CAL SLAYTON Comic Style Illustration Artist CATWOMAN

Here's a very lovely graphic illustration showing Catwoman stealing one of her beloved cat statues. Unfortunely Batman & Robin are there to ruin everything, ha ha. It's by a really cool artist named CAL SLAYTON. I discovered his artwork while surfing thru MySpace & instantly loved his work! He has a crisp clean graphic style with a great sense of color. His main focus is good girl art & pin-ups....meow! If you enjoy great eye-candy then you need to check out his site. He's easy to find on Google, so try that & get ready for some cool ART.
Be sure to check the BAT-BLOG ARCHIVES for more artists!

Amazing 1966 BATMAN TV SHOW Custom Action Figure Dolls by Darkside Customs

A new friend to the Bat-Blog, named Rick, sent me an e-mail about his cool hobby of making custom dolls & action figures. He calls his company DARKSIDE CUSTOMS & his work is totally amazing! His focus is on the many different characters from the classic 1966 Batman TV Show. The attention to detail is totally insane! Plus, I really enjoy that he made a few of the obscure villains. Now of course he made a Batman & Robin ( Adam West, Burt Ward ) but the rouge's list includes: Catwoman ( Julie Newmar ), The Riddler ( Frank Gorshin ), Bookworm ( Roddy McDowall ), Mr. Freeze ( Otto Preminger ), The Madhatter ( David Wayne ), & Egghead ( Vincent Price ). I'm showing only a few examples here so if you like these be sure to visit Rick's website!

CUSTOM TOYS : Cool 1966 Batman TV Show Figures!

Shown in the photo up above are some Custom-Made Toys from a friend to the Bat-Blog. Please be sure to click the picture for a larger, more detailed, photo. We asked him about these amazing pieces of ART & he wrote, "They are made out of Super-Flex Sculptey and painted with Acrylic Paint. They each took 3-4 days to make, and they're plastic army man scale, about 2 inches in height. They are not for sale at the moment. I make them for the sheer fun of it". WOW!! These are really beautiful, good job!! I love that you did some of the very obscure TV Villain characters. The figures include: Batman, Robin, The Joker, Riddler ( Wow, That face looks exactly like Frank Gorshin! ), Batgirl, Mr. Freeze, Madhatter, Catwoman, Egghead, The Penguin, King Tut, & Bookworm too! The faces on ALL of these figures are amazing. For example, look at King Tut's face. It looks EXACTLY like the actor!!

Is Julie Newmar ( Catwoman 1966 TV Show ) Still Sexy at 70?

We think so! Ha Ha, Last year I was really surprised to get a "friend request" at my MySpace page from the real Julie Newmar. OK, it's probably her assistant, but it was still an honor! Julie Newmar is still alive & kickin' & just as feisty as she ever was. Of course we all know her as Catwoman from the 1966 TV Series. She was one of the very best villains on that show. To stay connected to her fans she created a MySpace page & the pin-up photo you see above is one of her latest pictures she released...MEOW! I had to think about if I was gonna post it or not because it's kinda too sexy & I do try to keep this blog clean, to a degree, because I know children visit here ( Kids love Batman ). But I thought, what's wrong with this picture? She looks great & it's not anything you wouldn't see on any billboard or magazine cover. Ya gotta admit, for a lady in her early 70's she still looks pretty good, meow!

CATWOMAN TATTOO Batman-Related Art

I think TATTOO ART is a legitimate artform. I mean, it's been around for 1000's of years, some of it is ugly, some of it is beautiful. This is an example of TRUE BEAUTY!! Here's a recent CATWOMAN TATTOO by tattoo artist Patrick Cornolo. It's a sort-of a cartoon version of the 1960's Style Julie Newmar Catwoman & it's awesome, check it out! The details are really nice & sharp plus the colors are very good too. ( Click the picture up above for a larger photo ). I really like this guy's style, he's gooood! His website URL is pictured on the photo, you should check out more of his ART.
Also, Be sure to check out the BAT-BLOG ARCHIVES for many more examples of great Batman-Related Tattoo Photos!

Vintage Magazines with a 1966 TV Batman Theme

One area of Batman Collecting that some collectors like to get into are the old Vintage Magazine Covers that feature Batman in some way. Here are 2 really great examples. One cover has a story about "Batman Getting Married" & it's kinda weird. It's the May 1966 issue of Pageant Magazine, which I guess was directed towards marriage-minded women...OUCH! The art direction on this is very provocative. Speaking of "provocative", the next cover features our favorite Catwoman, Julie Newmar...MEOW! It's the June 1964 issue of LOOK Magazine. Wow, it came out 2 years before the Batman TV Show. Anyway, she looks as lovely as ever as she prepares an outdoor meal, ha ha!

1966 TV CATWOMAN & NEW BATMAN MOVIES Desktop Wallpapers

Since today is "Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday" I thought, this week, I would post 2 backgrounds with something vintage 60's Batman & something that's modern, but looks vintage. Does that make sense? Please let me explain. The 1st Wallpaper is a wonderful glamor-fashion photo of Julie Newmar as Catwoman from the 1966 TV Series. It's the "vintage one". The 2nd Batman Wallpaper was sent in by our good friend Sean Hartter who made this amazing background that totally looks like an old vintage newspaper advertisement for a "Special Screening of 2 Batman Movies", a Double-Feature! The great thing about this graphic is that, if you're familiar with the "look" of these old ads, then it totally fools you for a minute. Then, you realize, "Hey, This is BATMAN BEGINS & THE DARK KNIGHT! They're very recent movies, ha ha!" I wanna thank Sean for the wonderful artwork, it's great! I also wanna say Hi to Julie Newmar & let her know that I'm sincerely sorry I forgot it was her birthday recently ...Happy Birthday Julie! You know I love ya!

1966 Batman and San Francisco Fire Department Team-Up!

Check out this extremely cool Batman-themed T-Shirt used to promote the San Francisco Fire Department, specifically "Engine 26" in Diamond Heights. The design looks a lot like the opening title graphics for the 1966 BATMAN TV Show. Now, speaking of that TV series, somebody went to a Comic Book Convention where all the actors posed with the T-Shirt. There is Adam West ( Batman ), Burt Ward ( Robin, The Boy Wonder ), Julie Newmar ( Catwoman ), & the 1966 Batmobile Car Designer, George Barris!

Batman 1966 TV Series 40th Anniversary T-Shirts on eBay!

While cruising thru eBay the other night I noticed a friend of the BAT-BLOG is selling some Batman T-shirts that mark the 40th Anniversary of the 1966 TV Series. See the picture up above, that is printed, very large, on the back & the front has the Batman chest logo like Adam West had on the show ( sort of an oval shape with bat ). These are very VERY high quality T-shirts & the printing is bold/sharp. I already have one of these or would have bought one, ha ha! I suggest checking them out! Also, they are "on sale" starting at $8.00 & that's a great deal!! I mean, like you're almost stealing it, ha ha!

The Wizard World Comic Convention is coming to Philly from June 11th to the 13th, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.
