Meeeeooowww! Here's something I came across on eBay & thought was pretty cool. It's a custom-made "Maquette" Art Sculpture of Catwoman in a sexy pose. It's modeled after the artwork of Bruce Timm's Batman: The Animated Series ( shown below ). The artist's name is Beverly Gilroy & she works for Hourglass studios. Purrrrfect!

BATMAN FINE ART SCULPTURE By ENRICO

OK, as Loyal BAT-BLOG Readers know ( from previous posts ) I love ART in all forms: fine art, painting, comic book art, cartoons, commercial art, you name it....it's all good! The other day I was surfing around MySpace & by accident found this artist who does very serious work but, for fun or personal pleasure, he made a large Batman Sculpture I'm showing here. His name is ENRICO. Isn't this piece too cool! Now I don't have any details right now but will be sharing them later. I contacted the guy & he said this photo was showing it unfinished & when he's done with it later he will send us a newer photo just for the BAT-BLOG! WOW, the thing looks pretty cool already ( I thought it was already completed, LOL ) so I'm not sure what he's gonna do unless he's gonna add color or more details. We will all have to wait & see the final piece but I like it already! The detailing is awesome, for example, look at the utility belt & chest logo. I also like how the mask/cowl looks like an actual "thing" that is "on a human face"....nice nod to reality there. I hope to be showing more work by this guy. At least a photo of this puppy when it's finished. One last thing, you can click the small picture up above for a larger photo. Be sure to check the BAT-BLOG ARCHIVES for more Batman Inspired Art!

Funny BATMAN-RELATED HUMOR PHOTOS Yeah!

Posted here for your viewing pleasure are these 3 extremely funny BATMAN HUMOR photos. The 1st one was sent in by our friend Brian & shows a nice assortment of lovely Catwomen. It looks like a very vintage photo, maybe 1940's, so that's cool. ( Thanks Brian ). The next two pictures are ones I found on Flickr. This is a home-made Folk Art Yard Statue of Batman made out of scrap metal & accessories, like a real flashlight, clock, & toaster on his bat-belt. I have seen this before because this guy's artwork is a very famous landmark in southern California. He does all kinds of great stuff like this & it's always funny & extremely creative. The last photo is more cute than funny. It shows a precious little girl dreaming about being Batgirl while riding in the BATMAN FOREVER Movie Batmobile ( Vending Machine Car ). Oh man, I would love to have that car for my collection ...but where would I put it? It's HUGE! Yeah, I would find a place for it, Ha ha!

Custom Art Sculpture: 1989 Batman & Joker Busts

While crusin' eBay the other day I discovered this amazing artist named Mike Hill who makes very life-like sculptures that he casts in resin. Here's an example of his work. Here is Micheal Keaton & Jack Nicholson as Batman & The Joker from the now classic 1989 movie. The attention to details are insane!

CUSTOM ART: Amazing Sculpture Bust of BRUCE WAYNE From BATMAN BEYOND.

I sort of neglect doing posts about BATMAN BEYOND just because there's not that much to report. But, I do seriously love that cartoon TV show. While surfing the net I found this very cool Sculpture Bust of Bruce Wayne from that show. The artist's name is Walter O'Neal & I think it's an amazing piece of ART. The details are very realistic, like as if Bruce Wayne is a real-life living breathing person. I mean, it's extremely well-done! Later, Walter had a friend named Dan "Danno" Cope paint it. The paint job is also very well-done & the colors are perfect. I also like how he painted the base to look like marble & the "Wayne Enterprises" Logo looks metallic, maybe copper?...a nice touch! It's important to note that these pieces were done purely as personal portfolio pieces and aren't available for sale anywhere. I think it was done as a personal exercise just to see if he could do it & yes, he did a great job!! Plus, I bet he's a serious fan of the BATMAN BEYOND Cartoon TV show....as we all are. As a side note I wanna personally thank Walter O'Neal for allowing us the use of these photos, they're amazing & you, Sir, are a true Artist. Thanks! Also, one last thing. I can't decide which one I like best, ha ha. They're both great like they are. The unpainted one looks like a "real marble bust" & the other one, with colors, looks great too. Please comment below to let us know which version YOU like best.

Pete Arico's JACK NICHOLSON JOKER Sculpture Bust Statue - 1989 BATMAN Movie

Check out this amazing "JACK NICHOLSON JOKER" Sculpture Bust! It's crazy-good!! This pic was sent in by a Bat-Blog Fan named Pete Arico and this is one of his first statues he made! Pete is trying to get into the Sculpture Business & is a totally Self-Taught Artist. Well, it only took me 1 micro-second to recognize that this is Jack Nicholson from the 1989 BATMAN Movie...So, that's a great start! This piece really captures the essence of the character, from the costume, all the way to that famous smile. Thanks for sharing this cool pic Pete & keep up the good work!

Prototype Photos: NEAL ADAMS BLACK and WHITE BATMAN STATUE New 2008 Sculpture By Spyda Creations

The photos up above show the preliminary stages for the creation of the NEAL ADAMS BATMAN BLACK AND WHITE STATUE due out next year in 2008. The exact date from DC has not been released yet but we can't wait to see the final product!! Just looking at these "Prototype Photos" makes me totally drool, ha ha. The last set of photos show what the piece is gonna "sort-of" look like. I talked to the Sculptor Jason Spyda Adams about his new Batman sculpture & he said, "This is a picture of the painted version before painted revisions are made. The revisions will include a dark gray instead of a black color to better represent the dark blue color in my father's Batman stories ( Neal Adams is Jason's dad, how cool is that! ). Also the Batman chest symbol will be larger and higher on the chest." Well, this is an amazing piece of art. The extremely dramatic pose really represents the classic artwork of Neal Adams, especially the large flowing cape! The Bat-Blog wishes to thank Jason for allowing us the use of these awesome photos. I'm sure every reader here will be buying one of these as soon as it's released!

Artist Mike Hill's Tribute To Heath Ledger..."The Dark Knight Joker" Sculpture

I'm a HUGE Art Fan & read tons of art books & magazines, I'm an art museum member, go to many local art events/shows, etc...So, when I see quality, I know it! I don't mean for that to sound arrogant or anything, ha ha! I'm just trying to make a statement that I know ART really really well. Yesterday, while surfing the net, I discovered an artist named Mike Hill. His art work is amazing! No, it's insane!! Mike is an extremely super-talented sculptor & when you look at the faces of his art pieces you know EXACTLY who that person is. If it's Christopher Reeve as Superman it doesn't look like some generic Superman, the face looks exactly like Mr. Reeve & nobody has to tell you it's him. In fact you might think you're looking at a perfect photograph of the actual person. I mean this as a compliment to the artist but it's almost kinda creepy, ha ha! It's creepy how extremely hyper-realistic his art is & that's very hard to do. The photos up above should prove my point. Please take a moment to look at the 1st photo on the left. If I didn't tell you who it was, & especially if there wasn't a "Dark Knight Joker picture" right next to it, you would instantly know that it's Heath Ledger's face. Look at the eyes, mouth, nose...oh my god, it's Heath! He not only captures the basic "look" of the person but it even has some of their charm & personality....creepy! OK, I don't want this post to go on forever & ever because I'm kinda boring, ha ha, but after checking out the Bat-Blog please visit this artist's website. The piece up above is meant to be a tribute to Heath Ledger & if you think that's amazing you'll love the rest of his stuff, enjoy. Oh yeah, one last thing, please bookmark this blog before you go & be sure to tell all your friends about it!

Humor: Funny Wacky Homemade Batman Items!

OK, We all need a good laugh every now & then so here are some humor photos of wacky Homemade Batman Items! The 1st one was sent in to us by our friend Rick & it's actually a very nice piece of yard art. His wife, while in Ohio, saw this & grabbed a photo for him. It's an extremely cool "Batman in Bat-Jet" sculpture. Now, while this is a beautiful piece of ART it is kinda funny too ( Thanks Rick & thank your wife also, she's cool ). The next one is really super-cute. Goo Goo. It's a crocheted plush doll of The Dark Knight! I think this would make a great gift for a little kid, ha ha! The 3rd photo is a craft item too. It's a "Batman Sock Monkey" & every time I see it I totally crack-up! The last photo is an item I saw on eBay recently. There's this guy who lives in Florida who is a very famous Tiki-God Artist. He makes some amazing pieces that sell pretty good. He recently did this one of our favorite superhero. Oh come on, you know you want this in your back yard! It would be a perfect party decoration for your company's Annual Bar-B-Que!

BATMAN-INSPIRED ART - Arts and Crafts Project

I love when creative people become inspired by Batman & make a few items to decorate their house with, that's cool! Here's some photos sent in by a Bat-Blog Fan named Ben showing a few things that he & his Girlfriend have crafted. The 1st one shows a Batman Effigy Pot they made. Now, I think this thing is totally cool visually but I was wondering, "What is an Effigy Pot?". So, I did some quick research & found out that "Effigy Pots are Jars, Bowls, Bottles or Vessels made in the shape of humans or mythological figures. They have been made for 1000's of years & are thought to have healing powers". Cool! I guess some Bat-Blog Readers are gonna learn a little Art History today, I did, ha ha! The next item is something most of us are pretty familiar with. It's a large Stained Glass Window piece & this one has a beautiful Bat-Symbol Logo on it. To be specific, it's the one from the current Christopher Nolan movies ( Batman Begins & The Dark Knight ). This thing is awesome! I bet if this were hung somewhere that sunlight could shine through it it would be really striking. Actually, both items are really really great & I want to thank Ben for sending these pics into us. You guys made some very cool stuff!

Huge BATMAN and ROBIN LEGO SCULPTURE Pops-Up at Trade Show!

Our friend Paul sent this amazing photo showing some HUGE giant-size Batman & Robin Sculptures made from Lego pieces! Of course they were made to hype the new LEGO BATMAN: The Video Game. He saw these recently at a trade show he goes to for his business. He owns a clothing store in Denver, Colorado called Fashionation, a very cool shop! Anyway, he's a big Batman Fan so I know he probably freaked out when he saw these! I bet he even thought about stealing them but they probably weigh a ton! Ha Ha, just kidding Paul, thanks for sending the awesome pics. I appreciate that!

FAT BATMAN - The Art of Francesco De Molfetta

Right now there's an Art Show titled "New Idols" at the Don Gallery in Milano, Italy. The show features 1980's Pop Icon Sculptures by Francesco De Molfetta. He's done a few that are a parody of E.T., Transformers, Barbie Doll, Superman, etc... Most of them are sort of political & all of them have a lot of humor. This is the one he did of Batman, or I should say, "Fatman", ha! For more info on the event, click HERE!

THE JOKER From Dark Knight Batman Movie ( Heath Ledger ) Life-Size Paper-Mache Sculpture

On a personal level I really love ART in just about all of it's forms, especially artwork made by children. It just has a very nice charm about it. Well, a friend to the Bat-Blog, named Adrian, recently went to an exhibit of "Little Kid's Superhero Art" & he got some amazing photos to share. Adrian wrote, "I went to a local mall last night to see some 3-dimensional life-size paper-mache sculptures. They were created by some 7th & 8th grade students of the Holten-Richmond Middle School of Danvers, MA. My girlfriend's cousins, who are in the 8th grade class, helped on a sculpture." WOW! These HUGE sculptures are really super-great! Because the Bat-Blog is ALL about Batman I am sort of showcasing the one of the Joker. It's the Heath Ledger version from the Dark Knight Batman movie ( which is kinda weird for little kids to be making, ha ha ) but they did a wonderful job on this figure! He looks awesome! There were also some pieces, equally as great, that focused on Marvel Comic Book characters. They made Spiderman, The Incredible Hulk, Ironman, & Dr. Octopus! All the artwork here is really special & I wanna congratulate all the children on a job very well done! Also, I wanna thank Adrian for the use of these pics. Thank you, they're very cool!

Custom BATMAN RETURNS Movie CATWOMAN & PENGUIN SCULPTURE!

Right now there's a big buzz on eBay. No, Warner Bros has not posted Christian Bale's original bat-suit from The Dark Knight movie. No, George Barris isn't selling off all of his original 1966 Batmobile Cars. No, the big news is that there is an artist in France who made this BATMAN RETURNS MOVIE-INSPIRED DIORAMA MODEL SCULPTURE! It's crazy, I have got a ton of emails about this thing about this with a lot of people asking, "Have you seen this? It's amazing!". An Artist named "ivy-topp" has created a scene right out of the 1992 Tim Burton BATMAN RETURNS movie. It's the moment when Catwoman ( Michelle Pfeiffer ) & The Penguin ( Danny Devito ) are in bed talking in her hotel room. The resemblance is uncanny! The details are totally crazy! The Artist made the figures, the bed, the lamps, the wall / floor, window blinds, etc...even a birdcage with a small bird! This thing is extremely cool! For more information be sure to check it out online right HERE!
