New BATMAN BLACK AND WHITE STATUE: CATWOMAN By Steve Rude

DC Direct recently announced that they will have a special BATMAN: BLACK & WHITE STATUE of CATWOMAN! With that news Selina Kyle now becomes the 1st female character in that line and villain # 3 to join this popular series ( previous villains include The Joker & The Penguin ). The other cool thing about this original design is that it is styled after artwork done by Steve Rude, a fan favorite among most comic book fans. Well, the ones that have any taste anyway! I'm really loving this one. She has that great Silver-Age style...MEOW! Look for it to be released later this year on July 7th, 2010. It's Limited Edition & will run about $80.00.

Here are a few "prototype photos" of the NEAL ADAMS' MAN-BAT Black & White Statue as sculpted by Jason Spyda Adams. In fact, I "stole these images" from Jason's site, ha ha! The pictures show how detailed this thing is gonna be & I can't wait to see the final product. If it's anything like all the other ones then I know it will be extremely cool! I love that DC Direct has been branching out & doing a few villains in the B&W series. Look for MAN-BAT towards the end of 2010 ( around October 13th ). PHOTO: New BATMAN BLACK AND WHITE JIM APARO Statue

Ya know, these BLACK AND WHITE Statues from DC Direct just keep getting better & better! ( Click on the picture up above for a larger, more detailed, photo ). One of my favorite childhood heroes was the classic comic book artist Jim Aparo. His version of Batman is still one of my favorites, up there with Neal Adams & Jim Lee. At the DC Comics website I noticed this new statue in their "Just Announced" section. The text reads:
"
DESIGNED BY JIM APARO; SCULPTED BY MIKE LOCASIO

The popular BATMAN: BLACK and WHITE line of artist-inspired statues continues!
This rendering of the Caped Crusader is based on the cover image from DETECTIVE COMICS #443, drawn by longtime Batman artist Jim Aparo. Painted in monochromatic tones, this statue is certain to be another sought-after addition to DC Direct's line of BATMAN: BLACK and WHITE statues.

The statue measures approximately 6.5" tall x 8" wide x 5" deep. It features a logo-shaped base, and is packaged in a black-and-white box.

$ 75.00 US | On Sale June 11, 2008"

New NEAL ADAMS MAN-BAT Batman Black and White Statue By DC Direct

For the Art Collectors who collect the BATMAN: BLACK & WHITE Statues here's a brand-new addition just announced by DC Direct. It's the Neal Adams version of The MAN-BAT! This statue will be sculpted by Jason "Spyda" Adams so you know it's gonna be ultra-cool! The pose that Kirk Langstrom ( character's name ) is in is taken from the cover to the classic Detective Comics #400 comic book ( shown down below ). Which, by the way, was the character's very first appearance. Plus it's interesting to note that Neal Adams had actually created this character so that's cool they're making a statue & having him design it. The Retail Price for the B&W Statue will be $ 80.00 & it goes on sale October 13th, 2010. So, towards the end of the year, be sure to keep an eye out for this awesome piece of art!

DC Direct: NEW PHOTOS of The NEAL ADAMS BATMAN Black and White Statue!

I got an e-mail this morning from Jason Spyda Adams, the sculptor/artist of the new NEAL ADAMS BLACK & WHITE Sculpture from DC Direct. I was really happy to see this super-sharp color photo of the completed piece of art, it's beautiful! The attention to detail is very impressive & the funny thing, to me, is that it looks exactly like Neal Adams' art. ( Please click on the picture above to see the larger, more detailed, photo ). As a toy collector I'm really kinda loyal to the older vintage toys & have stayed away from all the cool Batman statues that have come out over the last few years, mainly because of budget. They're kind of expensive & my money is limited. ( Yeah, being poor sucks, ha ha! ). But, these "Black & White" statues from DC Direct are very affordable. Now, this one of Neal Adams' artwork....It's really amazing & extremely well-done. For nostalgic reasons ( I grew up reading comic books in the 1970's ) I might have to break-down & get this one! If you're thinking about getting one then here's a place with great service & good prices...click the button below.

Matt Wagner's Original Production Art For Batman: Black and White Statue

Shown up above is the original production art drawings for Matt Wagner's "Batman: Black & White" Statue. They now belong to a good friend of the Bat-Blog known as The BATFAN & he was kind enough to share them with us. Seeing this sort of work always amazes me. I guess I have always enjoyed the "behind the scenes" type stuff. Basically they are the sketch designs for the statue based on his own artwork. If you click on the small pictures up above then you can see larger, more detailed, shots. Wagner's comic book artwork has always been a real favorite of mine, so getting to see these original sketches is a RARE treat. Thanks to BATFAN for sending them & I hope many readers enjoy them as well.

BATMAN MOVIE POSTER & STATUE Desktop Wallpapers

OK Boys & Girls, It's time again for "Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday" here at the Bat-Blog, OH YEAH! This week I'm proud to say that the 2 super-awesome Batman backgrounds we're showing here today were totally contributed by Bat-Blog Readers. The 1st one is an original from a graphic artist friend named Sean Hartter. I really love this one because it's so creative. It's a Batman & Joker image made to look like an old vintage 1970's movie poster or, actually, a movie theater lobby card. I like all the great little details, like the vintage 70's Warner Bros logo. This would have been a really great film too what with William S. Burroughs writing it! It also has Christopher Walken as Batman & David Bowie as The Joker...great stuff! The 2nd wallpaper is really great too. It was sent in by The BATFAN, who has been sharing his amazing Batman Art Collection with us recently. The graphic here is an original piece of production art drawn by Jim Lee, the Master! This was his prototype drawing for the "Jim Lee" Batman: Black and White Statue. Since this piece of ceramic art is so popular it's really cool to see the original sketch. Plus, I'm a big fan so it's always a treat to see his work. So, I hope most of you like these & I wanna thank both Hartter & BATFAN for contributing the art here...you guys ROCK!!

Prototype Photos: NEAL ADAMS BLACK and WHITE BATMAN STATUE New 2008 Sculpture By Spyda Creations

The photos up above show the preliminary stages for the creation of the NEAL ADAMS BATMAN BLACK AND WHITE STATUE due out next year in 2008. The exact date from DC has not been released yet but we can't wait to see the final product!! Just looking at these "Prototype Photos" makes me totally drool, ha ha. The last set of photos show what the piece is gonna "sort-of" look like. I talked to the Sculptor Jason Spyda Adams about his new Batman sculpture & he said, "This is a picture of the painted version before painted revisions are made. The revisions will include a dark gray instead of a black color to better represent the dark blue color in my father's Batman stories ( Neal Adams is Jason's dad, how cool is that! ). Also the Batman chest symbol will be larger and higher on the chest." Well, this is an amazing piece of art. The extremely dramatic pose really represents the classic artwork of Neal Adams, especially the large flowing cape! The Bat-Blog wishes to thank Jason for allowing us the use of these awesome photos. I'm sure every reader here will be buying one of these as soon as it's released!

A Bat-Blog Reader Meets Eduardo Rissow, a Batman Artist, in Person.

One of our friends from Germany, named Guenter, recently sent us some great photos where he wrote this e-mail, "I would like to show you some pictures I took in the year 2005 during a comic convention in Essen Germany called "Comic Aktion". Always a nice convention and a "I must be there" for me . Comic Artist Eduardo Rissow was one of the special guests there. So I was able to show him one of my favorite cold-cast statue figures. The 1st Batman Black & white statue, the beginning of an amazing series of great sculptures. Sculpted by Tony Cipriano. This first-in-a-series statue designed by Eduardo Risso, known for his work on 100 Bullets and Batman. The true essence of a complex hero is captured in this black-and-white sculpture inspired by Batman: Black and White, the mini-series of short stories by some of the top award-winning talent in the industry, showcasing noir-flavored tales of the Dark Knight. Mr. Rissow was very pleased and astonished because he saw his B&W-Statue for the FIRST time. Yes, the first time! I could not believe it! So I did take some pictures of the first meeting. At last, Mr. Rissow signed the statue on the base for me." Whew! Thanks Guenter, the photos are really wonderful & I like the details of your story. That's pretty cool that this was the 1st time he had seen the finished product. That must have been really nice meeting him. He sounds like a nice guy. Of course all the Bat-Blog Readers know about these statues & many collect them. I think it's a great series & there are a few I plan on getting for myself. Thanks again for sending the great photos & sharing your story. We want to invite ALL Bat-Blog Readers to do the same!

Neal Adams BATMAN Black and White Statue "Colorized"

I found these 2 photos over at the Official Neal Adams website that I knew I had to share here. Every collector knows about those "Batman: Black and White" Statues that are being made in the style of different comic book artists. There was one that was recently made of the "Neal Adams" version. In fact, it was sculpted by his son Spyda Adams who is also a very talented artist & sculptor ( must run in the family ). Well, these 2 pics are of a B&W Statue that has been repainted with actual color! I guess, as an experiment. But Wow! I think it's pretty cool. Now, I don't suggest customizing your own, I mean, it will ruin the value. But it is kinda neat to see. Oh yeah, if you have never visited Adams' web page then be sure to check it out sometime. http://www.nealadams.com
