BATMAN BEYOND....RETURNS! ( Comic News & Wallpaper Background )

Here's some really great Bat-News! BATMAN BEYOND will be returning this year in June, well, sort of. Unfortunately it won't be an animated TV series cartoon but it will be the next best thing, it's gonna be a comic book! To be exact, a six-part mini-series from writer Adam Beechen and artist Ryan Benjamin. The graphic up above is the cover artwork for the 1st issue as drawn by Dustin Nguyen. I also made it into a BATMAN BEYOND WALLPAPER BACKGROUND so please click on it for a larger version to brighten your desktop! For a little insight, here's a quote from Writer Adam Beechen,
“The dark future of the legendary animated series comes to the DCU in a six-issue miniseries, as Terry McGinniss, Bruce Wayne’s young successor as Batman, faces his deadliest foe yet — a mystery murderer from the Dark Knight’s past! Old faces return, new allies and enemies step into the light, and the partnership between Terry and Bruce - not to mention Terry and Bruce themselves - might not survive!”

New BATMAN BLACK AND WHITE STATUE: CATWOMAN By Steve Rude

DC Direct recently announced that they will have a special BATMAN: BLACK & WHITE STATUE of CATWOMAN! With that news Selina Kyle now becomes the 1st female character in that line and villain # 3 to join this popular series ( previous villains include The Joker & The Penguin ). The other cool thing about this original design is that it is styled after artwork done by Steve Rude, a fan favorite among most comic book fans. Well, the ones that have any taste anyway! I'm really loving this one. She has that great Silver-Age style...MEOW! Look for it to be released later this year on July 7th, 2010. It's Limited Edition & will run about $80.00.

NEW BATMAN & BATGIRL ONESIES - Baby Toddler Clothing

Awhile back we did a story here at the Bat-Blog about some New DC Comics BATMAN Baby / Toddler Clothes they had at Target. It was a cute little Baby-Sized T-Shirt with the Batman Logo on it. Well, yesterday I received an e-mail from a girl named Tracy who said she didn't have a Target in her area & she asked if I knew of any other sources. Plus, she also asked if I knew about anything that was even smaller, like for a tiny baby. So after a little research, this is what I found. Here are 3 different Batman-Style Onesies each with their own style. The 1st one is black with the yellow oval-shaped Bat-Symbol. The 2nd one is light-gray with a Batman Comic Book logo that says, "BATMAN IN TRAINING". Now both of these would be appropriate for a small boy or girl but the next one, the 3rd pic, is really for a girl because it's the "Batgirl Outfit". It's also light-gray & has a bright yellow bat-symbol. Now, I already sent this information to Tracy ( she didn't specify if it was a boy or girl & later I found out it was a girl so that's cool because they have the "Batgirl Costume" ). Then I got to thinking that maybe there are some other readers out there with a similar question but didn't ask so...here ya go! You can find these "Batman Baby Onesies" by clicking the link button down below!

New DC UNIVERSE ONLINE Video Game Wallpaper Backgrounds!

DC Comics & Sony Interactive are starting to sort of hype their DC UNIVERSE ONLINE Video Game again so I thought I would post a few Desktop Background Wallpapers to help celebrate. Shown here are some really great images of The Joker ( my favorite one & on my PC now, ha! ), Mr. Freeze, & Dick Grayson himself, Nightwing! You can get many different ones off their official website, plus see some cool videos, by clicking HERE!

ARGENTINA: 1978 DC SUPER HEROES Pepsi-Cola Soda Pop Bottle Caps Promotion

In Argentina, in 1978 & '79, DC Comics teamed up with Pepsi-Cola for a very cool DC SUPER HERO Promotion! They had special Super Hero Bottle Caps placed on their Pepsi Soda Pop Bottles with very cool graphics of a comic book hero or villain. Quite a few of them were Batman-related so that's what you see in the 1st photo, click on it for a larger version. They made ones for Batman, Robin, Commissioner Gordon ( Comisionado Gordon ), Batgirl ( Batichica ), Bruce Wayne ( Bruno Diaz ), The Joker, The Riddler ( El Acertijo ), The Penguin ( Pinguino ), Catwoman ( Gatubela ), Ra's Al Ghul ( Ragul ), & The Scarecrow ( El Espantapajaros ). The next two photos show a special in-store Paper Place Mat that contained a "Collector Board" on one side ( in color ) & a "Checker Game" on the other. These photos also show the other Bottle Caps of Superman, Aquaman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Flash, etc...so be sure to click on one of those to see them! I gotta say that I am totally loving the vintage graphics on all of this stuff, great stock art! The last photo is a super close-up of the BATICHICA Bottle Cap. I really love the sound of that word, Batichica! Speaking of her, these photos were all sent in by our good friend Milotik who lives in Argentina ( Thank You! ). These DC Comics Bottle Caps are a part of his amazing Batgirl Toy Collection. You see, Milotik's main collecting focus is on her & that's very cool. He has some very neat stuff, some of it extremely RARE! He even has a great website where he shares his collectable adventures called EL BLOG DE BATGIRL which you can visit by clicking HERE!

Have you seen these Batman Vending Machine Figures?

While surfing the internet the other day I came across this photo of some Batman Vending Machine Figures. There was absolutely NO information about these & I'm wondering if any readers know anything about them. I seriously don't remember ever seeing them before so I think they're totally new & maybe not even out yet. It looks like they're gonna have 7 pieces to collect: Modern Batman, Retro-Style Batman, Robin, The Joker, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, & The Penguin. If ya ask me, I think they look pretty AWESOME! If anyone has ANY info on these then please contact me...thanks.

CHROME How Wheels 1:18 Elite 1966 TV Series Batmobile Car

OK, This is getting kinda weird. Mattel must be getting ready to release this new version of the Hot Wheels 1:18 Scale Batmobile Car because they are starting to show up on eBay right now. The special thing about this one is that it is CHROME-PLATED & also made to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of DC Comics. So, if you're a Completest-Collector, who has to have every single version made, then you might keep an eye out for this one soon!

Vintage 1980 Underoos Batman Product TV Commercial

This Vintage TV Commercial will bring back fond memories to anybody who is over the age of 30! It's for a famous product called UNDEROOS which were basically little kid's underwear made to look like superhero costumes. I know that I personally had the ones of Superman, Batman, & The Flash, ha ha! My sister had the Wonder Woman set & practically lived in them, ha ha!

WEDNESDAY COMICS : A New Comic Book Format By DC Comics

According to a report at the Newsarama website DC Comics will be publishing a new comic book format that is basically like a set of large newspaper pages. "Wednesday Comics" will be 14" X 20" broadsheet-sized, 12-part series featuring 16 stories starring DC characters told in a “Sunday Comics” style. It will be a weekly series & they're bringing out some major writing & drawing talent for this project. Also, each character, like Batman for example, will get a full-page story. Here's a list of the amazing art talent working on this: Kyle Baker, Neil Gaiman, Mike Allred, Brian Azzarello, Paul Pope, Walt Simonson, Dave Bullock, Dave Gibbons, Ryan Sook, John Arcudi, Lee Bermejo, Joe Kubert, Ben Caldwell, Kurt Busiek, Eddie Berganza, Jimmy Palmiotti, Amanda Conner and Karl Kerschel. The characters will include: Hawkman, Batman, Adam Strange, Metamorpho, Catwoman, Demon, Deadman, Kamandi, Superman, Sgt. Rock, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Teen Titans, Supergirl, Flash and the Metal Men. Whew! This really sounds like a pretty cool idea. Let's wish DC Comics some success with this! Oh yeah, almost forgot, this will be coming out this summer...so look for it then or stay tuned with the Bat-Blog because we'll be reporting the release as soon as there is a date.

CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS: SERIES 3: BATMAN Action Figure

DC DIRECT just announced they will be coming out with their NEW line of DC Comics Action Figures of CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS: SERIES 3. This 3rd Series looks even better then the other two. There will be 5 new figures in the Series: Superboy Prime, Earth 2 Huntress, Dr. Light, Weaponer of Qward, & of course Batman! The photo up above shows the one of Batman & I really love this figure! It's one of my favorite versions of Batman where he's wearing the classic grey / blue costume & has that awesome yellow utility belt with the "capsules". This reminds me of the 70's version of Batman when drawn by Neal Adams. No offense to DC but I could really get into these if they were not so expensive. But I guess you DO have to pay for quality & they're only avaliable at comic book stores which are usually kinda high on toys anyway so I guess the prices aren't too bad. Visit the DC Direct site to see the others, you'll drool for days! Oh yeah, also remember to BOOKMARK THE BAT-BLOG before ya go!

New BATMAN T-SHIRTS Over At SUPERHERO STUFF

The other night I was kinda bored & decided to check out what kind of new Batman Merchandise there was out there. My main focus was some kind of cool T-Shirt or other clothing. One website that I totally love to buy from is called SUPERHERO STUFF. They have great service & an awesome variety. While there I saw they had a bunch of brand-new T-Shirts & here's the one I think I'm going to buy. It has a graphic on the front of a Silver-Age Comic Book Cover that features artwork by Carmine Infantino. Actually, it's Detective Comics # 380. I don't know, I think it's pretty cool. What do you think? Oh, if you're wondering where their website is I placed a link down below, check it out sometime.

BATMAN AND ROBIN - A New Comic Book Title From DC Comics

Starting in June DC Comics will release a brand-new comic book titled BATMAN AND ROBIN. The series will start out being written by Grant Morrison & drawn by Frank Quitely. So, as sort of a celebration of this, I made these 2 new Desktop Wallpapers. The 1st one using the original artwork for the cover to issue # 1 & the 2nd graphic is what you'll see on the inside. The artwork is pretty amazing! I like the strange look of the highly-detailed thin line artwork, very nice! As more information becomes available we'll let you know the exact release date so stay tuned to the Bat-Blog! ( Thank you Brian for sending the pics ).

New BATMAN & DOC SAVAGE SPECIAL Hits Stores Tomorrow!

OH YEAH! The New BATMAN & DOC SAVAGE SPECIAL Comic Book hits stores on November 11th, 2009 & I could not be more excited! Everything I have seen on this looks totally great & it's really wonderful that DC Comics is trying to bring back a "Film Noir" style to some of their books. In other words, if this book is successful, then we will be seeing a lot more pulp novel characters from the Golden Age! But back to this book, ha ha! Here's sort-of what the DC Comics website has to say about it:
Doc Savage returns to DC Comics and comes face-to-fist with the Batman! Superstar Writer Brian Azzarello ( The Recent Highly-Acclaimed JOKER Graphic Novel ) and the breathtaking art of Phil Noto combine to shine the first light on a shadowy new version of the DC Universe, where the thugs run rampant, corruption runs deep, and even heroes can't be trusted! Doc Savage, the Man of Bronze, hates what he's heard about the connections between a grisly murder and Gotham City's violent new vigilante. But the Batman can't abide do-gooders getting in his way…and his .45 just won't stay in its holster!

Be here for this vital prologue to an upcoming 6-issue miniseries by Azzarello and Rags Morales (IDENTITY CRISIS), which will pull back the curtain to reveal the full width and breadth of DC's new pulp-influenced universe. This special issue also features sketchbook material by Rags Morales that will show you just what you're in for! You might think you're ready – but you're very, very wrong…
Remember, you'll be able to buy this comic book's 1st Issue with 2 different covers: a Regular Cover ( 1st photo - Art By JG Jones ) & a Special Variant Cover ( 2nd photo - Art by Rags Morales ). Also, be sure to check out DC's THE SOURCE to see a few preview pages by clicking HERE!

Bloomingdale's DYNAMIC DUOS NIGHT - Batman and Robin Manikins

We reported at the Bat-Blog awhile back about all the special DC COMICS 75th Anniversary merchandise that the Bloomingdale's Store had. It was some really cool stuff, mostly clothing & T-Shirts. Most of it was totally EXCLUSIVE & you could only get it there. But check out this photo of a display they had around Christmas. It was for "DYNAMIC DUOS NIGHT". They had these custom-made Batman and Robin Manikins to show where the line for Santa Claus starts!

Video: THE NEW ADVENTURES OF BATMAN AND ROBIN Filmation Featurette

Featured here in 2 parts is a special video featurette, sort of a mini-documentary, on the making of Filmation's THE NEW ADVENTURES OF BATMAN AND ROBIN Animated Cartoon TV Series. In the 1970's I really loved this show as a little kid & was very happy when Warner Bros released it as a DVD awhile back. Seeing this material again will for sure bring back fond memories to some readers of this blog while others, who have never seen this material, will be enlightened to this special time in Batman animation history. Seriously, it was a very fun TV show & needs to be seen to be appreciated.

Bloomingdale's BATMAN High-End Fashion Clothing!

Here's a post done for the Bat-Blog Readers out there who make tons of money! We reported awhile back how Bloomingdale's Department Stores are helping DC Comics celebrate their 75th Anniversary by having a few special Superhero T-Shirts. Well, they have expanded that line of products with a few other articles of clothing. Here are some Batman Socks, Bat-Symbol Necktie, & even a Cashmere Scarf with a cool graphic of our favorite Caped Crusader! Now, why did I mention the "lots of money" part? Well, the socks are $30.00, the Tie is $125.00, & the Scarf is $225.00 -- OUCH! But, I gotta admit, that Bat-Scarf is pretty cool!

Photo of Huge BATMAN & ROBIN Back Tattoo Picture

While surfing the net I came across this picture of a guy with a HUGE Batman & Robin Back Tattoo that I knew BAT-BLOG Readers would think is cool! From a graphic-art point of view they are extremely well done with good sharpness & nice colors. Plus, this is showing some great respect for Batman so ya gotta love that! When I contacted the guy for permission to use the photo & maybe ask a question or two he had this to say, "I got them at the Lion's Den II Tattoo shop by an artist Named Tony. I tweeked the pictures because I wanted Robin to look younger in the tattoo than he did in the picture I gave him. I also chose that particular picture of The Batman because I thought it caught the determination and the intensity of the Batman really well. It took me 2 years to find the right picture of The Batman and 4 to find a Robin Tattoo that looked just as good as the Batman pic that I picked out of my collection of books that I own.". Wow, great response, thanx for sharing this with us Artie! I also wanna send a shout out to Tony of The Lion Den's II for doing such a great job...kudos! Wanna see more Batman-related Tattoos? Well, just check out the BAT-BLOG ARCHIVES because we've done a few other popular stories like this over the last few months. See y'all tommorrow!
