OK, a Bat-Blog Reader sent me this photo the other day & it totally cracks me up! This is a "Homemade Bat-Pod" Motorcycle. It's just like the one used by Batman in The Dark Knight movie! Well, not exactly "just like it", because this one is made out of cardboard, bubble wrap ( tire tread ), black duct tape & LOVE, ha ha! The cool thing is that the Bat-Signal Headlight actually works. Come on, ya gotta love this thing, it's great ART!!
I was kinda bored tonight so I surfed around eBay a little bit for some cool Batman Toys...HOLY BAT-BIKE, BATMAN!! Or I guess I should say, "Joker-Bike", ha ha! Here's a completely Customized 2005 Honda RC51 Motorcycle with custom JOKER airbrushed artwork! This thing is totally crazy! Now, I gotta say, I think the airbrush artist did an amazing job. Joker's Face on the side of the bike looks really good, plus all the other details like the Joker Playing Cards & the "Ha Ha Ha" symbols...nice!
Every Wednesday we post some free Batman desktop wallpapers...it's called "Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday "! Well, I was gonna post some this afternoon but got busy with some personal problems, sorry. So, here they are now & just before midnight, ha ha! The 1st one is an image from the current BATMAN R.I.P. storyline & it was found at the official DC Comics website. The other graphic is the "Blueprints" of the Bat-Pod Motorcycle from The Dark Knight movie...enjoy!
We all have our own personal "Lottery Winner" fantasy & we would all take a really cool vacation 1st. Then buy an extremely beautiful house with very nice designer furniture & then I would have to have a 60's Batmobile in the garage! After all of that I would have to buy this Custom Batman BATBIKE Motorcycle I saw in eBay about a month or 2 ago! The guy customized it with the graphics of the George Barris 1966 Batmobile. It's black with the bold red pinstriping. There are a few well-placed Bat-Symbol logos & the red stripes on the "redline" tires is a nice touch. It just has the motif of the vintage Bat-Ride...way cool! Personally I think it needs gun turrets, but hey, that's me.( Click The Small Picture For a Large More-Detailed Photo ).
The Los Angeles L.A. Times unveils the first official photo of The Bat Cycle from THE DARK KNIGHT Batman Movie that's due out 2008. Yes, in the sequel to Batman Begins, Batman gets a new vehicle called the BAT-POD. This BatPod is a futuristic Bat-Cycle with grappling hooks, machines guns ( why does it have guns? ), & huge tires just like the Tumbler Batmobile. Also, as an extra bonus we're throwing in a new high-resolution photo of the BAT-SUIT costume to be worn by Christian Bale. This is the same photo that was featured in Entertainment Weekly but better! So...What's everybody think about the BATPOD BAT-CYCLE?!! We love it!!
Target Stores have an "Exclusive" Movie Master Batman Action Figure Vehicle! It's the BAT-POD Motorcycle from THE DARK KNIGHT movie. The detailing looks pretty sharp & at only $19.99 they are going quick so hurry!
Some Bat-Blog Readers might remember awhile back, during "The Dark Knight" movie, we were one of the very very first websites to announce the Hershey's Reese's Chocolate Candy Bar "Win The Bat-Bike" Contest. Well, recently we were contacted by the person who won! Her name is Kathy & she's a Realtor. I can't believe it but she actually won! Here's a few pictures of it in her garage ( Yes, I'm jealous!! ). It's an MV AUGUSTA F4 Motorcycle totally customized with "Dark Knight Batman" graphics. The attention to details is totally insane. They even engraved ( or embossed ) the "Reese's Limited Edition" logo on the handlebars, ha ha! It's really an extremely beautiful batbike & Kathy must be pretty proud to own it. I wanna thank her for contacting us because it's kinda cool to learn who actually won the thing! Thank you Kathy ...Can I borrow it this weekend?
Here's a prototype photo showing the NEW Hot Wheels Batman Bat-Cycle ( Large, 1:50 Scale ) that will be released by Mattel later this year. Of course this is the Classic Bat-Bike motorcycle with sidecar used by Adam West & Burt Ward in the vintage 1966 Batman TV Show. Oh my God, it's beautiful! Remember, in the TV series, the side-car would come off by itself so Robin could go in another direction as a go-kart-like ride. The great thing about this being issued is that it's a bat-vehicle you don't see that often. I mean, the only toy of this that comes to mind is the vintage 60's model kit by Aurora & then later a more recent version by Polar Lights. Which, by the way, are some very cool model kits I can highly recommend. Let's all hope that later they do the Bat-Copter, the Customized Bell Helicopter from the 1966 movie, that would be very cool! Our friend Paul, who owns a store in Denver called Fashionation, went to a trade show in Las Vegas for his clothing store company. While there he saw this amazing display by Warner Brothers for their Batman Franchise. It showed off some of the Dark Knight products like Backpacks, T-Shirts, Jackets, etc...But, the BIG DEAL, was the fact that they used the original Batpod Batman Motorcycle as a centerpiece of the display! As you can imagine he freaked out but managed to get a few very cool photos. So, Ladies & Gentlemen, we present....The BAT-POD!!! Oh yeah, if you look in the 2nd photo you can see the Mach1 Racer from the Speed Racer Movie but who cares about that, ha ha!
Is it the Batpod or the Bat-Pod? Ha Ha! Either way this new motorcycle is the latest bat-vehicle for Batman ( Christian Bale ), to be used in the new 2008 Dark Knight Batman movie. I can't wait to see the new Batcycle in action! You get to see it roar through the streets of Gotham City in the recently released movie trailer & it looks really great! This is a quick post to just mention 2 Brand-New Batman Toys that are coming out during The Dark Knight Batman Movie. The 1st one is a Batman Slot Car Race Set made by Tyco RC. Looks like they're gonna have the Tumbler Batmobile & a Gotham City Police Car ( GCP ) as the vehicles racing through the streets of Gotham City, very cool! The next pic shows a Tumbler Batmobile toy with the Bat-Pod motorcycle coming out of the front. I bet this happens in the movie ( sorry for the spoiler ) & it's kinda funny because a friend of mine the other day said this was gonna happen. Now he has proof!
Anybody who grew up during the 1970's had, or knew a kid that had, the Evel Knievel Stunt Show Bike Playset!! This vintage toy is a certified classic! It was made by Ideal & basically it was a toy motorcycle with "action figure" doll of Evel Knievel that had a special hand-crank launcher. You locked the bike into it, gave a few cranks, hit a button, & zzzoooommm! off it went! I had one as a kid & played with it for many hours. It was a highly successful toy line in the 70's & was even recently reproduced. OK, this brings me to the photo of the new Batman Bat-Pod Batcycle toy ( from the Dark Knight movie )you see in the photo. Notice any resemblance?! I have 2 nephews & I know I'm gonna have to get them one of these, it looks very cool! Of course I'm gonna have to get me one too, Mint In Box of course!
Our good friend, & ace reporter, "Batmobile Billy" just sent us a picture from his trip to the local Toys-R-Us Store & guess what he saw?! YES! The 1966 TV Series BATCYCLE AND SIDECAR 1:12 Scale Hot Wheels Car, Actually "Motorcycle" ( ha ha ), by Mattel was spotted & the retail price is around $40.00. Not too bad, for something so extremely beautiful! The 2nd photo shows the small 1:50 Scale vehicle next to it. Thank you Billy & great job on the photos, they're crisp, sharp, clear, & pretty! This is a Batman Toy that I am gonna HAVE to buy later...it's wonderful beyond words! In fact, I cried a little when I 1st saw the photo, ha ha! Here are some photos of a few recent Batman products that are pretty clever. Our friend Chris sent these pics of a few new items he bought. The 1st one is a Batman knitted cap ski-mask you wear & when you pull it down it makes a cowl, awesome! The next 2 photos are a very interesting Batman Bat-Cycle ( or is it Bat-Bike? ) Pillow. It's kinda large & I like that it is also sort of excessively cute. Chris said that one of his favorite details to the motorcycle is that the tire thread looks like the bat-logo shape, a nice touch. Yeah, Chris, Thank you for sending the pics. As a major Batman Fan & Collector it's always great to see what Bat-Merchandise is out there. If any other readers come across brand-new items that are kinda quirky or unusual then please let us know.
OK, Everybody has seen the Famous Custom Bat-Pod that was recently on eBay & here it is! Here are some amazing photos, sent in by a Bat-Blog Fan named Marc, of an extremely cool BAT-POD Motorcycle from THE DARK KNIGHT Batman Movie that he recently made. Yes, he really made this thing & it works! It was built / fabricated by Marc and his brother Shanon at their shop in Melbourne, Florida. Ironically they took over the building that was previously occupied by Billy Lane of Choppers Inc. ( the Discovery Channel "Biker Build -Off" Winner ). They thought it would be a great location to build bikes. Marc & his brother have been extreme comic book fans since they were very young and they love a challenge whenever possible. His Brother asked him if he could build the Batpod and after looking at the bike online a few times they agreed to build it, mostly because of the challenge involved. Most everyone who has seen the bike said it was un-buildable. That's all the motivation they needed, ha!
They started by scaling the dimensions from pictures they acquired online of the original bike. After much measuring and calculations to achieve the necessary balance and weight distribution, they began to build it. The bike is constructed from 1/4 inch solid steel plate and 1/4 wall thickness steel tubing. Unfortunately there are no kits or parts available for this bike so every piece had to be made from scratch. This proved to be much more of a task than they had imagined in the beginning. It's amazing how many tiny little brackets and parts are on that bike. But the goal from the beginning was to achieve absolute authenticity. So they continued welding and cutting and grinding until the finished product was what they wanted. The motor covers, gun mounts and arm guards are made from hand laid fiberglass. The finish is a mat nickel and a mat black. Also, to remain true to the original, the bike is powered by a 650cc Honda XR motor. All of the chains and drive lines are hidden internally inside the frame. The rims had to be specially made to achieve the necessary off-set for balance and handling. Marc said that he has been the only person willing ( or stupid enough, ha ha ) to ride it yet. And it is far from a comfortable ride. But it is by far the most unique and attention grabbing thing he has ever built or ridden. To say that it gets attention is like saying the Atlantic ocean is a puddle. Everywhere they take the Batpod they get mobbed by people with a million questions and requests to take pictures with the bike. It's really great to see how many super comic fans are out there. Many of them are hardcore bikers that you would never think were comic fans. But they all love it! That kind of response has made the 1500+ hours of building and the numerous cuts and burns worthwhile.
And for all the Sci-Fi Fans out there, the next project they're working on is an exact working street legal replica of the Light Cycle from the new TRON LEGACY movie! It will be an all electric bike.

One of the most unusual Batman items I like to find while on the hunt are unlicensed "Bootleg Toys". I mean, they are usually not done very well & are always extremely weird. Plus, they make nice "filler" for display. Here's a few examples: The 1st pic is a Vintage 1970's Batman & Robin Motorcycle Bat-Cycle Toy from Italy. I actually love the detailing of this item. It's alot nicer than most other cheesy bootlegs. The 2nd picture is from the 70's also & is a photo taken at some county fair of a Batman Carnaval Game. I guess you throw a bean bag or ball into his mouth to win a prize, looks like hours & hours of fun! The 3rd pic has got to be the weirdest one. It's a pull toy Bat-Phone & Batmobile combo. It reminds me alot of the Classic Fisher Price Pull Toy. This would be great for display just because it's so wacky!! The last photo is an unopened package of Batman Fireworks that I think were made in Hong Kong. I love the vintage style graphics & the face on Batman is kinda funny. I also like how the word "Batman" is written in a chinese-style font...cool!

There are 3 of them that have "Character Faces" like Heath Ledger's Joker, Christian Bale's Batman, & Aaron Eckhart's Harvey Dent. There's an action shot of the Batman Bat-Pod Motorcycle flying through a window in Gotham City. ( I really love the Batpod one, a lot! ). And then there's one with all 3 faces...awesome!
