Nick Spots JACK NICHOLSON JOKER STATUE in Times Square!
OMG! A Good Bat-Blog Citizen named Nick just sent us this incredibly awesome photo. He was visiting Planet Hollywood in Times Square in New York City where they have a HUGE Jack Nicholson JOKER Statue! WOW! The thing looks even larger than life-size ( as it should be ). Also, the face sculpt looks exactly like "Jack", that's very cool. Thank you to Nick for sharing the wonderful pic. I need to ask you to try & steal this thing for me. But then the problem would be, after you got it, you would probably want to keep it for yourself, ha ha!

Fans Go Bat-Crazy Over Tim Burton's 1989 Batman Movie!
Ya' know, a lot of younger Batman Fans today totally forget ( or don't even know about ) how people back in 1989 went totally bat-crazy over Tim Burton's 1st Batman movie! I mean, it was almost equal to the craziness stirred-up by the 1977 Star Wars movie. People dressed-up like the characters, there were lines of people that went around the block, people camped-out for tickets for days, some theaters even dropped another movie so they could show "Batman" on more than one screen...it was crazy! Well, here's a funny vintage newspaper story I found on a website called "Fantastic Flashbacks". It shows a few Batman Movie Fans wearing THE JOKER make-up & costumes ( Jack Nicholson version ) at an opening in California. Now I plan to feature some more of this kind of news coverage from the past so if any readers have something similar then please let me know. 1989 BATMAN MOVIE 20th ANNIVERSARY EDITION Blu-Ray DVD Coming Out Soon!
OK, The new Batman video news right now is that Warner Bros is gonna release the 1989 BATMAN MOVIE on Blu-Ray for the 20th Anniversary Edition! It's hard to believe this movie has been out that long! Thinking about it kinda makes me feel old, ha ha. Of course we're talking about the classic '89 Tim Burton film with Michael Keaton, Kim Basinger, & Jack Nicholson. Here's the deal: The official release date for retail stores is on May 5th, 2009 but you can pre-order it on March 31st, the end of this month. It's gonna come with a 50 page book that has script pages, excerpts from the movie, color photos, & a comic book adaptation by DC Comics. It will also have a Digital Copy you can download to your PC.

1989 Batman Movie: Custom 12" Dolls of Batman & The Joker
Recently on eBay I discovered an artist who has made some really incredible 12" custom toy dolls of both Batman & The Joker. They are the versions from the 1989 Batman movie starring Michael Keaton & Jack Nicholson. His name on eBay is CUSTOM-HEROES & I think his real name is Jon....very nice stuff, great custom job!! I mean, look at the 2nd photo with Batman's face....that's Micheal Keaton's lips & chin, ha ha! ( Click on the picture for a larger photo ). Be sure to search him out because he does great work!

JOKER ILLUSTRATION ART ( Heath Ledger and Jack Nicholson ) From The UK!
A friend in England sent this scan of a wonderful graphic used in a recent story in The Guardian UK Newspaper that was all about The Dark Knight movie. ( Thank You Neal, appreciate that! ). As you can see it features famous "Movie Jokers" from the past ( 1989 ) & present ( 2008 ). The art style is quirky & kinda clever, I like it!! One thing though, the 1989 Batman Movie has a rabid cult-following & I bet they are NOT gonna like this pic. Please, have a sense of humor, it's kinda funny! Yes, Jack was a really great Joker & Yes, I seriously love the '89 film, it's Classic! But this is meant to be silly.

BATMAN TV NEWS : THE JOKER On SOUTHPARK Cartoon!!
Did anybody see the brand-new Southpark episode on TV the other night? They had the main characters go to a place called "Imaginary Land" where all the good & bad characters live. It featured a ton of "people" we all love like Freddy Kruger, Frankenstein, Jason, Darth Maul, Creature From The Lost Lagoon, Strawberry Shortcake, etc... But, they showed The Joker in one of the close-ups...did you see him? Here's a picture. The funny thing is that now people are debating if it was the "Jack Nicholson" 1989 Batman Movie Joker, "Comic Book" Joker, or the "Heath Ledger" The Dark Knight Movie Joker...what's your opinion? Pete Arico's JACK NICHOLSON JOKER Sculpture Bust Statue - 1989 BATMAN Movie
Check out this amazing "JACK NICHOLSON JOKER" Sculpture Bust! It's crazy-good!! This pic was sent in by a Bat-Blog Fan named Pete Arico and this is one of his first statues he made! Pete is trying to get into the Sculpture Business & is a totally Self-Taught Artist. Well, it only took me 1 micro-second to recognize that this is Jack Nicholson from the 1989 BATMAN Movie...So, that's a great start! This piece really captures the essence of the character, from the costume, all the way to that famous smile. Thanks for sharing this cool pic Pete & keep up the good work!

Jack Nicholson was spotted sitting near home plate at the Phillies-Cubs game in a white NY Yankees cap. Fans gave him a pass because, well, he's Jack. The Phillie Phanatic came out on the field in a Batman costume and pretended to take on "The Joker"!

This is really freaky!! Somebody noticed how close to the same thing the new DARK KNIGHT Batman Movie Trailer ( Christopher Nolan, Christian Bale ) is to the 1989 BATMAN Movie Trailer ( Tim Burton, Michael Keaton ) one. The thing you should do is listen to the new one but just watch the old '89 version...FREAKY!

Jack Nicholson, as The Joker, Shows Support For Hillary Clinton?!
In a strange report from The Huffington Post, a very well-respected Political Blog, they featured this video of a real TV Commercial showing Jack Nicholson, in many different movie characters ( including The 1989 Batman Movie JOKER ), saying different things that relate to his approval of Hillary Clinton for President. At first I thought it was a joke or a fan-made trailer but it's the real deal. It's airing in certain cities & is kinda surreal.

FAIL - Hey Jack! Please Sign Your Joker Photo!
I'm not quite sure if this photo is real or shopped but if it is an actual real-life pic then it is completely hilarious! Here's some guy holding out a pen & 8 X 10 photograph to Actor Jack Nicholson & asking for an autograph. The guy must not know anything about the different characters in the movies because it's NOT the "1989 Batman Movie" version of the Joker, that Jack played, in the photo, but it's the later Dark Knight movie "Heath Ledger" version. What?! Does he think that all Jokers are the same? I totally love the expression on Jack's face...like he's looking at a total moron & can't believe it, ha ha!

Here are 2 really great videos recently put out by Warner Bros to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the 1989 Batman Movie. They are both sort of like a mini-documentary with one covering all the behind-the-scenes events & the other focuses on Jack Nicholson's Joker character. Anyway, I have always loved this classic Batman movie & seeing these stories are pretty interesting. It's kinda hard to believe this movie came out 20 years ago, kinda makes me feel old, ha ha!
