This show is titled "Revenge of The Reach" & the Special Guest Stars will be Blue Beetle & Guy Gardner with the Green Lantern Corps. ( The "Challengers of The Unknown" will be in the guests in the teaser-part of the show ). It will air on January 1st, 2010 on the Cartoon Network. The Basic Plot is: Blue Beetle is finally ready for a mission of his own and things go smoothly until he tries to deliver his captured villain to Oa, where he is attacked by the Green Lanterns! Blue's scarab is revealed to be linked to an army of evil aliens known as the Reach - does he have the power to resist their influence?
The Electric Playground got to interview a few of the voice actors from BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD. We get to hear from Diedrich Bader, the voice of Batman, who is always really great because he's very funny & seems like a really cool guy. Then there is John Di Maggio, who is the voice of Aquaman. Yes, "Outrageous!". We also get to hear from James Arnold Taylor, who plays 2 different superheroes on the show: Guy Gardner & Green Arrow.
Shown here is a photo taken of our friend Drew at a recent Halloween office party. He decided to be Batman but he didn't want to be the same one as everybody else. He wanted a Bat-Suit that would be totally unique. Well, mission accomplished! He created a version of Batman as if he were a character from the current Green Lantern "Blackest Night" storyline. I guess you could call him, the "Blackest Knight", ha ha. But the costume came out really well & you have to applaud the creativity involved. According to a report at the Newsarama website DC Comics will be publishing a new comic book format that is basically like a set of large newspaper pages. "Wednesday Comics" will be 14" X 20" broadsheet-sized, 12-part series featuring 16 stories starring DC characters told in a “Sunday Comics” style. It will be a weekly series & they're bringing out some major writing & drawing talent for this project. Also, each character, like Batman for example, will get a full-page story. Here's a list of the amazing art talent working on this: Kyle Baker, Neil Gaiman, Mike Allred, Brian Azzarello, Paul Pope, Walt Simonson, Dave Bullock, Dave Gibbons, Ryan Sook, John Arcudi, Lee Bermejo, Joe Kubert, Ben Caldwell, Kurt Busiek, Eddie Berganza, Jimmy Palmiotti, Amanda Conner and Karl Kerschel. The characters will include: Hawkman, Batman, Adam Strange, Metamorpho, Catwoman, Demon, Deadman, Kamandi, Superman, Sgt. Rock, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Teen Titans, Supergirl, Flash and the Metal Men. Whew! This really sounds like a pretty cool idea. Let's wish DC Comics some success with this! Oh yeah, almost forgot, this will be coming out this summer...so look for it then or stay tuned with the Bat-Blog because we'll be reporting the release as soon as there is a date.
Some of you might remember a post I did recently about some of the new "Crane Machine" Plush Toys by Toy Factory. Well, I was contacted by them & there has been a few revisions to the 2009 catalog. For one, they will not be doing the Rubber Basketballs they had planned but to make up for it they are extending there "DC Super Friends" toy line to include 6 new plush toys called "Buddy Plush". The set includes: Batman, Superman, Aquaman, Green Lantern, The Flash, & Robin ( You know which two I am gonna have to get, ha ha ).
New in stores right now is this very cool DC SUPERFRIENDS Matchbox Die Cast Cars 5-Pack Gift Set. Of course I'm reporting it here because there is a Batman-related vehicle in there, the Bat-Copter! Also included is the Flash Car, Superman Police Car, Green Lantern Van, & a cool industrial work truck with the DC SUPERFRIENDS logo! Personally I wish they had packaged these separately because all I want is the Bat-Copter, ha ha!
Here's a new, very cool, widget to promote the new DC UNIVERSE ONLINE Video Game. If you click on the character's head it acts like a bobblehead nodder...pretty funny, try it out! You can choose different characters like Superman, Batman, The Joker, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, & Harley Quinn. Oh man, it's hours of fun, ha ha!
Just a quick post: One of the websites I buy bat-stuff from featured a set of three "Classic DC Comics" Resin Head Knocker Nodders of Batman, Superman, & Wonder Woman made by a toy company named NECA. They had the items "pre-listed" meaning they were not available to buy yet. Then, they never came out or were instantly sold-out. Now, they are offering another set of Head Knockers called "Classic DC Comics, Series 2". This set offers another Batman & Superman in more of an "action pose". Also, the other character they have this time is the Green Lantern. I missed the first set & didn't get to report on them because they were "not avaliable". So, I will be getting this Batman Bobblehead this time & I'll search eBay for the 1st one. The thing I like the best about these Bobble-Head Nodders, mainly the Batman Nodder, is he is dressed in the Classic Silver-Age-Style costume. It's blue & grey with the "yellow capsule" bat-belt & the "yellow oval" chest bat-symbol...awesome! Here's a link if you want to pre-order them too:
I just opened a new bank account the other day & needed some checks. While surfing thru a webpage called CHECKS IN THE MAIL I found some Batman checks & address label sets. Actually they are DC Comics Super Hero checks & labels. Ya see, they make you also buy Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, & Flash. But, the checks & Labels with Batman are pretty cool! More News from TOY FAIR 2010: OK, you know the toy company named FUNKO? They make those awesome Wacky Wobbler Nodders. I really love those things. Well, now they have another division in their company that makes cute Character Plush Dolls ( or Plushes ). They're doing the Wizard of OZ, Alice in Wonderland, & the Justice League of America! To get things started here are Batman, The Flash, Green Lantern, & Superman. Now this totally makes me wonder since they finally ( finally! ) got the right to do DC Comics comic book characters then maybe, just maybe, they might start to make a few Funko Bobblehead Nodders. That would be so awesome!!

Yeah, it's my favorite time of the week...Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday! But this time I am proud to say that both "Batman Wallpapers" presented here were donated by two Bat-Blog Readers named Bacon & Andrew. The first one, made by Bacon, uses an image from the recent "52" comic book series where Batman temporarily becomes a Green Lantern. This "character" became so popular that DC even made an action figure of him. Yeah, like they don't make a figure of every "Batman" that's ever existed anyway, ha ha! ( Thanks Bacon for another awesome background. This "theme" was really unexpected & very cool ). The next one was done by our friend Andrew. Actually he used an original black & white artwork drawn by Norm Breyfogle & then he colored it. Like most Batman Fans Andrew really loves the comic book artist Breyfogle & did this sort of as an homage. The main focus of this art is Catwoman. It's a great image because she looks like a classic pin-up girlie...MEOW! ( Great job on the coloring Andrew & Thank You ).
