OK, Today is the day! Today we are announcing the winner for the latest Bat-Blog Contest! Last night, at Midnight, we randomly picked a name out of the hat to see who won the Brand-New Hot Wheels (1:12 Scale) 1966 TV Series BAT-CYCLE With SIDECAR! I always love that part of the contests, getting to see who actually won the item we're giving away. I know I'm totally stupid but it's just a lot of fun, ha ha! Plus, this prize must have been pretty good because a ton of people sent in requests, that's awesome! I hope to have another contest pretty soon so keep an eye out for that. OK, enough stalling, ha ha! It's time to announce the winner! The lucky person this time is none other than Jonathan K. of Melbourne, Australia! WOW! Somebody from "down under" won ...that's cool! Plus, I'm gonna pack this prize very carefully because Australia is pretty far away from where I live & I want this prize to arrive safely. I know you're gonna love it because it really is very cool. I think that Mattel did a really great job on creating this item, the detailing is really well done.

I received a very excellent photo in my e-mail box this morning from our friend Ed ( Be sure to click on the picture up above for a larger, more detailed, photo ). He wrote, "It's the box art for the 1967 Aurora Batcycle Model Kit. This comes courtesy of the Box-Art Den Yahoo Group. The Group owners take scans of plastic model boxes, regardless of condition, and restores the artwork. Once a week they offer high resolution scans for free download, or you can purchase high resolution prints from them of restored box art. The Batcycle was this week's offering." WOW! Just a quick posting here. This is a pic sent in by our good friend Batmobilly! He said he just saw this action figure at Wal-Mart & it's sort of a very hard one to find so he took a picture. It's the ROBIN WITH BATCYCLE from the Fisher Price Imaginext DC SUPER FRIENDS toy line. Later, I told Billy that one day I was at Toys-R-Us. They had a HUGE area for all this great DC SUPER FRIENDS Action Figure stuff ( Vehicles, Play Sets, Figures, everything! ). There was a TON of toys & it took-up almost 1/2 the row. Out of curiosity I started to add-up all the prices in my head. Just to buy all the stuff they had that one day it would have cost like $300 dollars! The thing to keep in mind is that this is not even all the toys they have made ( or will make ). Not even close. Plus some other stores have "Exclusives", etc... So, I guess if you're like me & can't afford to buy it all ( I tend to be a "Completest Collector" ) then at least just get the few pieces that you really like. Well, this ROBIN figure with Bat-Cycle would go on that list because it's really cool!
Since it's now November I thought I should get another Bat-Blog Contest going so, HERE WE GO! This time we're giving away a 1:12 Scale Hot Wheels 1966 TV Series Bat-Cycle with Sidecar, in the Original Box! This is just like the one in the 1960's Batman TV Show driven by Adam West & Burt Ward! If you have not seen one of these cool toys in person yet they are really nice, I mean, very well made. Now, the rules are pretty simple. All you have to do is send us an e-mail with your Full Name & Address. Also, be sure to put "BAT-BLOG 1966 BAT-CYCLE CONTEST" in the title. The contest runs until November 15th, 2009 till 11:00pm Central Time. The lucky winner will be randomly picked out of a hat on that night at midnight & then announced right here at the Bat-Blog the very next day, on November 16th. Here's a prototype photo showing the NEW Hot Wheels Batman Bat-Cycle ( Large, 1:50 Scale ) that will be released by Mattel later this year. Of course this is the Classic Bat-Bike motorcycle with sidecar used by Adam West & Burt Ward in the vintage 1966 Batman TV Show. Oh my God, it's beautiful! Remember, in the TV series, the side-car would come off by itself so Robin could go in another direction as a go-kart-like ride. The great thing about this being issued is that it's a bat-vehicle you don't see that often. I mean, the only toy of this that comes to mind is the vintage 60's model kit by Aurora & then later a more recent version by Polar Lights. Which, by the way, are some very cool model kits I can highly recommend. Let's all hope that later they do the Bat-Copter, the Customized Bell Helicopter from the 1966 movie, that would be very cool! OK Now, This is pretty cool! You might have read here at the Bat-Blog before about a company in the UK called Eaglemoss who issue those special DC Super Hero Collection Lead Figures ( In England they call them "figurines", oh la la ). They make these very small, but very detailed, mini-figures of all the DC Comics comic book characters cast in lead. This company is going crazy! I mean, there are like almost 40 something of these figures now! Well, anyway, they have this new "Special Edition" one coming out soon called BATMAN AND THE BATCYCLE. Oh man! It looks pretty awesome! Now before you totally fall in love please keep in mind that this Bat-Cycle is probably NOT a large full-size statue. If ya wanna see how small these things are then be sure to click the "Figurines" Tab at their website. You'll see a photo of an artist employee painting one. Now this special one might be a little bigger but I'm not sure. For more details be sure to check out their UK website by clicking HERE!
At the Skirball Cultural Center, in Los Angeles, they are having an exhibit called "Zap! Pow! Bam! The Superhero: The Golden Age of Comic Books, 1938-1950". It features a mind-blowing collection of superhero and comic book rarities, including the first sketch of the Joker, the Original 1966 Batman TV Show Bat-Cycle, the earliest known sketch of Superman, a RARE copy of Action Comics #1 ( 1st appearance of Superman ), Captain Marvel Toys, Wonder Woman Memorabilia, & much much more! The event runs from February 19th - August 9th, 2009. I wish it wasn't so far away from me or I would go, it sounds extremely cool! Check this out! if you live near Australia then you might have seen one of these Batman Rides in your local Retail Store! It's a Vending Machine with Ride-On Toys of the Batmobile, Batcycle, & Bat-Jet Ski!! Plus, it just has incredible graphics all over it...I want it! This photo was sent in by a good friend named Belinda & I'm trying to get her to steal it for me. I hope she's able to get away with it. I'll keep you updated on that, ha!
Our good friend, & ace reporter, "Batmobile Billy" just sent us a picture from his trip to the local Toys-R-Us Store & guess what he saw?! YES! The 1966 TV Series BATCYCLE AND SIDECAR 1:12 Scale Hot Wheels Car, Actually "Motorcycle" ( ha ha ), by Mattel was spotted & the retail price is around $40.00. Not too bad, for something so extremely beautiful! The 2nd photo shows the small 1:50 Scale vehicle next to it. Thank you Billy & great job on the photos, they're crisp, sharp, clear, & pretty! This is a Batman Toy that I am gonna HAVE to buy later...it's wonderful beyond words! In fact, I cried a little when I 1st saw the photo, ha ha! OH MY GOD!! Here's the official "blueprint" of the 1966 BAT-CYCLE ( or is it Batcycle? ) that Mattel will be releasing later as a 1:12 Scale Hot Wheels Batman TV Show Diecast Vehicle ( Was this thing in the movie? I can't remember, I think it was ). It looks pretty cool & we can't wait to see the real thing! It looks like Fisher Price just keeps expanding their DC Super Friends toy line even more! They now have a whole brand-new set of figures & vehicles called HERO WORLD. There's a Transforming Batmobile, Batman & Batcycle, and Joker with his Funny Car. The figures include: Superman ( comes with Krypto The Dog ), Mr. Freeze, The Penguin, and The Joker. Plus, they're a whole new size, their scale is somewhere between Imaginext and the Super Friends figures. be sure to click on the last photo for a larger version where you can see the new stuff really good. At the next San Diego Comic Book Con be sure to look out for this SDCC Exclusive Boxed Set of Hot Wheels 1:50 Scale BATGIRL CYCLE, 1966 BATMOBILE, & BATCYCLE Diecast Cars! The photo shows what the packaging looks like & it's pretty cool ( Click the image up above for a larger version ). The display box has sort of a "Batcave" design, very neat. Now, I already have the 50th scale Batman Car & Bat-Cycle so hopefully Mattel will be selling the Batgirl Motorcycle all by itself at the convention also.
