Awesome! It looks like the Tonner Doll Company is going to feature an EXCLUSIVE Deluxe Figure of THE HUNTRESS for this year's 2010 Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo known as "C2E2". The Doll will be 17" tall, very limited ( only 200 made ), & will come with an autographed certificate signed by Doll Creator Robert Tonner. At the convention you'll be able to find it at booth # 425. The retail price will be about $150.00. Now, for people living near the Chicago area, this show will be April 16th-18th, 2010. One of my favorite Batman Comic Book Artists is JIM LEE. I have always loved his special "hyper-realistic" style. Seriously, He's a great draftsman! The video shows Jim Lee working on a Joker sketch at the Armageddon Expo, Melbourne, Australia on November 1, 2008.
Here are 2 wonderful pieces of original art I came across the other day while surfing the internet. The 1st one was drawn by Peter Laird. He's the co-creator of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! This was a drawing he did at a comic book con in 1987. It's a movie Alien Creature wearing Batman's costume & cowl! I think it's extremely awesome!! The next drawing ( which is also very awesome ) was done by Eric Talbot. I think he works at Mirage Studios, the company that cranks out artwork for the TMNT comics. It shows one of the Turtle characters dressed as the Dark Knight ...pretty funny!
I just met a guy over at Facebook who says he got to meet Batman. His name is John & if you don't believe him, well, he has photographic proof!! Shown here is John shaking the hand of the Original 1966 Batman TV Show actor Adam West! Now, how cool is that!? Thanks John for letting me post this fun photo. Getting to meet Adam West in person is always a treat because he's such a cool guy! If any other Bat-Blog Readers have met ANY of the "Batman Actors" ( TV, Cartoon Voice Actors, Movie Stars, etc....) then please send us a photo today.
OK, I thought I would post this early so people could have enough time to save money or make plans. Batman Fans are in for a rare treat next April in California! Wizard World's "Anaheim Comic Con" will have 4 actors from the 1966 Batman TV Show. Be prepared to meet Adam West, Burt Ward, Yvonne Craig, & Julie Newmar! Of course we all know them as Batman, Robin The Boy Wonder, Batgirl, & Catwoman!! Now, Ward & Craig have come out of retirement to do this show so it might be your last chance to meet them both. The convention event will be on April 16-18, 2010 ( Fri-Sat-Sun ). For more information be sure to click HERE!
Today is Christmas & I got up early to see if I could catch up on my e-mail & send some last-minute holiday greetings to my friends who live in other countries far, far away. When I opened my e-mail I was pleasantly surprised by this very cool photo a Bat-Blog Fan had sent! His name is Trevor & he did this totally amazing PENGUIN COSTUME! If you attend the WONDERCON in Northern California then I bet you have seen this guy, ha ha! I mean, how could you miss it? This PENGUIN costume is really really great! Thank you Trevor for sending the cool pic, it made my day. If any other Bat-Blog Readers have some cool photos to share then please do.
Every loyal Bat-Blog Reader knows that I love ART! I love all kinds of art: Fine Art, Commercial Art, Graphic Art, Comic Book Art...etc! The other day I came across a promotional page for Shawn Surface. He runs a studio called SURFACE ART STUDIOS. His artwork is pretty amazing & rendered with clean lines that are very realistic looking. He has a neat personal style. The cool thing I found out is that he is available for commissions at both his website & the many Comic Book Conventions he does. Shown up above are just a few examples of his awesome artwork. If ya wanna see more then be sure to check out his site & if you talk with him be sure to mention the Bat-Blog sent ya! The graphic-logo down below is "clickable". So, Click It!
For the Bat-Blog readers who live on the east coast I thought I would do this post to remind them that the annual NEW YORK COMICON COMIC BOOK CONVENTION is on April 18th-20th, 2008. This year they have a ton of guests that are "Batman-related". They include ( in no certain order ) : Mike Mignola, Carmine Infantino, Joe Kubert, Grant Morrison, Alex Ross, Frank Miller, Neal Adams, Adam Kubert, Andy Kubert, Jim Lee, Denny O'Neal, Steve Rude, Darwyn Cooke, Jose Luis Garcia Lopez, & probably a few others I missed! The guest list is HUGE! Also there will be three exclusive Batman toys. I featured 2 of them in a previous post ( scroll way down ) but shown here is the just-released Special Edition Comic Book Convention Exclusive "Tech Suit Mr.Freeze" action figure from Mattel ( Booth # 1547 ). I think this figure is really great! This is an awesome event that I highly recommend you going to, especially for the chance to get some sketches and/or autographs from these classic Batman writers & artists. Here's a link button down below if ya need more information:
For anyone who will be going to a Comicon this year be sure to look out for these 2 NEW Batman products. The 1st one is a limited-edition action figure made by Mattel called "Knight Shadow Batman". He looks kinda weird being totally black with just a hint of dark gray accents but I guess that's the "shadow" part, ha ha! Still, looks kinda cool. The next item is a Brass Batman Paperweight put out by Monogram. It's a part of their Justice League series. There's one of Superman too ( but who cares, ha ha! ). If any readers spot any more "Comic Book Convention Exclusives" please let us know so we can share because that's what the Bat-Blog is all about.
I got this hilarious photo the other night from Chuck Dixon & it totally cracks me up! Recently he went to the 2009 Mini-Mega Con in Orlando, Florida. This is one of those comic book conventions I would really love to go to. While there, Chuck met "The Ventriloquist & The Dummy, Scarface". WOW! This costume is pretty awesome! I wanna thank Chuck for the photo, it really brightened my day. I love when Comic Book Fans get really into the characters they love. Cosplay is just one way they show they care, that's cool. Oh yeah, and for a few Bat-Blog Readers who might not know, Chuck Dixon was a MAJOR Batman comic book writer for many years during the 90's. So it's cool he got to meet "The Ventriloquist & Scarface", ha ha! Hey, if any other Bat-Blog Readers have any fun comicon or cosplay photos then please be sure to send them in! Our e-mail button is ALWAYS on the top right-hand side of this page.
A friend to the Bat-Blog, named Neville, sent us this really wonderful photo from the Polaris Comic Book Convention in Toronto, Canada. The picture was taken last July & shows us how some Batman Fans get totally creative! Here we see the Joker with his girlfriend, Harley Quinn, & their dog, Lou. I think it's cool that they brought their dog, how funny! Anyway, the whole family looks really great & I seriously love the costumes. Thank you Neville for sending this to us, I appreciate that. If any other Bat-Blog Readers have any Batman-related pics to share then please e-mail them to us today!
Cue Music: "I'm The Music Meister, The Music Meister!" OK, regardless if you loved or hated the recent episode of Batman: The Brave and The Bold animated cartoon series where it was a "Batman Musical" with Neil Patrick Harris you DO have to admit that these costumes are totally GREAT!! A friend of mine sent these to me & I was instantly very impressed. Of course they are the Music Meister & Black Canary. The details are very accurate & the costumes are extremely well made! Please click on the above graphic for a larger, sharper, photo. My friend didn't tell me if this was cosplay at some Comic Book Convention, or a cute couple at a Halloween Party, but either way these Batman-themed Costumes are just crazy-insane! ( Thanks Jeff ).

A friend to the BAT-BLOG, named Stephen, was lucky enough to get to go to the DRAGON CON Comic Book Convention this year & he sent us these wonderful photos showing some of the cosplay people. The costumes are really great!! Shown here are Batman, Batgirl, Catwoman, The Penguin, The Joker, & Green Arrow! Some are like the 1960's TV Show, while others are more Silver Age or Modern...I'm lovin' it! Seeing all these characters walking around has got to be the best part of going to one of these events, ha! ( Thanks Stephen )
On November 17th & 18th there will be a major event going on in New England. It's time again for BOSTON SUPER-MEGAFEST!! The good news for Batman Fans is that a few of the special guests will be Adam West, Burt Ward, Lee Merriwether, & Julie Newmar. Here's your chance to meet the 1960's TV Show Batman, Robin, & 2 Catwoman actresses! They will also have many other pop-culture guests from the world of TV, movies, comic book art, etc...But, who cares, ha ha! Here's there URL for more information.http://www.supermegafest.com/
Neal Adams doesn't need ANY introductions. This famous comic book artist is a living legend, an icon! His work in silver age comics is considered to be classic. His heyday was in the 1970's when he drew Batman, Deadman, Green Lantern, & Green Arrow. Back then he even created the character R'as AlGhul who later became a main villain in the Batman Begins movie. His portrait is shown in this vintage pinback button by Denis Kitchen. I also thought I would show a more recent photo. Here he is sketching at a comic book convention. Now the whole reason for this post was that I had an advance copy of Adams' artwork for All Star Batman & Robin, The Boy Wonder #8 ( Due out Nov 28th ) which I had posted right here for a few days. Well, at his son's request I took it down because he was a little freaked out, he said & I quote, "I do have a favor to ask. Neal is my father and he just finished a new Batman cover for DC. Somehow you got a copy of that art on your site. The Joker head with Batman's head over it. The thing is, we promised DC that we wouldn't post any images of the cover, and I have no idea how you got a copy of the scan of it. My worry is that DC might think we've been releasing the image. They did, however, give us permission to show it at the National convention on the 16th. I was hoping you wouldn't mind taking that image down until the 16th?". Well, this is no problem at all. I'm kinda bummed out that my "scoop" is getting burned but out of respect for Mr.Adams I'm taking it down until the 16th. Hey DC, I did not get this scan thru Mr. Adams or any of his staff. Be sure to return to the Bat-Blog on the 16th to see this amazing artwork. ( Neal Adams is drawing Batman again!! ).
The Legendary BATMAN Comic Book Artist NORM BREYFOGLE will be a Special Guest at the NORTH EAST COMIC CON in Boston, Massachusetts on March 7th, 2010. So, if you live nearby, then this is your chance to meet him & maybe get a drawing or sketch of the Dark Knight. Now, another reason I mention this Boston Comic Book Convention is that they will also be giving away, as a door prize, an Original 1940's Golden Age Copy of BATMAN #1!! WOW! That would be extremely cool to win! I mean, I have wanted that iconic issue since I was about 12 years old, ha ha! For more information about this show be sure to visit their site by clicking HERE!
The Wizard World Comic Convention is coming to Philly from June 11th to the 13th, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. The reason I mention it is because Adam West ( Bruce Wayne / Batman ) & Julie Newmar ( Catwoman ), the actors who played those characters in the 1966 BATMAN TV Show, will be there! Plus, hundreds of comic book artists, writers, pencillers, inkers, creators and directors are also set to attend. Some of them have even worked in Batman comics: Ethan Van Sciver, Mark McKenna, Jim Calafiore, & Arthur Suydam ( all pictured down below ), just to name a few. All VIP Ticket Holders will receive a special limited edition BATMAN ZOMBIE Art Print ( only 600 made & a picture of this print is shown up above ) signed by Arthur Suydam! For a complete listing of special guests and activities, as well as where to get tickets, please click HERE!
OK, I gotta admit that I'm a little jealous here over the fact that our friend Mark got to go to the last Dragon Con ( a Comic Book Convention in Atlanta, Georgia ) & here's the photographic proof, ha! While there he saw a beautiful Harley Quinn Cosplayer, a very cool 1966 Batmobile Replica Car, & he almost got his throat cut by The Joker! He also got to meet some amazing Batman Comic book Artists: Kelley Jones, Neal Adams, and Tommy Castillo ( wearing the hat ). Yeah, like I said...JEALOUS!! ( Thanks Mark for sending the cool pix ).
