A Good Bat-Blog Citizen, named Ralph, sent us this amazing photo of the time he got to meet Adam West on the set of "Living in TV Land". Mr. West even wore a special Batman Cowl for the photo! Oh man, that totally cracks me up! Adam is known for having a very dry sense of humor & he likes to play a lot of practical jokes. Knowing what a HUGE Batman Fan Ralph is he must have been freaked out when getting this picture taken. It is pretty cool! Thank you Ralph for sharing this wonderful pic, it's great! Too poor to afford an original Batman Movie Cowl Replica? Well, the Instructables website has a "How To" on building the perfect mask...out of duct tape! Yes, it's actually a pretty clever idea & also looks very cool! I totally love this "Mount Batmore" photo because it's both funny & very clever! This is our friend Steve & he took this pic while on vacation in South Dakota. While there, he went to the Mount Rushmore National Memorial. The photo sort of shows what the sculpture would look like if they added "Adam West". Yes, I think we need to start a petition, ha ha! I wanna thank Steve for sharing this wonderful photo and, before I forget, I gotta say that 1966 Bat-Cowl is awesome! As a side note: He says he's going to take a few more pics like this at other famous landmarks... and I can't wait to see them!
Recently on eBay, a very cool auction company called PROFILES IN HISTORY auctioned off the original costume mask/cowl that George Clooney wore in the Batman & Robin movie. I can't remember the exact price but I think it went for $6,000.00. Now, that's a bargain for a one-of-a-kind piece like that! This company has also sold the original Batman, Robin, & Batgirl costumes, from the same movie, in previous lots. Those all brought around $12,000 each. This company always has the most impressive items. "Where do they get those wonderful toys?!", ha ha! The only company I can think of that might compete with them would be Heritage Auctions from Dallas, Tx.

He has many versions of all the cowls, costumes, Batmobiles, carded toys, etc...It looks like he converted his basement into a Batcave, pretty cool stuff! A friend sent me this link to a very cool art project that everybody can do ( Thanks Brian, you ROCK, Sir ). Basically you print the PDF file, cut it out, & you have a Paper Batman Mask! I suggest using some kind of card stock. I can't wait to make mine, ha ha! It sort of reminds me of the cowl worn by Adam West in the 1960's TV Show...AWESOME! Come to think of it these would be very cool to make for a little kid's birthday party. The mask was created by a very talented artist named Katie. Here's a link to her page:
Here's a Vintage Family Photo sent in by our good friend Chip Kidd. Now, this is not "Chip when he was a small child", ha ha! No, it's just a photo that a friend sent to him because it is Batman & then he sent to us. WOW! This photo is extremely beautiful, both in subject matter AND quality! Because of the style of the Batman Superhero Halloween Costume, & the fashion of the clothing worn by Alfred, The Butler ( OK, probably his father or Grandfather, ha ha! ), I would guess it's from the early 1960's. So, the fact that it looks even older is pretty cool. I mean it looks Vintage 40's at least! Maybe it's the fact that it's Black & White or maybe because the architectural details are sort of European-looking. But the costume having the "Yellow Oval Bat-Symbol" on the chest is a dead give-away that's it's at least 1960's. Anyways, thank you to Chip Kidd for sending this wonderful photo, I really appreciate that & know everybody will love this cool pic! Now, If any other Bat-Blog Readers have similar "Batman Halloween Costume" photos then I am inviting them to send them in too!
Here are some photos of a few recent Batman products that are pretty clever. Our friend Chris sent these pics of a few new items he bought. The 1st one is a Batman knitted cap ski-mask you wear & when you pull it down it makes a cowl, awesome! The next 2 photos are a very interesting Batman Bat-Cycle ( or is it Bat-Bike? ) Pillow. It's kinda large & I like that it is also sort of excessively cute. Chris said that one of his favorite details to the motorcycle is that the tire thread looks like the bat-logo shape, a nice touch. Yeah, Chris, Thank you for sending the pics. As a major Batman Fan & Collector it's always great to see what Bat-Merchandise is out there. If any other readers come across brand-new items that are kinda quirky or unusual then please let us know.
What the hell! I opened my e-mail this morning & was really shocked with this photo. This "Muscle Man Batman" guy is a super-serious body builder & all his muscles look like they're gonna POP! I think the cowl is like the one used by Micheal Keaton in the 1989 Batman movie....that's cool! I used to work at a gym a really long time ago & these guys do some serious working out to get THAT big.
OK, This post is for all you "Millionaire Collectors" & is sort of in 2 sections. In one, Profiles in History is holding an auction on May 1st, 2009, where they are selling off a huge proportion of the Hollywood Wax Museum statues. These are the original wax statues displayed at the famous museum & there are a ton of great ones like James Dean, Lucille Ball, Wizard of OZ, Henry Winkler as The Fonz, John Travolta, Bob Hope, etc...way too many to list here but it's totally crazy how many there are! Included in that sale are life-size figures of 1989 Batman ( Michael Keaton ), '89 Joker ( Jack Nicholson ), & 1992 Catwoman From Batman Returns ( Michelle Pfeiffer ).
Now, the 2nd part of this post is about Profiles in History ALSO selling original movie props from another collection, sort of two-auctions-in-one. The Batman-related items in that sale include: a Screen-Used Cowl from Batman & Robin, Jim Carrey's Riddler Cane from Batman Forever, Val Kilmer's Sonar Bat-Suit Costume, 1966 Catwoman Cat-Suit & Belt ( Lee Meriwether ), Adam West's Tights, Val Kilmer's Panther Cowl, Arnold Schwarzenegger's Mr. Freeze Costume & Freeze-Ray Gun ( sold separately ), etc...Both sales are spread out over a 2 day period & will surely have to be visited by many Batman Fans. A good friend to the Bat-Blog, named Brian, told me his son is Batman. I didn't believe him at first but then he showed me this photographic proof, right here! WOW! He is Batman!! OK, I swear that I don't mean for the Bat-Blog to be all "Adam West - Batman Day" today, it just worked out that like that, ha ha! But I had to post these 2 new photos I found because I'm really proud of them. A friend of mine, named Chuck, who's an extremely talented artist & sculptor, makes these totally amazing 1966 Batman Cowl Replicas that I consider to be Masterpieces of ART. I'm really trying to be sincere here when I say that & I'm not trying to be sarcastic or anything, I mean, just look at the photos! Chuck made this by hand & it's almost better, no, it is better, than the original ones they made for the 60's TV Series. The attention to details, in every way, is totally insane! It's just completely beautiful! I seriously wish I could afford one of them. In fact, I would buy 2. One to put in a glass display case with security guards watching it 24 hours a day & the other to wear every single moment of my life!
A new Bat-Friend named Markus sent us some extremely cool photos the other night & he said, "My name is Markus and I'm from Sweden, 20 years old. I'm a big Batman Fan and really enjoy your blog. I have two major Batman pieces in my collection. I have the Original Robin Mask worn on screen by Chris O'Donnell in the 1995 BATMAN FOREVER movie . I also have the original Batman Cowl worn by George Clooney in BATMAN AND ROBIN ( 1997 ). I know most fans dislike these movies but the suits themselves are pretty cool and extremely well made. As a Batman Fan I really enjoy owning these pieces." Thanks Markus, the photos are awesome & I can only imagine how cool it is to see these amazing pieces of bat-memorabilia, in real-life, everyday! I know that the "Joel Schumacher films" are sort of laughed at today but they are a part of bat-history & actually, "Batman Forever" wasn't too bad, ha ha. I know that for a lot of younger Batman Fans these movies were sort of their introduction to the character & for that reason, when they get older, these movies will be very special to them. Something to think about is that every fan sort of has their "own Batman"...the one they loved a s a kid. So, looking at it that way, these Movie Props are sort of guaranteed to become even more special & valuable in the future. I think these are great pieces, I even like the display cases, & thanks again for sharing these pics. Last May 2nd was FREE COMIC BOOK DAY at every friendly neighborhood Comic Book Shop in the USA. Included in the list was GROUND ZERO COMICS in Tyler, Texas. But the cool thing was they had BATMAN there! OK, not the "Official Batman" like Christian Bale, Michael Keaton, Adam West, or others. But the next best thing...our friend, Deacon Bill! Bill wore a really excellent "1966 Batman TV Show" style costume with cape & cowl! He even had the cool Bat-Belt to complete the really well-made "Adam West" Bat-Suit!
