Over at the BOINGBOING GADGETS website they recently featured this Homemade Batmobile that totally cracks me up! A friend to the Bat-Blog sent this link & I almost died laughing ( Thanks Patron, I needed that! ). It looks like some Bat-Fan took a 1973 Opel GT & customized it to be a very cool Batman car! It's kinda weird. I know a ton of major Batman Collectors all over the world but here where I actually live ( Oklahoma City, OK ) I only know one. His name is Billy. He has an amazing Batman collection. I guess I should say "Batmobile Car collection" because that's his main focus. We have recently become friends & one day at lunch he said, "As soon as I get my new digital camera I'll have to send you some pics for the Bat-Blog." So, the other day I received a few e-mails loaded with these photos. Now the funny thing is that he made a special frame template to use with the pictures...I didn't know he was gonna go that far but they look pretty cool, very professional! This 1st set of photos show sort of 3 different catagories: Cookie Jars, Pillows, & Slot Car Sets. Billy, thank you for taking the time to photograph these. They look great & I appreciate that a lot! Well, it looks like our good buddy BATMOBILLY has been pretty busy hitting the retail stores lately. I guess it's a good time to maybe find some cool stuff again! These photos were taken at Target & show a few neat new bat-items. The 1st photo is a BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD Batmobile Toy Car that Billy said was a Toys-R-Us Exclusive, but is now being sold at Target in different packaging, that's weird! But I totally love the design of this vehicle! ( Be sure to click on it for a larger version ). The next 2 photos are some more of those "value-priced" Imaginext Action Figures by Fisher Price ( Target Exclusives ). They are Mr. Freeze & The Penguin...cool! The last pic shows a nice new assortment of the B:TB&TB ACTION LEAGUE Mini-Figures ( I think they called them "Minis" ). It looks like they've done Batman ( Blue ), the Joker, Bat-Knight, The Demon Etrigan, Owlman, Blue Bowman, Batman ( Grey ), The Top, Sportsmaster, & Green Arrow. Hey Billy! You photographed the Demon Figure twice! ( Ha Ha! Just Kidding ). I gotta say that out of all of these mini-figs my total favorite has to be the Joker...he's awesome! Thank you Billy for taking the time to take these cool pics, I appreciate that. If any other Bat-Blog Fans come across any brand-new Batman Merchandise while surfing the stores then please let us know. Remember, sharing the joy of collecting is the main focus of this website.
I know this guy named Dean Trippe who is a Graphic Artist / Illustrator & he is extremely talented. The cool thing is that he is also a serious Batman Fan. Well, recently he became inspired by his appreciation of the British DOCTOR WHO TV Show & decided to meld it with his love of the Silver-Age Batman & Robin stories. So, he created this parody comic book cover as sort of an homage ( click on it for a larger, sharper, version ). The art is really great & I totally love the vintage-style Batmobile car! A friend of mine over at the 1966 Batman Message Board shared this link he found of a very cool '66 BATMAN-Themed Video Game he found online. It's one of those "Free Flash Games" you see a lot & this one was created by TV LAND awhile back to promote the fact that they had the Batman TV series & Movie on their channel. It's called "BAT-ATTACK, The Road To Gotham". To be honest, it's really sort of cheesy, ha! But if you're a Batman Fan it's actually kind of fun to play. A lot of the villains ( The Joker, Catwoman, Penguin, etc...) from the TV show make an appearance. Go ahead & give it a try, see how high YOU can score, by clicking HERE!
Here is a snapshot of a Custom Batmobile used for a kid's ride in Rouen, France ( near Paris ) that our good friend Stephane saw last weekend. OK, first of all I am so jealous she is in France, ha ha! I've always loved that part of the globe & I will visit there someday. Second, thank you Stephane for sending this wonderful photo...it's the French Batmobile, how cool!! You must have freaked out when you saw it & I appreciate that you thought of the Bat-Blog.
Shown here are a few pics sent in by our Good Friend BATMOBILLY who very recently found these New TARGET EXCLUSIVE Batman Action Figures. They are a part of the DC SUPER FRIENDS Imaginext toy line by Fisher Price. The 1st photo shows their Exclusive Blue Batmobile with a few Super Hero & Villain Action Figures. We showed this awhile back in the original box but these are out of the package, loose. Which is cool because you get a way better look at the individual figures. The next 2 pics are some brand-new figures that you can also ONLY buy at Target. They include a special Batman Figure & one of Two-Face. I'm really loving the Two-Face one because, not only does the figure look pretty cool but, that Special Silver Dollar Coin is AWESOME! So, the next time to you hit this retail store be sure to keep an eye out for them. Also, I should mention that the Exclusive Batmobile with 6 figures is on Clearance Sale. There's gonna be a few new variations on the Hot Wheels 1966 Batmobile Car that has caught a lot of people by surprise. It looks like Mattel will create a reissue of the '66 Batmobile they made last year ( what a surprise, ha ha! ) for 2009. This new version will sport some new tires on the car & the header card will have 2 variations: one has a plain background with concept art of the Batmobile ( nice! ) & the other one is identical but has some "snowflake" graphics on it. These have already started to surface on eBay so I guess they're out now. Remember, be patient & look for these in stores. Don't pay greedy scalper prices! I remember when the 1st original version came out people were paying $100.00+ for these babies. I couldn't believe it! Go look on there now, you can buy them for 99 cents, ha ha!

It's neat that he blends a lot of new pieces with the older items. I sort of crack-up a little bit every time I see that Official "Batman Television". I have the DVD Player ( love the design ) but never bought the TV. It's a really cool item that I'm gonna try to find someday! My favorite piece has got to be the Mego JOKER VAN, that thing is RARE! Plus, I guess for sentimental reasons, I had it as a little kid. I also like the "Batman Executive Set", 60's Soaky Bottle, Action Figures, Ideal Helmet, the Die-Cast Corgi Batmobiles, the "Carmine Infantino" Statue, Autographed Photos, the Vintage Halloween Costumes & Masks, the 1966 Coloring Books...the list could go on & on, all GREAT stuff! Thank you to Dave for sending the wonderful pics, I appreciate that a lot. If any other Bat-Fans out there would like to share pics of their collections then that would be great! Here's a photo of our friend Carlos. He got to see the original Batmobile car from the 1989 BATMAN movie at the Six Flags Theme Park in Texas!! OK, I just meant for the title to this post to be a joke. Carlos DID NOT TRY to steal the '89 Batmobile! But you know he wanted too. See how he's all ready to leap under that roped-fence thing? I bet he saw a Security Guard at the last minute & then pretended like, "Oh, I'm just getting my picture taken...I'm not doing anything", ha ha! Thanks Carlos for sending us this wonderful photo & I'm just teasing about you being a thief. I'm just jealous because I have never got to see this beautiful custom movie car in real life, ha!
OK, I have said it a million times & I totally mean it, I love to see other people's Batman Toy Collections! It's always a game of "I got that, I want that, where did he get that?", ha ha! Here are some pics sent in to us by a Bat-Blog Fan named Ernest. He says that his main focus are the Batmobile Cars & just about anything with the famous "Yellow Oval" Batman Symbol Logo. I gotta say that there are some very cool items here! Of course it's almost impossible to pick out a favorite item here because everything is so awesome but I have to say that I really love the HUGE Remote Control Batmobile Car! I remember when it came out & I couldn't afford it at the time. But, someday, IT WILL BE MINE! Another neat thing to mention are the 2 Custom Driving-Light Covers that Ernest made. They are those 2 "Flat Yellow Circles" with Bat-Symbols cut-out of them that you can see in the bottom-center of the very last photo. They were made to fit the large Driving Lights on the front of his truck! These must look pretty cool all lit-up. Ernest, ya gotta send us a photo of that! In the mean time, I wanna thank you for taking the time to shoot all these great pics. Plus, you have the start of an amazing Batman Collection, keep it up! I want to invite ALL Bat-Blog Readers to send us photos of your collection...show us what you got!
Oh man! I gotta say that Old Toy Catalogs are some of the very best reference material out there you can get. Here's a really great example. This is a page from the 1977 Sears Catalog showing the Batmobile Pedal Car. This thing is a beautiful piece of ART that deserves to be displayed in a museum! It's kinda funny how they show that one little kid hanging all over that lame Ferrari Race Car when we all know every little boy wants the Batman car! The other funny thing is the Batmobile only costs $39.99. Just click on the above photo to see the larger version of this picture, it's pretty sweet!

Ha Ha, This is sort of funny news because it's true! Recently, while Warner Bros was busy promoting the new DARK KNIGHT Batman movie in the UK, they got a ticket on the Tumbler Batmobile for illegal parking! Apparently they parked the car in a "No Parking" area while displaying the car in public. The British Police Officer had no choice but to give them the ticket. I have some friends over on MySpace called Wicket Toys. Their real names are Jon & Andrea and their hobby is to photograph & share their cool toy collection. They mainly seem to focus on the HOT TOYS Figures but they love a ton of other collectibles too. They recently sent me these pics of their Batman Toy Collection ( click on it for a larger version ). The top one features their HOT TOYS figures from THE DARK KNIGHT Batman Movie. I really want that TWO-FACE doll & the ones of the JOKER are really great too. OK, they're ALL super-awesome! The set included a toy bridge, Batman figure, Batmobile, & comic action activator. At the Official HOT WHEELS COLLECTORS CLUB™ Webpage Mattel posted this Brand-NEW promo photo of what the NEW 1966 Batman BATMOBILE is gonna look like! This appears to be a CGI picture, & not the actual diecast toy car, but it gives you a really good idea of what it's gonna look like!! From the look of it this is gonna be the small "Hot Wheels-Sized" Car & not the larger version. Mattel has plans to do three versions: small, medium, & large with each new larger size becoming more detailed....we can't wait! Since today is "Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday" & tonight is Christmas Eve I thought I would post a few that are holiday themed. The 1st one is actually a photo sent in to us from a reader named Iris who is from Germany. She has a cool collection of standees in her hallway & decorated them this year for Christmas with Santa Claus hats! I thought this photo was pretty funny & the idea is also very clever. The 2nd one is a now-famous graphic of the 1966 Batman TV Show Batmobile Car. It's sort of a parody of this classic Christmas song, "Jingle Bells, Batman smells, Robin laid an egg, THE BATMOBILE LOST IT'S WHEEL, & the Joker got away...HEY!". Everyone here at the Bat-Blog wants to wish everyone in the whole wide world a very very MERRY CHRISTMAS & a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
