BATMAN : THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD Premiers On Cartoon Network TONIGHT!

Just a friendly reminder that the brand-new animated TV series BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD hit's the airwaves tonight! Now, here at the Bat-Blog we have been flooded with e-mails from people asking, "What time does the show come on?" OK, Cartoon Network originally had it planned for 7:30pm & then changed it to 8:00pm but this morning I checked my TV provider's listings & they say 7:00pm. I know, it's all confusing. So, the best thing I can say is just get online or look on your Cable TV Listing channel to find out what time it will be on your local listings. The Cartoon Network is acting very strange with this so just check our local guide to be sure.

Review: BATMAN, THE ANIMATED SERIES - LIMITED EDITION MUSIC SOUNDTRACK CD ( 2 DISC SET )

OK, Awhile back we reported here about a brand-new Batman product of the music soundtrack CD ( 2 - Disc Set ) of BATMAN, THE ANIMATED SERIES. As a HUGE FAN of this extremely well-done classic television series I could not have been more thrilled. Well, I received a promo copy the other day & have been listening to it the last 2-3 days. It took me forever to hear all of it because it's around 2 1/2 hours long! Oh man, the music is beautiful & the quality is really great too! Here's the basic information about the soundtrack, The thrilling orchestral scores from the acclaimed Warner Bros./D.C. Comics animated series BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES are finally unleashed in this spellbinding 2CD Limited Edition pressing. Composer Shirley Walker, along with Lolita Ritmanis and Michael McCuistion ( BATMAN BEYOND, TEEN TITANS ), and Danny Elfman’s iconic “Batman Theme”, revolutionized animated TV music with robust, full-blooded music that propelled BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES to lofty critical and artistic heights, enriching the The Dark Knight’s legacy. 20 Page CD booklet features in-depth liner notes including comments from writer/producer Paul Dini and composers Lolita Ritmanis, Michael McCuistion and Danny Elfman. Limited Edition of 3000 Units.
OK, you just read the company's info, here's mine: It comes with 2 CDs, a 20 page booklet that is actually well-written, & is limited to only 3000 units ( which is really not a lot & I expect this thing to sell-out pretty easily ). It was created by a company called LA-LA LAND RECORDS & you can really see the love they put into it. The overall design of the entire thing is very well done & my favorite part, this will be kind of corny maybe, but when you open the CD Case the very 1st thing you see, on the left side, is a photo of the composer Shirley Walker. They print the words, "In Loving Memory ...SHIRLEY WALKER 1945 - 2006". Ya see, she died very recently & she was very well respected by a lot of music fans. She did an incredible job on this cartoon ( among others ), & was really loved by a lot of people in the industry. Seriously, her music is great & she was also a very nice person. I thought that was very sweet & sort of a very classy thing to do as most published music CDs would not do a thing like that...very very cool. But, I'm sorry, back to the actual product. The music is really wonderful & will bring back a lot of memories of this awesome animated TV series. Of course it includes the classic TV Intro Theme Song done by Danny Elfman, which we all love. But, even the rest of the music is a total joy to listen to. If you go to the LA-LA LAND website there's a published track listing that shows all the songs on the 2-Disc Set. A few of the songs are "clickable" & you can listen to a few MP3 samples to get an idea...very nice! I guess one thing I should mention too is that this merchandise will ONLY be available at their website ( and maybe at some other obscure "music fan" sites ) & is reported to not be sold by other sites like Amazon or Barnes & Noble. So, if you're interesting in buying it then be sure to visit the link button down below. I guess I should say one thing. On a personal level I very seriously LOVED this Batman TV show & the fact that La-La Land Records did such an amazing job on this soundtrack really feels me with a lot of pride. The respect & love they put into this project is well appreciated by me & I know if you get a copy you'll love it too.

DVD Review : THE BATMAN VS DRACULA Animated Movie

The other day some friends & I visited our local video store because we heard they were having a wacky clearance sale on used movies. I was really excited to find THE BATMAN VS DRACULA Animated Movie on DVD! This is a newer movie ( 2005 ) that I had not seen before & didn't own yet, plus it was only $4.00! It's based on the newer THE BATMAN cartoon & while I'm not a huge fan of that show I heard this movie was pretty good. Plus, it's Batman! Anyway I watched it yesterday & surprisingly it's really enjoyable. I feel it's a movie I can suggest owning because the animation quality is very good. The sound effects are cool & very well done. The story isn't too bad either. Basically it features a "new villian" called Dracula. It's filled with alot of folklore about the classic monster & would be really great to watch around Halloween. I don't wanna give away too much of the plot but basically Dracula is accidently brought back to life in Gotham by the Penguin who has just recently escaped from Arkham Asylum. The Joker is also on the loose & creates some problems. Dracula goes about making vampire zombies out of the Gotham City citizens & because of reports of a "Bat" the media starts to blame Batman for the crimes. The voice talent for the movies is really great too. Rino Romano returns as the voice of Batman / Bruce Wayne & does a great job. Peter Stormare is the voice of Dracula & does a decent "ethnic accent" helping Dracula seem like the eurotrash he is, ha ha! Tara Strong is the voice of Vicki Vale. Tara is a cartoon voice legend having done the voice of Batgirl on the earlier Batman: The Animated Series. She is a main character on the Powerpuff Girls & also adds her voices to a few main characters on the new DRAWN TOGETHER cartoon. Tom Kenny does a great job as The Penguin & adds alot of humor to the character. I was kinda surprised by Kevin Michael Richardson's version of The Joker. I thought Joker's voice would be done by longtime "Joker Voice Guy" Mark Hammel ( Yes, Luke Skywalker ) but Kevin does a great job! Finally, Alastair Duncan returns to do the voice of Alfred & has great sarcastic wit that is needed for the role. The movie runs about 84 minutes. The DVD also includes some extras which are mostly filler except for a neat documentry on the voice talent & their process of bringing the characters to life. I highly reccommend renting or buying this soon to be Bat-Classic! One last note: There's a special version of the DVD which is sold with 2 exclusive PVC figures of Batman & Dracula, something to look out for.

BATMAN BIRTHDAY CAKE PHOTO: The Animated Series

We seriously like getting e-mails from BAT-BLOG readers & one of the things we ask for sometimes are photos of their personal Batman Birthday Cakes! I know it's kind of weird but we think they have a lot of humor plus they are very cool if you think about the artistry that goes in to making them. We have been extremely impressed with all the variations we have received over the last year. Also, the main ingredient is LOVE. We wanna thank Jim for the great photo & if anybody else has a picture to share then please send it to us!!

Humor : Strange Wacky Funny Batman Arts & Crafts!

Here at the BAT-BLOG we love it when people get creative. It's cool when artists create art or objects while inspired by Batman but some of these are kinda weird! The 1st bat-item is a Set of Russian Nesting Dolls. Actually I like the crude artwork, sort of a primative style. The art they stole is from Batman The Animated Series so that's cool. The next photo is some Batman Thong Panties somebody made with cloth material...meow! The last picture is actually kind of neat. This is a custom Batman Costume somebody made for an American Girl™ Doll.

2 Very Cool BATMAN WALLPAPERS To Decorate Your Desktop!

"Wacky Wallpapers Wednesday!" The 1st Batman Desktop Wallpaper is a really great image of the Dark Knight pointing at you, yes YOU! It's an image taken directly from an animation cel of the classic TV Cartoon. The 2nd one is a hi-def scan of some amazing Jim Lee artwork from the modern-day Batman comic book. I love how Jim Lee draws buildings & the Zeppelin hot air balloons in the sky are always very cool, almost an iconic part of his style. The wallpapers we're always giving away here are really popular with readers so please shoot us an e-mail & let us know what kind of graphics you would like to see. More Joker? Maybe something from Batman Beyond? Let us know.

BATGIRL BACKGROUNDS - Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday!

On Wednesday, every week, the Bat-Blog Website posts 2 Free BATMAN Backgrounds. We call it "Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday!" We always try to go with some theme or idea & BATGIRL seemed like a good subject. So, here we go! The 1st image is a close-up shot of a Batgirl Action Figure. It's from when she was in the Animated Series TV Cartoon. I know the image is kinda strange, but please try it as a desktop background, it's actually sort of fun! Now, speaking of TV. The next wallpaper is a publicity photo of Batgirl from the 1960's BATMAN TV Show. Of course this is the Actress Yvonne Craig & she looks totally wonderful in her bat-suit costume, Hubba Hubba! We hope you enjoy these, but if you don't, then we have hundreds more available in our posts from the past. You can click the "More Wallpapers" Link Button down below:
