ORIGINAL BATMAN ART BACKGROUNDS - Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday!

This week I thought I would post 2 totally unique Batman Wallpaper Backgrounds that I bet you will not find anywhere else! The 1st one is an example of a Pop Art Painting that I came across on the internet. After saving the picture I forgot to get the name of the artist so if anyone knows him please have him contact me. I seriously love this piece of work & it also kind of cracks me up! It shows Batman & Robin as Zombie Monsters...I mean, you can't get anymore awesome than that! The 2nd Batman Wallpaper was done by an artist friend named Sean Hartter. If you're a regular Bat-Blog Reader then you will probably recognize his style. In this one he did a portrait of The Dark Knight. The thing I like best about it is that it's kinda hard to tell if he's the "Modern Batman" or the "1940's Movie Serial" version. OK, obviously it's the newer version but the colors & grainyness kinda remind me of an older era. Plus, it was exclusively done just for this blog, so that's great! ( Thanks Sean ).

BAT-BLOG CONTEST - BATMAN BUST STATUE From HEROES OF THE DC UNIVERSE Series

YES Boys & Girls! It's time again for a World Famous Bat-Blog Contest where this time the prize we're giving away is an incredible BATMAN BUST Statue from the HEROES OF THE DC UNIVERSE Collection ( it's the 2nd piece to the series )! Oh man, it's so beautiful! Seriously, when I opened the box I was kind of shocked by how nice this thing actually is ( photos don't do it justice ). The details are really insane. You can see "wrinkles" in Batman's Bat-Suit Costume that look very realistic. The base of the statue is meant to look like Gotham City's Dark Knight is perched on a rooftop, near a Gargoyle, & that part looks like it is actually stone & brick material. This hand-painted, cold-cast porcelain bust measures approximately 6" high x 3 1/4" wide x 4 1/2" deep and is packaged in a 4-color box. Overall, the whole thing is very highly detailed. Batman is holding his Bat-a-rang & it looks very real too. The rope is actually a very thick wire & looks kinda neat. Also, the paint job on this baby is really great... the colors are extremely accurate! I could go on & on about how wonderful it is but if you win you'll see. Now, how to enter. OK, This is kind of funny! As the main writer of the Bat-Blog I am always constantly stressing out about how I can promote the site. It's a very difficult thing to do. If I were to study the growth of this blog ( or ANY blog for that matter ), it's an extremely slow process to obtain new readers. It totally drives me crazy, ha ha! For example, awhile back I printed a small ad-sheet that I gave to people to advertise the site ( I still do it even today ). But one time, about 2 years ago, I got all "Guerrilla Marketing" about it, & taped one onto a Newspaper Vending Machine. Now the part that's totally hilarious is that it lasted for almost 2 1/2 years! I always wonder if it had any value at all...did it bring in any new people? Probably not, or if so, not too many. One thing I've learned is that the best response is by "word of mouth". So, what I'm gonna do here is ask every single reader of the Bat-Blog, at least those who enjoy the site, to please tell all their friends about it. You can do it inside a Message Board, with a Banner or Bulletin on your MySpace page, a Link on your own Blog, a Link-Post on your Facebook Page, e-mail a friend who likes Batman, etc... But please don't do what I did this one time & plaster a sign on some property, ha ha! If you need to know ways to promote the Bat-Blog or if you need a special-sized banner then just please shoot me an e-mail. I would be more than happy to help! One last thing, I hope a lot of people out there enjoy this site & I want to thank everyone who comes back to read it every single day. It really means a lot.

People who have been reading the Bat-Blog for awhile might enjoy this, I hope, ha! But I was recently interviewed by a fellow Blogger & Batman Fan, named Jon, who writes the awesome RANDOM ACTS OF GEEKERY website. At his site he wrote some profiles of "Comic Book Related" Bloggers called "The Way of The Geek". I was # 6 in the series. Wow! It was really an honor to be included in this group of Writers. The BAT-BLOG Just Received Some More Great Press!!

Wow! Holy Public Relations, Batman! Just recently the BAT-BLOG has been honored with attention & some good press by 2 major websites! The 1st one is URBAN RETRO. This lifestyle-based website covers all the new cool products that are out today. They specialize in alot of the vinyl artist toys but also cover good design in general. They gave us a glowing review at their blog & we didn't even ask them too, GOSH! Thanx U.R. for the kind words & great publicity! This is a site ALL the BAT-BLOG readers should check out for cool news. ( Please Click on the small picture above for one that is large enough to read ). The 2nd promo came from the Ultra Famous COMIC RELATED Website where they made us the SITE OF THE MONTH For December!! We were really excited about this because C.R. is a very cool site that I really respect for bringing cool comic book related news. OK, I know we have been kinda crazy with the contests lately but it's because we have received a lot of material from generous readers & there's some that I already had planned so they just all clashed together, ha ha! Famous book designer & author Chip Kidd teamed up with Super-Collector Saul Ferris & Photographer Geoff Spear to create this wonderful "Batman Japanese History" book. Basically, it reprints a ton of totally lost material done by the Manga ( comic book ) Artist Jiro Kuwata during the 1966 Batman TV Show craze in Japan and, as a bonus, features a lot of beautiful Vintage 1960's Batman Toys made in Japan. The book is really great & we were lucky enough to get a few signed copies to give away as a contest! You read that right! There's more than one autographed book so your chances of winning are way better than those other crappy "Batman Fan" wannabe-websites, ha ha!
