Jerry's Photos: CUSTOM BATMAN 12" HOT TOYS FIGURES

Our good friend Jerry, who lives in Taiwan, sent us some amazing photos the other day. He recently went to a store at some shopping mall in Taipei City called "Taiwan Figure Union". He said he saw a lot of awesome stuff, such as these 12" Batman Movie Custom Figures that some Bat-Fans got to display in the front store windows. I have to say that they are all very impressive with really great head sculpts. I mean, some of them look just like the original actors! The main focus for most of the dolls appear to be the 2005 BATMAN BEGINS movie, but in photo #2 we get to see a version from an earlier Batman movie, maybe 1992 BATMAN RETURNS-inspired. They made one of the "R'as al Ghul" character & it looks exactly like Liam Neeson, ha! They also made a more Modern Day "Comic Book JOKER" but used the body from THE DARK KNIGHT Heath Ledger figure by HOT TOYS ( in fact, I think all these customs were made using HOT TOYS bodies and it was just the heads & clothing that were customized ). The one of Police Sergeant Jim Gordon is one of my personal favorites as they did an amazing job on Gary Oldman's face. They did a few variations on Bruce Wayne's character which are pretty interesting. Overall, I would have to say that I'm very very impressed with all of these. As a side-note: I'm not really sure if they were all done by one artist or many different ones, but either way, very great work! Also, I wanna thank Jerry for taking the time to shoot these pics & sharing his love of the Batman Character with us. It's really neat seeing what goes on in Taiwan & it's so cool that there are serious Bat-Fans there too!!

Amazing 1966 BATMAN TV SHOW Custom Action Figure Dolls by Darkside Customs

A new friend to the Bat-Blog, named Rick, sent me an e-mail about his cool hobby of making custom dolls & action figures. He calls his company DARKSIDE CUSTOMS & his work is totally amazing! His focus is on the many different characters from the classic 1966 Batman TV Show. The attention to detail is totally insane! Plus, I really enjoy that he made a few of the obscure villains. Now of course he made a Batman & Robin ( Adam West, Burt Ward ) but the rouge's list includes: Catwoman ( Julie Newmar ), The Riddler ( Frank Gorshin ), Bookworm ( Roddy McDowall ), Mr. Freeze ( Otto Preminger ), The Madhatter ( David Wayne ), & Egghead ( Vincent Price ). I'm showing only a few examples here so if you like these be sure to visit Rick's website!

This is The Dark Knight if he were a HELLO KITTY character! I love the shading & 3-D effect this picture has, it looks very "real". Looks like some kind of robot-toy too...awesome! MY LITTLE PONY Custom Figures BATMAN, ROBIN, & BATGIRL!

I came across these the other day & knew I had to share them, they're totally hilarious! Here are a few MY LITTLE PONY Figures that have been completely customized to look like Batman, Robin, and Batgirl. These custom toys were made by an artist named Jodi K. Moisan & her work is extremely excellent! In fact, I wish that Hasbro would make these for real! She has done a ton of these & they are all really great but I thought I would focus on the Batman-related ones for this blog. But, if you're a comic book fan she also did many different Marvel Comics characters too & even some TV stars like Mr. T!

Custom BATCAVE MODEL Scaled For CORGI 1966 BATMOBILE DIECAST CAR

To celebrate this 250th post to the BAT-BLOG we thought we would do a very special story! Bob Kimball, a new friend to the BAT-BLOG, has these 2 awesome photos to share of a model BATCAVE DIARAMA SCENE he made. This is an exact replica model of the BATCAVE from the 1966 Batman TV Show done to the scale of the original 1960's Corgi Diecast Batmobile Car. So, the car was made by the classic toy company & everything else was made by Bob...WOW! The details to this model are extremely insane! He said he watched many hours of the TV show & freeze-framed certain moments to study the different elements of the Batcave because he wanted to capture the exact scale of every piece. It looks like he did just that & also did a great great job! He said, "This model took forever & ever to make!". As you can see in the photos it was lovingly pieced together & painted with great details! One pic has a coin to show the scale....nice! Thanx for sharing these pics with our BAT-BLOG readers Bob! Be sure to check out the BAT-BLOG ARCHIVES for many more RARE Vintage Toys like Mego, Corgi, Marx, Hot Wheels, Ideal, etc..Also, click on the top photo of the BATCAVE for a HUGE picture where you can really see the details of this great model!

CUSTOM BATGIRL TOY DOLL MySize Barbie™ Mattel

For the longest time Mattel, the classic toy company, came out with a Giant-Size Barbie™ every year around the holidays. I'm not sure if they still make them now but I bet they do because they're pretty popular. Anyways, awhile back I saw this one on eBay where some very creative artist-type person totally customized it to look just like Yvonne Craig from the 1966 Batman TV Show. The details are awesome! The material for the costume is that shiny metallic-type cloth. The belt is also one of the best parts, what with the great attention to details & all. These dolls are wayyyy bigger than a regular Barbie™ & measures about 3 feet tall so this would be a very cool Display "Statue", check it out! Be sure to check out the BAT-BLOG ARCHIVES for many other vintage/new toys like Marx, Ideal, Mego, Lego, Corgi, Hot Wheels, etc..

BATMAN MUNNY ACTION FIGURE and Custom Batmobile Car

A good friend to the Bat-Blog, named Billy, sent us these amazing photos he found on the internet the other day. They show a Customized Munny Figure made to look like Batman, only cuter! But the artist didn't stop there. He ( or she ) also made a custom Batmobile Car! Both the figure & vehicle look extremely awesome! I really like the small details like the bat-belt. I also love the "cartoon-look" & the Batmobile really reminds me of the one used in the 1989 Batman Movie, except it's super-cute! Thanks for sharing these pics Billy. If any other readers come across fun stuff like this then please be sure to send us an e-mail. Sharing the love of the wacky Batman Universe is what the Bat-Blog is all about!!

BATMAN CUSTOM TOY: Mr. Potato Head is The Caped Crusader!

In the last few years Hasbro has totally revamped their Mr. Potato Head toy figure line by making him into licensed characters. There have been ones of The Transformers, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, KISS ( Rock Group ), Santa Claus & they even recently starting doing Sports Teams. But because Mattel has the license to exclusively make Batman figures they will probably NEVER make one of our favorite Dark Knight. Well, that's a total shame because check out this amazing BATMAN Custom Toy done by our friend Matt! One night Matt & his 2 brothers decided to totally customize some Mr. Potato Heads. He chose to make one of Batman. I really love this figure! Not only is it very well made but it's also a great version of the Silver Age Batman where he's wearing the blue/gray uniform with the yellow-oval bat-symbol. I wanna thank Matt for sending in these cool pics plus say, "Good Job!". I also want to invite any other creative Bat-Blog Fans to send in examples of their artwork.

Vintage 1940's Style BATMOBILE RIDING TOY CAR

There's a Batman Collector website I visit called BATMANIACO! It's written by a guy named Alberto who lives in Argentina. Now the thing is, I can not understand one single word written there...I just enjoy the photos, ha ha! I try to translate the page sometimes but it always just gets garbled up so I just end up enjoying the pictures. He has a pretty amazing Batman Toy collection. This is a perfect example! Here's a beautiful Batman Riding Toy Car that looks just like the 1940's Batmobile! Now, remember, I can't read anything there but I'm pretty sure this toy is custom & not production-made. But anyway...it's AWESOME!

Johnny's CUSTOM BATMAN & ROBIN GI Joe Doll Clothes

This is a really nice story. Here's some pics sent in by a Bat-Blog Reader named Johnny. When he was a little kid, back in the 1970's, a lady who was a good neighbor made him some Batman & Robin clothes for his large 12" GI Joe Dolls. They were made to sort of be like the Mego Superhero Figures we all know & love. Well, out of sentimental reasons he has kept these outfits for all these years. Later, he got some large dolls to display the mini-costumes as a way to remember her ( she recently passed away ). Now I think these clothes are just totally wonderful & she did a great job on them. OK, I know that they're not totally perfect or completely accurate but a lot of goodness & love went into making them. So for that reason they're really special. Plus, they actually are pretty cool! Thanks to Johnny for sharing his nice story & pics.

The BAT-BLOG has a friend nick-named "BAT-ROB" who loves to customize Vintage 1970's Mego Action Figure Dolls & their accessories. Here's a picture of a Mego Batmobile that he customized & he did a really great job on it!! Basically he gave the car alot more details & some paint but what an amazing difference! He even added the glass windshields & made the tail-fins more accurate...WOW! I think he did such a great job on this I had to share it w/ my readers! Custom Toys: BATMAN & ROBIN Models Made Out Of Paper!

Remember awhile back I posted a photo of a Batman Action Figure that someone had made out of construction paper? Well, he sent us some more cool pics to share! Here he's done a few different Batman-related characters. In the 1st one is the Dynamic Duo, BATMAN and ROBIN!! The 2nd photo shows a paper-model figure of KILLER CROCK, aaarrrgggg! The last photo shows a group of figures & if you look closely there's the JOKER and HARLEY QUINN. I don't know why but I think these are really cool. The colors are bright, that might be it, but they really really do look like the characters they're suppose to be...that's cool! If any other readers are doing any kind of "Custom Toys" then please send pics. It can be Dolls, Batman Model Kits, Batmobiles, Whatever!
