Beautiful BOX ART for the 1967 Aurora Batman TV Batcycle Model Kit

I received a very excellent photo in my e-mail box this morning from our friend Ed ( Be sure to click on the picture up above for a larger, more detailed, photo ). He wrote, "It's the box art for the 1967 Aurora Batcycle Model Kit. This comes courtesy of the Box-Art Den Yahoo Group. The Group owners take scans of plastic model boxes, regardless of condition, and restores the artwork. Once a week they offer high resolution scans for free download, or you can purchase high resolution prints from them of restored box art. The Batcycle was this week's offering." WOW! Funny BATMAN and BATGIRL Humor Photos & Drawings

We all need a good laugh every now & then so for that reason I thought I would post some of these humorous photos & funny drawings I came across recently. The 1st one is what Batman & Batgirl Fans would look like on the Southpark TV Cartoon, if they went to a comic book convention, ha ha! The next one was sent in by a Bat-Blog Reader & shows a Penguin dressed as The Dark Knight, actually it looks more like the 60's Adam West version, ha ha. The last one is a parody of a classic 1980's Prince record album using the Batgirl Bat-Cycle (Yvonne Craig version ) from the 1966 TV Show. The original source is on the left to refresh your memory, a pretty good likeness, ha ha ha ha!

Fisher Price Imaginext DC SUPER FRIENDS - ROBIN With BATCYCLE!

Just a quick posting here. This is a pic sent in by our good friend Batmobilly! He said he just saw this action figure at Wal-Mart & it's sort of a very hard one to find so he took a picture. It's the ROBIN WITH BATCYCLE from the Fisher Price Imaginext DC SUPER FRIENDS toy line. Later, I told Billy that one day I was at Toys-R-Us. They had a HUGE area for all this great DC SUPER FRIENDS Action Figure stuff ( Vehicles, Play Sets, Figures, everything! ). There was a TON of toys & it took-up almost 1/2 the row. Out of curiosity I started to add-up all the prices in my head. Just to buy all the stuff they had that one day it would have cost like $300 dollars! The thing to keep in mind is that this is not even all the toys they have made ( or will make ). Not even close. Plus some other stores have "Exclusives", etc... So, I guess if you're like me & can't afford to buy it all ( I tend to be a "Completest Collector" ) then at least just get the few pieces that you really like. Well, this ROBIN figure with Bat-Cycle would go on that list because it's really cool!

Batman Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday! VINTAGE BATWOMAN ON HER BAT-CYCLE

REMEMBER : Every Wednesday is "Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday" at the BAT-BLOG!! Each week we try to theme the wallpaper in a way so that everybody gets something they like. This time we thought we would use the crazy theory "Something old, something new". The 1st wallpaper, featuring vintage 1940's graphics of Batwoman on her Bat-Cycle, was actually made by a BAT-BLOG Reader & sent to us thru our Bat-Blog Message Board! I know it sounds kinda corny but it was actually a very proud moment for us here, ha ha. He did a great job on it & we really love the "Golden Age" Batman! The 2nd wallpaper is a more recent version of Batman & we like the gothic buildings with the moonlight behind him, pretty cool. VINTAGE BATMAN Toys & Memorabilia 1960's & 70's

Today I thought I needed to do a post about Vintage Batman Toys. This is a crowd favorite & really the main reason for the blog, the joy of collecting old toys. The 1st photo is a picture of an old magazine ad for the Batman Bat-Cycle Riding Toy that I completely stole off a friend's website, ha ha! He has a great page that I like to visit to see old toy catalog pictures. It's called PLAIDSTALLIONS.COM & you should check it out sometime. The 2nd photo is of an extremely Super-RARE Set of "Official Batman JOKER EYES" novelty glasses. These would almost be worthless out of the package because they are so generic but as you can tell the Header Card says it all. I really love the vintage graphics on this piece, very cool! The next item is from the UK & quite RARE also. It's the Husky Extra 1966 Batmobile Diecast Car made by Corgi, #1202. The last photo is a nice collection of Vintage Signet Paperback Books done around the time of the 1966 Batman TV Show. The Los Angeles L.A. Times unveils the first official photo of The Bat Cycle from THE DARK KNIGHT Batman Movie that's due out 2008. Yes, in the sequel to Batman Begins, Batman gets a new vehicle called the BAT-POD. This BatPod is a futuristic Bat-Cycle with grappling hooks, machines guns ( why does it have guns? ), & huge tires just like the Tumbler Batmobile. Also, as an extra bonus we're throwing in a new high-resolution photo of the BAT-SUIT costume to be worn by Christian Bale. This is the same photo that was featured in Entertainment Weekly but better! So...What's everybody think about the BATPOD BAT-CYCLE?!! We love it!!

THE DARK KNIGHT Movie CUSTOM MV AUGUSTA F4 Batman Motorcycle ( Reese's Hershey's Candy Contest )

Some Bat-Blog Readers might remember awhile back, during "The Dark Knight" movie, we were one of the very very first websites to announce the Hershey's Reese's Chocolate Candy Bar "Win The Bat-Bike" Contest. Well, recently we were contacted by the person who won! Her name is Kathy & she's a Realtor. I can't believe it but she actually won! Here's a few pictures of it in her garage ( Yes, I'm jealous!! ). It's an MV AUGUSTA F4 Motorcycle totally customized with "Dark Knight Batman" graphics. The attention to details is totally insane. They even engraved ( or embossed ) the "Reese's Limited Edition" logo on the handlebars, ha ha! It's really an extremely beautiful batbike & Kathy must be pretty proud to own it. I wanna thank her for contacting us because it's kinda cool to learn who actually won the thing! Thank you Kathy ...Can I borrow it this weekend?

New 2008 Hot Wheels 1:50 Scale 1966 TV Show Bat-Cycle Batman Bike

Here's a prototype photo showing the NEW Hot Wheels Batman Bat-Cycle ( Large, 1:50 Scale ) that will be released by Mattel later this year. Of course this is the Classic Bat-Bike motorcycle with sidecar used by Adam West & Burt Ward in the vintage 1966 Batman TV Show. Oh my God, it's beautiful! Remember, in the TV series, the side-car would come off by itself so Robin could go in another direction as a go-kart-like ride. The great thing about this being issued is that it's a bat-vehicle you don't see that often. I mean, the only toy of this that comes to mind is the vintage 60's model kit by Aurora & then later a more recent version by Polar Lights. Which, by the way, are some very cool model kits I can highly recommend. Let's all hope that later they do the Bat-Copter, the Customized Bell Helicopter from the 1966 movie, that would be very cool! DC Comics Super Hero Collection Special: BATMAN AND THE BATCYCLE Lead Figurine From Eaglemoss in The UK

OK Now, This is pretty cool! You might have read here at the Bat-Blog before about a company in the UK called Eaglemoss who issue those special DC Super Hero Collection Lead Figures ( In England they call them "figurines", oh la la ). They make these very small, but very detailed, mini-figures of all the DC Comics comic book characters cast in lead. This company is going crazy! I mean, there are like almost 40 something of these figures now! Well, anyway, they have this new "Special Edition" one coming out soon called BATMAN AND THE BATCYCLE. Oh man! It looks pretty awesome! Now before you totally fall in love please keep in mind that this Bat-Cycle is probably NOT a large full-size statue. If ya wanna see how small these things are then be sure to click the "Figurines" Tab at their website. You'll see a photo of an artist employee painting one. NEW BATMAN TOY NEWS: 2009 HOT WHEELS BATMOBILE VEHICLES 2nd Series

Photos for the 2nd series wave of Hot Wheels Batmobile Vehicles are starting to appear. The 1966 Batboat & '66 Batmobile Car with Trailer Hitch are in stores now & the others should arrive soon after. The top photo is from a recent Hot Wheels Collector Convention where they showed off the 1989 Movie Batwing, 1989 Movie Batmobile, 1966 Bat-Cycle ( reissue ), Super Friends Batmobile, & the Bat-Boat with 1966 Car. The next picture shows the back of the packaging for the Bat-Boat & on that we get to see the Dark Knight Bat-Pod Motorcycle, very cool! These vehicles are really great & I can't wait to get them all!!

LOS ANGELES, CA - Zap! Pow! Bam! The Superhero: The Golden Age of Comic Books, 1938-1950

At the Skirball Cultural Center, in Los Angeles, they are having an exhibit called "Zap! Pow! Bam! The Superhero: The Golden Age of Comic Books, 1938-1950". It features a mind-blowing collection of superhero and comic book rarities, including the first sketch of the Joker, the Original 1966 Batman TV Show Bat-Cycle, the earliest known sketch of Superman, a RARE copy of Action Comics #1 ( 1st appearance of Superman ), Captain Marvel Toys, Wonder Woman Memorabilia, & much much more! The event runs from February 19th - August 9th, 2009. I wish it wasn't so far away from me or I would go, it sounds extremely cool! BATMAN BATMOBILE VEHICLES - Vending Machine Ride in Australia!

Check this out! if you live near Australia then you might have seen one of these Batman Rides in your local Retail Store! It's a Vending Machine with Ride-On Toys of the Batmobile, Batcycle, & Bat-Jet Ski!! Plus, it just has incredible graphics all over it...I want it! This photo was sent in by a good friend named Belinda & I'm trying to get her to steal it for me. I hope she's able to get away with it. I'll keep you updated on that, ha!

THE New DARK KNIGHT BATMAN Bat-Pod Toy Reminds Me of...

Anybody who grew up during the 1970's had, or knew a kid that had, the Evel Knievel Stunt Show Bike Playset!! This vintage toy is a certified classic! It was made by Ideal & basically it was a toy motorcycle with "action figure" doll of Evel Knievel that had a special hand-crank launcher. You locked the bike into it, gave a few cranks, hit a button, & zzzoooommm! off it went! I had one as a kid & played with it for many hours. It was a highly successful toy line in the 70's & was even recently reproduced. OK, this brings me to the photo of the new Batman Bat-Pod Batcycle toy ( from the Dark Knight movie )you see in the photo. Notice any resemblance?! I have 2 nephews & I know I'm gonna have to get them one of these, it looks very cool! Of course I'm gonna have to get me one too, Mint In Box of course!

1966 TV Series BATCYCLE & SIDECAR 1:12 Scale Hot Wheels In Stores Now!

Our good friend, & ace reporter, "Batmobile Billy" just sent us a picture from his trip to the local Toys-R-Us Store & guess what he saw?! YES! The 1966 TV Series BATCYCLE AND SIDECAR 1:12 Scale Hot Wheels Car, Actually "Motorcycle" ( ha ha ), by Mattel was spotted & the retail price is around $40.00. Not too bad, for something so extremely beautiful! The 2nd photo shows the small 1:50 Scale vehicle next to it. Thank you Billy & great job on the photos, they're crisp, sharp, clear, & pretty! This is a Batman Toy that I am gonna HAVE to buy later...it's wonderful beyond words! In fact, I cried a little when I 1st saw the photo, ha ha! Batman Collector Shares a Few Photos of New Merchandise

Here are some photos of a few recent Batman products that are pretty clever. Our friend Chris sent these pics of a few new items he bought. The 1st one is a Batman knitted cap ski-mask you wear & when you pull it down it makes a cowl, awesome! The next 2 photos are a very interesting Batman Bat-Cycle ( or is it Bat-Bike? ) Pillow. It's kinda large & I like that it is also sort of excessively cute. Chris said that one of his favorite details to the motorcycle is that the tire thread looks like the bat-logo shape, a nice touch. Yeah, Chris, Thank you for sending the pics. As a major Batman Fan & Collector it's always great to see what Bat-Merchandise is out there.
