ORIGINAL BATMAN ART BACKGROUNDS - Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday!

This week I thought I would post 2 totally unique Batman Wallpaper Backgrounds that I bet you will not find anywhere else! The 1st one is an example of a Pop Art Painting that I came across on the internet. After saving the picture I forgot to get the name of the artist so if anyone knows him please have him contact me. I seriously love this piece of work & it also kind of cracks me up! It shows Batman & Robin as Zombie Monsters...I mean, you can't get anymore awesome than that! The 2nd Batman Wallpaper was done by an artist friend named Sean Hartter. If you're a regular Bat-Blog Reader then you will probably recognize his style. In this one he did a portrait of The Dark Knight. The thing I like best about it is that it's kinda hard to tell if he's the "Modern Batman" or the "1940's Movie Serial" version. OK, obviously it's the newer version but the colors & grainyness kinda remind me of an older era. Plus, it was exclusively done just for this blog, so that's great! ( Thanks Sean ).

Johnny Romeo's BATMAN POP ART Acrylic & Oil Paintings

I just discovered a Pop Artist in Australia who, right now, is totally inspired by Batman & other comic book imagery. His name is Johnny Romeo. He's mainly a painter but also makes prints & books. Judging his artwork you can easily see that he is inspired by both Jean Michel Basquiat & Andy Warhol. But I do have to admit that he's a great colorist. Plus these paintings do look pretty cool! Retro-Style 1966 BATMAN MOVIE POSTER Art Print

New BATMAN, ROBIN, & JOKER T-Shirts To Keep An Eye Out For!

I'm always trying to keep up with Batman T-Shirts Designs & when I come across some that I think are pretty cool I like to share them. Here are 3 new ones that I think are very well done. Now the 1st one is my favorite because it's a graphic of what the original 1966 TOPPS BATMAN Bubble Gum Card Package ( Wax Wrapper ) looked like. That real-life piece of Bat-memorabilia has always been very special to me because I really loved these Trading Cards as a very little kid! The next one has more of a "Pop Art" feel about it & I'm actually trying to figure out who's comic book art they used. I'm thinking it might be the artist Dick Giordano but I'm not sure. Either way, it's the "Silver Age" Batman that I have always liked with the blue / gray bat-suit & yellow-oval bat-symbol logo. For the last example I included this one with split-faces of Batman & The Joker. The reason is because it totally reminds me of all the T-Shirts that were produced during the 1989 Batman Movie craze. Pop Artist Stephen Jones Gets Inspiration From Vintage Batman!

A friend at MySpace sent me a link to an artist who gets a lot of inspiration from Batman, especially the golden & silver age era. His name is Stephen Jones & his stuff is pretty cool. His most recent painting is an image taken from the famous Adam West LIFE Magazine cover from 1966. Another piece of art is a Circle Painting ( I think that's called "Tondo" in the art galleries ) with a graphic that looks a lot like Batman & Robin artwork by the Golden Age Comic Book Artist Dick Sprang. The last one, is easy to guess, was totally inspired by the 1966 TV Show ( That one is my favorite! ). Down below is a link where you can check out more of his art. A. K. A. Gallery ( Oklahoma City, OK ) Presents Colleen Cunningham, a Batman Inspired Artist

On February 1st ( 6:00 pm to 9:00 ), in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma the A. K. A. Gallery will have an opening reception for an artist named Colleen Cunningham. This artist uses a technique known as collage where she pieces together art prints that are very surreal & heavily influenced by pop culture. From her current work it seems her main inspiration is Batman! Up above are just a few examples. It looks like she has appropriated Batman, Robin, & Catwoman. She has some other works with Marvel Superheros too. I would like to invite our readers in this area to come check it out. The gallery is located at 3001 Paseo in the Paseo Arts District. Batman + Fine Art = Cool!

Our friend Brian sent us this extremely cool Black & White Art Photo that shows Batman waking up & getting out of bed. Apparently, he lives in a super-minimalist house ...Awesome!


The next picture was one that I found from an art gallery that had a show of "Blotter Acid Art". Blotter Art is a movement that gained popularity a few years ago where they print designs on a perforated-sheet of actual LSD Acid Blotter Paper. They look kinda neat when framed & have sort of a political statement automatically attached because of the "drug culture" aspect of the paper. For non-druggies this is the kind of paper drug dealers use to sell LSD. They drip the chemical onto each square & when addicts buy them they tear off some squares. If you don't want a full dose you just tear a piece in half, or a "half hit". Of course these Batman ones don't have the drug dipped on them. They're just for looks.

Fine Art: BATMAN AND ROBIN Pop Painting By Ron English!

Anyone who knows me knows that I'm a HUGE Fan of Fine Art, or any kind of art really! One of my favorite "Modern Day" Pop Artists is a guy named Ron English. He uses a lot of Pop Culture references in his work & sometimes he's very political. He's becoming quite popular so many readers might already know about him, great stuff!! Here's one of his Pop Art paintings showing a middle-aged Batman & pre-adolescent Robin. ( Robin is smoking, ha ). Every time I see this painting it cracks me up, Ha Ha! Original BATMAN POP ART PAINTING By Doug Bloodworth

I have a friend named Ducki who lives in Florida. There's a local artist there named DOUG BLOODWORTH & while checking out his website she came across this one piece of artwork that she knew I would like. It's a Pop Art Painting with a scene showing a Batman Comic Book & all the fixings for a Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwich ( click on it for a larger picture with more detail ). It's done in a sort of photo-realistic style & is totally awesome! Doug is really talented. He sort of bounces around in styles, mainly Western Art & Pop. OTTO LANGE Batman-Inspired Artist Does Adam West Portrait

I know I have been on sort of an ART quest lately but it's still Batman-Related! Also, the responses in e-mails have been really good too. Here's an example of what I'm talkin' about. Here's a picture of an oil painting of Adam West ( from the 1966 TV Series ) done by a modern-day Pop Artist named OTTO LANGE. He's been doing some pretty cool stuff lately & will even have some of his Mego Doll paintings featured in the new Mego "World's Greatest Toys" Guide Book by Benjamin Holcomb. Batman GOTHAM POST NEWSPAPER Graffiti Street Art Stickers

Carrie, a friend to the BAT-BLOG, sent us this recent photo showing what a graffiti artist is doing n her hometown. The artist has made stickers he uses to vandalize newspaper vending machine into looking like they are the GOTHAM POST Newspaper of Batman's Gotham City. Oh my god! BATMAN Represented in The World of Fine Art, HA HA!

On a personal note I'm a HUGE fan of ART. I go to art galleries & museums, a lot! I read a ton of art magazines & books too. I've been this weird my whole life. So, when I see art prints or paintings that have used Batman in some way it's kind of a thrill. Here's a few I have seen recently. The 1st photo is of an art print by Paul Slater. It's titled AMERICAN GOTHAM & it totally cracks me up every time I see it, ha ha! Paul Slater is one of Britain's most popular illustrators. He has a huge client list & is represented by The Cutter Gallery. This next "Batman" Piece of Art is something I came across on the internet the other day. It's a wood-relief painting that is sort-of like a sculpture in the fact that it has a 3-D quality about it. It's made to look like Egyptian Hieroglyphics from a long time ago but appropriates the Batman character's image....hilarious! Please be sure to click on this to see a slightly larger picture. I'd like to give more info about this artist but all of his writing is in Italian, ha ha!

1966 Batman TV Show Inspired THE PENGUIN Painting!

Here's a photo of a Pop Art Painting I did for a friend's small son named Austin. They did their child's room with a retro theme & I thought this image of The Penguin was perfect. I found this picture in one of my Vintage 1966 Batman Board Games. It was on one of the playing cards & is sort of a common "clip art" drawing that appeared on many different bat-products. The painting was done with acrylic paint on canvas & was pretty BIG. He was really excited to see his new room, he's a great kid ( Hi Austin! ). The painting was displayed above his bed & he later told me it was his favorite part of his newly decorated space....that was kinda cool.

Batman Wallpapers : The Dark Knight For Your Desktop!

OK, I guess I have some explaining to do. This week I have not been posting every day like I usually do because my computer got a very VERY nasty virus!! It was a 3 day nightmare trying to fix it all back but I was finally able to reformat & now my computer is better than ever. Now, the BAT-BLOG is famous for posting 2 brand-new FREE Batman Wallpapers every Wednesday. We call it "Wacky Wallpapers Wednesday", ha ha! Well, my PC was down so I didn't get to post them then so I thought I would post them now. Here are 2 wonderful desktop wallpapers you can use to brighten your computer's desktop or use as a background in a MySpace layout. The 1st one is my favorite because it reminds me of POP ART & I think the artwork was done by Carmine Infantino, one of the greatest Batman Artists...ever! The 2nd one isn't too shabby either...enjoy!

Batman Graffitti Art Mural : Memphis, Tenn.

Hey Readers, click on the small photo above to see it large, it's worth it! A friend to the Bat-Blog named Andy ( Memphis, Tennessee ) sent us this amazing photo. Andy wrote, "I have enclosed a photo of a painting of Batman that was painted on the side of a comic book shop here in Memphis, Tennessee. And here is the kicker, it was painted by...Jerry "The King" Lawler! Yes, THE Jerry Lawler of WWE wrestling fame! He is a Memphian and a fantastic artist. Unfortunately the painting is long gone. I took the pic about 10 years ago. I hope all the Bat-fans enjoy it. I have more Bat-stuff to send you soon. Thanks again and the Bat-Blog is Bat-tastic!" Wow Andy, another wonderful photo from you. Fine Arts : Batman Graffitti Art From Europe

Some people consider graffitti to be vandalism but I think it's an art form. yes, I said ART! I know it is because some of the people doing it are very talented. There are different types of graffitti art: spray paint, acrylic paint, stencils, wheat-pasted paper cutouts, vinyl stickers, etc... RON ENGLISH Modern Day POP ARTIST Batman Painting

I'm a really HUGE FAN of a modern day Pop Artist named RON ENGLISH. He's a very talented guy who uses pop culture imagery in a very subversive way. Most of the time is work is kinda political & might be saying some hard truths about how evil large companies are. Companies like McDonalds, Wal-Mart, Disney, etc.. are all spoofed by him sometimes. He also works in many mediums. His 4 major areas are paintings, prints, "fake" billboards, & even plastic toy action figures. The image up above shows one of his paintings with Batman & another popular icon : Richie Rich. This a really large painting with great graphics ( Click on the small pic above to see a larger photo ). I thought I would feature it here because I guess it's Batman related, plus it's cool!! Batman BAT-MITE Pop Art Painting by Javier Hernandez

BAT-MITE! OK, I just saw this painting the other night & I have to sort of show it off...mainly because it's done by done by my good buddy Javier Hernandez and it's pretty cool. He did it as a donation for the Shel Dorf Artist Fund. Shel Dorf recently died & he was responsible for creating the San Diego Comic Con some 40 years ago. Now, you might have heard of Javier before.
