensive auction price for a Golden Age Comic Book! Of course all Batman Fans know this issue to be the very 1st appearance of the Dark Knight in 1939. It sold for $1,075,000. Yes, you read that right, One Million Seventy Five Thousand Dollars!! Just 3 days prior to the Batman comic book selling so well a company called Comic Connect auctioned off a vintage issue of Superman ( Action Comics # 1 ) for 1 million.
