BATMAN & BATGIRL Desktop Background Wallpapers

It's always "Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday" here at the Bat-Blog & this week I thought I would go totally RETRO 70's! The 1st Batman Wallpaper uses a hi-res graphic I found of vintage 1970's artwork by Neal Adams. This was a popular image used on a lot of toy packaging, like Corgi Toys Diecast Cars. Of course I am a huge Neal Adams fan so I had to use that! The next background is just as classic. It's Batgirl as drawn by Carmine Infantino. Another great comic book artist from the Silver Age. I think older readers will like these because they bring back nostalgic feelings & younger people will enjoy them just because the artwork is so good. Please let me know what YOU think about them. If you ever want a certain wallpaper design or a character that's kind of obscure just let me know & I'll see what I can do.

NEW BATMAN BACKGROUNDS - Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday!

OK Boys and Girls! It's Wednesday, so you know what that means... Wacky Wallpapers!! This 1st one is totally amazing! It's a beautiful retro-style image of BATMAN created by Graphic Artist Chris Franchi. Actually, it's the "top half" of a poster he's working on. The image is an homage to the work of 2 major Batman Comic Book Artists from the past, Carmine Infantino and Dick Sprang. I love the use of the benday dots & the very slightly off-register color. It looks like an enlarged photo of a comics page... COOL! The next Wallpaper is a detail shot of an original Animation Cel from the BATMAN BEYOND Animated Series. I've always loved this TV show & hope others will like this too. ( A Special Thanks goes out to Chris Franchi for sharing his artwork, it's great! )

New BATMAN T-SHIRTS Over At SUPERHERO STUFF

The other night I was kinda bored & decided to check out what kind of new Batman Merchandise there was out there. My main focus was some kind of cool T-Shirt or other clothing. One website that I totally love to buy from is called SUPERHERO STUFF. They have great service & an awesome variety. While there I saw they had a bunch of brand-new T-Shirts & here's the one I think I'm going to buy. It has a graphic on the front of a Silver-Age Comic Book Cover that features artwork by Carmine Infantino. Actually, it's Detective Comics # 380. I don't know, I think it's pretty cool. What do you think? Oh, if you're wondering where their website is I placed a link down below, check it out sometime.

ART: The Most Elaborate BATMAN COMIC BOOK TATTOO I Have Ever Seen!!

OK, The Bat-Blog is sort of famous for posting Batman-related tattoos that readers send in. We get one every now & then but this one is totally crazy! Of course I mean "crazy" in a good way, ha ha! This is the most elaborate one I have ever seen...EVER! It belongs to a new friend named Damien who actually went to a Tattoo Convention & had a few different Tattoo Artists do this all in one day!! There are images of Batman, Heath Ledger Joker, Batgirl, Riddler, Bat-Symbol, Comic Book Logo, Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy's Lips, a Back & White Comic Book Page ( Animated Series Two-Face ), an Homage to Carmine Infantino, & much more!! OK, This thing would be way to complex to explain so I'll just let the photos do the talking. I wanna thank Damien for sharing these photos. Man, your Bat-Tat is INSANE!! It really is a work of ART or, I should say, WORKS of art!

PHOTOS - Ultra-Rare VINTAGE 1996 BATMAN TOYS & MEMORABILIA!

OK, anybody who has been reading my Bat-blog for longer than 2 weeks has got to know that I am totally crazy for the cool Vintage Batman Toys! To be honest that's the total reason I created this blog. I know we try to cover all the Brand-New Products, Merchandise, & other Batman-Related News but it's the "Vintage Stuff" I'm really goo-goo for! Here's just a small example of some really great "Super-Rare" Memorabilia I have seen lately. The 1st item is a 1960's BATMAN Inflatable Pool Toy. I love both the Retro-Style Graphic & the shape of the thing. You know this would be really cool to hang on the wall for display! The next item is awesome too & beyond super-rare! It belongs to a Good Friend named Saul & he said he's been looking for this thing for many years. It's a Wooden Skateboard with Cool Batman Artwork. It was made by the Mettoy Company in England back in 1966. Yeah, this was only sold in the UK & is ultra-hard-to-find! I mean, it's practically a "Museum-Piece". He said it's one of his favorite pieces in his collection & that really means a lot because he has a TON of incredible bat-stuff from all over the world. The last pic is something that's not as rare but it's still pretty cool. It's an old 45 rpm Record with The Penguin telling a story with Burgess Meredith's actual voice. The graphics on the Record Sleeve are really great stock art drawn by Carmine Infantino & it also has an actual photo from the TV Show, all in one. Whew! I hope you guys liked some of these pics & if you have any ultra-rare pieces of Bat-Memorabilia you would like to share then please send us a photo today! Our e-mail button is always on the top right-hand side of this page.

Photos: 2 Vintage Batman Toys & a Comic Book Ad

The title for this post isn't too exciting is it? But the pictures are pretty cool. One of the toys shown here I have never seen before. It's the 1st picture with the BAT-COPTER Model Kit that has the original box, from the 1960's. I have never never NEVER seen this so it's gotta be super-RARE! Thank you Donald for sending the photo. The next item is pretty cool & also very obscure. This is the Batman Battery Tester from 1975. You know this item was fun to play with for hours & hours, ha ha! I do like the vintage graphics because it looks like Carmine Infantino art work. The last picture is an ad for SILLY PUTTY from inside a comic book. It's from the 60's & I thought it was kinda cool. Thanks again Donald for sending us the photo of this rare model kit. If any other members have photos of their RARE Batman pieces then please e-mail them to us. The Bat-Blog is ALL about sharing the love of collecting Batman...Thanx!!

BATMAN AD : Batman From The 30's To The 70's Hardback Book

Here's a picture sent in by a BAT-BLOG reader that I meant to share awhile back but like a moron put it in the wrong folder & didn't find it until now, ha ha. Sorry, Frank but thanks for a very cool picture of an original ad placed in a publication for bookstore owners to order books. It was an ad from the publishers of the now classic hardback book BATMAN FROM THE 30's TO THE 1970's! I had this book as a kid & still have it in my personal collection. It's one of my all-time favorite bat-items. It has some really great stories & wonderful graphics. In the picture up above you can see the large hardback book on the right, the ad is on the left side...nice! The artwork is done by classic Silver Age artist Carmine Infantino! Thanks again Frank for this piece of Bat-History!

Vintage Batman Toys: Puzzles

Recently the BAT-BLOG has sort of been bogged down with THE DARK KNIGHT movie news so I thought I would do a traditional posting that is about Vintage Batman Toys. Which, is the main function of this blog! Here's some nice examples of different Batman Puzzles made thru the ages. The 1st one is a 1966 Batman & Penguin Puzzle made by Whitman. The graphics are really wonderful with a cool vintage Batman-Logo. The next picture is one of those Batman "Canister Puzzles" made by APC from 1973. I always thought that the way they sold them in coffee cans was kind of neat. The graphics on this baby were done by the Classic Comic Book Artist Carmine Infantino...nice! The next puzzle is one of my favorites. It was made by Aurora of all companies. They specialized in slot cars & model kits but I guess since they had the rights to use Neal Adams' awesome artwork they went ahead & made this puzzle. The cool thing about this puzzle is that it is super-HUGE & when put together it's almost 9 square feet, GIANT-SIZE, & great for display on the wall!! The last puzzle is a wooden frame tray puzzle made by Playskool. It features the cartoon version of the Batman & Robin movie, very obscure!

Vintage 1960's Batman & Robin Artwork By Carmine Infantino Inspires Comic Book Covers!

The first image shown in this post is an icon in comic book history. This graphic of Batman & Robin posing on the edge of a Gotham City rooftop is super-famous. It was created by the Silver-Age comic book artist Carmine Infantino. It has been made into a Poster, a Vinyl Placemat, a Jigsaw Puzzle, graphics for a Batman Board Game, and it has even been a source of inspiration to many later comic book artists while doing a comic book cover, sort of an homage. The next few photos are just some examples. I have always thought this is a really great image & thought you might like these random covers, they're both cool & kinda funny. If you know of some others then please submit them by e-mail. Also, leave a comment & let us know which one you like the best.

Cool Batman Comic Book Cover, Issue #168

Here's a Classic Silver Age Batman Comic Book Cover of Batman #168. Just looking at the photo I think it was done by Carmine Infantino, a favorite artist here at the BAT-BLOG!

JOKER / BATMAN TOYS Both Vintage & Modern!

Checking my Bat-Files, ha ha, I noticed that I have collected a few photos of some cool Joker Toys ( both past & present ) so that gets to be the post of the day. The 1st photo is of a Joker Pin-Up Poster that was drawn by the classic comic book artists Carmine Infantino & Murphy Anderson. Ya gotta admit that this is a beautiful piece of ART! The 2nd item is the sheet music for THE MAN WHO LAUGHS. OK, This is not an official piece of Batman merchandise. But, this is the picture that inspired Bob Kane to help create the Joker & it's sorta famous among Batman fans & collectors. ( Notice I said, "helped" to create ). The 3rd item is an amazing example of Batman/Joker Memorabilia. It's the FIST-FIGHTING JOKER Mego 8" Doll in Original Box with Karate Kung-Fu Action! This was released in the 1970's & is EXTREMELY RARE!! ( Thank You Jimmy for sending that photo). Following the doll is a nice photo of the recent JOKERMOBILE Diecast car made by Corgi. Recently Corgi made a ton of these Batman-related vehicles, mostly many different variations of the Batmobile, but this is one of my favorites. The next pic is an example of a few DC Comics Mini-Mates "action figures" made by DC Direct. I really love the one of Harley Quinn. The last photo is very current but because of limited quantity is extremely RARE. Warner Bros recently gave away a few Joker T-Shirts has part of their DARK KNIGHT Movie Viral-Marketing Campaign. The t-shirt was presented in a gift box with the logo for a fake company called "Gotham Novelties, Inc". It's funny because it says, "Est. 1928", ha ha! The T-Shirt of Heath Ledger's face is kinda cool but I really love the beautiful gift box more. Whew! This was a lot to cover. If ANY readers have some really RARE or super-cool collections of Joker Memorabilia then please send us some photos to share...Thanks!

Kenner's SUPER POWERS 25th Anniversary Desktop Wallpaper!

OK, As sort of the very last post in this wacky promotion I wanted to leave everybody with some fun souvenirs to remember the whole event by. So, I made some "Super Powers 25th Anniversary" Desktop Wallpapers! In an earlier post I promised some more of the Classic Batmobile so here's a photo I hope you enjoy! It shows the Dynamic Duo sitting in their famous toy vehicle. Speaking of the Duo, the next image is just the Batman & Robin Action Figures by themselves, sort of simple & minimal. Plus, there's more! The Last background is the original comic art for the "Batman Super Powers" Model Kit Box done by Carmine Infantino. You might remember it in the "Products Section" ( See Above Posting ). Well, I hope you have enjoyed today's crazy event & please be sure to visit all the participating websites listed in the very 1st post. Thanks.
