This post features a really great Vintage TV Commercial but it is also a test because I created it then posted it on YouTube. So, I am seeing if it works, ha ha! This was a famous TV spot for Zeller's Toy Stores. I really like the art direction of the animation, not bad. It also features the Riddler as the main villain...enjoy! Cute Family Photo: MAX, The Boy Wonder!!

Last night I received an e-mail from a Bat-Blog Reader, named Stu, who had this incredibly sweet family photo to share. This is his son MAX as Robin, The Boy Wonder!! This is probably the most adorable photo I have EVER received! Stu explained it a lot better in his e-mail & wrote, "My name is Stu and I live in NJ. I am a huge Batman fan - one day I will have to send you pictures of my collection. I love your blog and I read it almost everyday! Today I would like to share with you, and your readers, a picture of my son Max. Although he was only 3 and a half weeks old on Halloween he INSISTED on wearing his Robin costume." Ha Ha, he "insisted to wear it", that's funny! Stu, please tell your wife that this little baby boy is extremely cute & precious. I seriously love this photo, it's totally priceless! Thank you so much for sending it. I know that my readers will feel the same way, he's such a cute boy. Plus, you're raising him up right with him being a Batman Fan so early!! That's very cool.

Classic BATMAN AND ROBIN Paper Craft Toys!

Over at the TOY-A-DAY website they have 2 totally awesome "Vintage-Style" BATMAN & ROBIN Paper Craft Toys you can download & make. Basically they are some free PDF files you can send to your PC's printer ( or e-mail to Kinko's Copies ) & then cut-out to assemble. I think the artist did an amazing job capturing all the small details. The toys look pretty cool & while you're there be sure to check out the many different designs they have. But I gotta warn ya, these Paper Craft Projects are totally addictive!

BATMAN & ROBIN ART Cubist Paintings by Tommervik

WOW! There's some Batman-inspired artwork on eBay right now that I am totally loving! The artist's name is TOMMERVIK & his work is amazing! He does oil paintings of Batman and Robin in a cubist style & the color palette is completely beautiful. He also sells older pieces as a Giclee Art Print ( "Robin" example shown at bottom ). The "giclee" process is basically an art print made with an extremely high-end printer, very nice quality. Personally I would prefer the actual paintings...they're GREAT!

Photos: Original 1966 BATMAN TV SHOW Costume Props

I have a good friend named Scott Sebring who has an insanely great website called "THE BAT PAGES" & he is also one of the moderators at the 1966 Batman Message Board. Anyways, he was lucky enough to visit a very serious Batman Collector who owns a few of the original prop Batman & Robin costume pieces that Adam West & Burt Ward wore in the 1966 Batman TV Show. I mean, this memorabilia deserves to be in the Smithsonian Museum or something like that! He did a post about it at his site & if you visit you can see some incredible photos of the real-life Batman Cowl, Bat-Gloves, Robin Vest, etc...It's really an amazing thing to see, especially from a bat-history point-of-view. Auction News - Frank Miller BATMAN AND ROBIN Drawing

In "Batman Auction News" this week there was a special item on eBay that ended recently, some Frank Miller original artwork of BATMAN AND ROBIN as they appeared in his famous 1980's Graphic Novel, The Dark Knight Returns. It was drawn on DC Comics comic book cover stock paper ( measuring 12" X 17" ). Frank Miller sketched it in 1990 as a special 75th birthday gift to former DC Comics Editor Julius "Julie" Schwartz. This is a fully penciled and inked art illustration with a signed inscription from Miller on it, to Julius. The artwork is just totally wonderful, a great piece. The auction ended the other night at a closing bid around $11,300.00... WOW! I mean, who has that kind of money? Ha! But regardless of the price, it looks awesome & also has the bonus of having a lot of historical significance. Plus, I love that Robin is the "Carrie Kelley" version.

BATMAN AND ROBIN # 10 Comic Book Cover Art

Direct from DC Comics here is the finished color artwork for the cover to the new BATMAN AND ROBIN # 10 Comic Book. The artist, Frank Quitely, did an amazing job on it! It shows Robin about to kill Batman. Well, try anyway! I guess Damian is really going insane ...again! Personally I think that Dick Grayson needs to teach him some manners, ha ha! BATMAN , ROBIN, & NIGHTWING Desktop Wallpaper...and The JOKER Too!

He made this desktop wallpaper that features Robin, Nightwing, & Batman. Of course they're action figures, but the clever thing is that the whole picture looks like a Sears family portrait...IT'S AWESOME! The lighting, poses, & camera angle, everything, is done very well. I know a lot of people will love it, thank you Alexandre, good job. Now the next background is one that I made. It's not as creative but JOKER FANS should like it. It's the Clown Prince Of Crime as he appeared on the cover to the "Batman: The Man Who Laughs" Graphic Novel. It came out in 2009 & was done by Ed Brubaker and Doug Mahnke, a great book! TWO RARE 1960's BATMAN & ROBIN LP RECORD ALBUM COVERS

The other day I was surfing the net & found a really cool webpage that was all in German. I couldn't understand any of the language but from the pictures could tell this guy was very very serious about collecting records! He had a really great collection & as I was scrolling thru some of the eye-candy photos I found these 2 Super-RARE Batman & Robin LP Record Album covers that I have NEVER seen before! I knew they had to be very obscure & hard-to-find so I wanted to share them with my BAT-BLOG readers....Check 'em out! Original Comic Book Art: BATMAN FAMILY #14 Cover By Jim Aparo

As a young teen in the early 1970's, reading Batman comic books, one of my favorite artists from that period was Jim Aparo. He had a very distinct art style that you could notice right away. He worked on many different DC Comics at that time. I used to really love a vintage comic book titled BATMAN FAMILY. It only existed for a few years ( 1975 to 1978 ) but is now considered a classic. It featured Batman but the main focus was all of his various sidekicks: Robin, Batgirl, Alfred, Jim Gordon, Batwoman ( Kathy Kane ), Man-Bat, The Huntress, & even Ace, The Bat-Hound! ARGENTINA: 1978 DC SUPER HEROES Pepsi-Cola Soda Pop Bottle Caps Promotion

In Argentina, in 1978 & '79, DC Comics teamed up with Pepsi-Cola for a very cool DC SUPER HERO Promotion! They had special Super Hero Bottle Caps placed on their Pepsi Soda Pop Bottles with very cool graphics of a comic book hero or villain. Quite a few of them were Batman-related so that's what you see in the 1st photo, click on it for a larger version. They made ones for Batman, Robin, Commissioner Gordon ( Comisionado Gordon ), Batgirl ( Batichica ), Bruce Wayne ( Bruno Diaz ), The Joker, The Riddler ( El Acertijo ), The Penguin ( Pinguino ), Catwoman ( Gatubela ), Ra's Al Ghul ( Ragul ), & The Scarecrow ( El Espantapajaros ). The next two photos show a special in-store Paper Place Mat that contained a "Collector Board" on one side ( in color ) & a "Checker Game" on the other. These photos also show the other Bottle Caps of Superman, Aquaman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Flash, etc...so be sure to click on one of those to see them! I gotta say that I am totally loving the vintage graphics on all of this stuff, great stock art! The last photo is a super close-up of the BATICHICA Bottle Cap. I really love the sound of that word, Batichica! Speaking of her, these photos were all sent in by our good friend Milotik who lives in Argentina ( Thank You! ). These DC Comics Bottle Caps are a part of his amazing Batgirl Toy Collection. You see, Milotik's main collecting focus is on her & that's very cool. Amazing 1966 BATMAN TV SHOW Custom Action Figure Dolls by Darkside Customs

A new friend to the Bat-Blog, named Rick, sent me an e-mail about his cool hobby of making custom dolls & action figures. He calls his company DARKSIDE CUSTOMS & his work is totally amazing! His focus is on the many different characters from the classic 1966 Batman TV Show. The attention to detail is totally insane! Plus, I really enjoy that he made a few of the obscure villains. Now of course he made a Batman & Robin ( Adam West, Burt Ward ) but the rouge's list includes: Catwoman ( Julie Newmar ), The Riddler ( Frank Gorshin ), Bookworm ( Roddy McDowall ), Mr. Freeze ( Otto Preminger ), The Madhatter ( David Wayne ), & Egghead ( Vincent Price ). Oh Yeah! The COVERED Blog is a website where they ask other Comic Book Artists & Graphic Designers to re-create some classic comic book covers in their own unique style. They usually show the original book next to the new piece & it's always very clever. This is such a great concept that I wish I would have come up with the idea, ha! Dave's VINTAGE BATMAN TOY & MEMORABILIA Collection!

Check out these great photos from a Bat-Blog Reader named Dave who wanted to share some of his Batman Toy & Memorabilia with us. He has a really nice collection going here ( Please click the small pics up above to see larger, more detailed, photos ). I like how it's displayed & I also love all the vintage stuff. It's neat that he blends a lot of new pieces with the older items. I sort of crack-up a little bit every time I see that Official "Batman Television". I have the DVD Player ( love the design ) but never bought the TV. It's a really cool item that I'm gonna try to find someday! My favorite piece has got to be the Mego JOKER VAN, that thing is RARE! Plus, I guess for sentimental reasons, I had it as a little kid. I also like the "Batman Executive Set", 60's Soaky Bottle, Action Figures, Ideal Helmet, the Die-Cast Corgi Batmobiles, the "Carmine Infantino" Statue, Autographed Photos, the Vintage Halloween Costumes & Masks, the 1966 Coloring Books...the list could go on & on, all GREAT stuff!
