I just discovered a Pop Artist in Australia who, right now, is totally inspired by Batman & other comic book imagery. His name is Johnny Romeo. He's mainly a painter but also makes prints & books. Judging his artwork you can easily see that he is inspired by both Jean Michel Basquiat & Andy Warhol. But I do have to admit that he's a great colorist. Plus these paintings do look pretty cool! Alex Ross Creates a CATWOMAN PAINTING For Animal Charity!

Just a few days ago, on November 13th, a charity auction on eBay sold this beautiful CATWOMAN Painting by Alex Ross for $3550.00. The piece measures 10 3/4" X 23" and has never been seen anywhere ( Be sure to click on it for a larger photo ). Alex Ross Stated,

"Animal rescue is one of my favorite causes. SAVED WHISKERS RESCUE does great work to save the lives of animals in need. Doing this painting for them was also a great excuse for me to illustrate a version of a character I love. It is a donation that I'm extremely proud of".

BATMAN and ROBIN -Inspired Paintings & Artwork!

OK, I guess I should apologize for all the postings recently about Batman ART. It's just that I really love ART & from the e-mails I get I know readers really love the Batman-Inspired pieces too...so here ya go! The 1st picture is a photograph I found on eBay awhile back of a guy who did a BATMAN & ROBIN painting with acrylic paint on canvas. I love the use of color & he also has a great style, sort of cartoon-like. Ya gotta admit, the picture is pretty cool! The 2nd photo is a photograph I found on the internet a few months ago but lost ( put it in wrong folder, yes I'm a moron ). This painting shows BATMAN & ROBIN in the 1966 BATMOBILE CAR!! It also has a cartoon-like look but the car is really detailed, nice job! It kind of reminds me of the art by "Big Daddy" Ed Roth, the wacky RAT FINK hot rod artist! Or really more like those cool Topps Bubble Gum Stickers with the Cartoon Hotrod Cars Monsters...remember those? I forget the name of those. Either way it's a very very cool piece. I hope you guys like these pics has much as I do, enjoy!

POP CULTURE Inspired Artwork Paintings BATGIRL ROBIN & GREEN HORNET!

Last week I was surfing thru the internet enjoying some cool webpages about art galleries & stuff. When all of a sudden I came across this one artist's page who does POP ART style paintings that are totally inspired from 1960's Pop Culture. The artist's name is Tommy Kane ( I don't think he's related to Bob Kane, ha ha ) & if you like his work then do a Google Search, beautiful stuff!! All of them were really great but I had to share these three with my readers because they are sort of Batman-Related. Original BATMAN POP ART PAINTING By Doug Bloodworth

I have a friend named Ducki who lives in Florida. There's a local artist there named DOUG BLOODWORTH & while checking out his website she came across this one piece of artwork that she knew I would like. It's a Pop Art Painting with a scene showing a Batman Comic Book & all the fixings for a Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwich ( click on it for a larger picture with more detail ). It's done in a sort of photo-realistic style & is totally awesome! Doug is really talented. He sort of bounces around in styles, mainly Western Art & Pop. Catwoman Gets Plastic Surgery

OK, I wanted the title to this post to be sort of like something you would read in the tabloids, ha ha! Here's the deal. You might remember awhile back we did a post about our friend Dallas who recently had a Batman Statue repaired & repainted because his small Son accidentally broke it. He had it totally customized by an artist friend of his & it looked pretty cool. Well, I guess Dallas really enjoyed it so he had his buddy do another one. The original Catwoman Statue is shown on the left & the picture on the right is the brand-new version. What do you think? I really like it & think it's very well done. I also love those goggles too! OTTO LANGE Batman-Inspired Artist Does Adam West Portrait

I know I have been on sort of an ART quest lately but it's still Batman-Related! Also, the responses in e-mails have been really good too. Here's an example of what I'm talkin' about. Here's a picture of an oil painting of Adam West ( from the 1966 TV Series ) done by a modern-day Pop Artist named OTTO LANGE. He's been doing some pretty cool stuff lately & will even have some of his Mego Doll paintings featured in the new Mego "World's Greatest Toys" Guide Book by Benjamin Holcomb. Andy Warhol BATMAN 60's LOGO PAINTING Art Exhibit Poster

Everybody who knows me personally knows that I am a total Andy Warhol Fan. So when my friend Jeffery sent me this pic of a cool poster with "Warhol AND Batman" I was pretty happy, ha ha. This is an extremely RARE Art Gallery Poster for an exhibit of Warhol's artwork in Torino, Italy. The event happened in 1989 & the actual graphic is a large painting that the Artist did in the 1960's. I love that they chose his "Batman Logo" painting for this. It was an early piece where he was still trying to be a little bit like an Abstract Expressionist. It's a famous piece of art that you really don't get to see very often. Awesome! Thanks Jeffery!

1966 Batman TV Show Inspired THE PENGUIN Painting!

Here's a photo of a Pop Art Painting I did for a friend's small son named Austin. They did their child's room with a retro theme & I thought this image of The Penguin was perfect. I found this picture in one of my Vintage 1966 Batman Board Games. It was on one of the playing cards & is sort of a common "clip art" drawing that appeared on many different bat-products. The painting was done with acrylic paint on canvas & was pretty BIG. He was really excited to see his new room, he's a great kid ( Hi Austin! ). The painting was displayed above his bed & he later told me it was his favorite part of his newly decorated space....that was kinda cool.

BATMAN MURAL OUTDOOR ART Location Unknown

Here's a really great photo I found awhile back, & it had a story, but I completely forgot all the details. Ouch, this is what it's like to be really old. Sorry. The thing I do remember is that it was painted on the side of a famous Comic Book Shop & has become sort of a landmark in it's hometown. "Go North down Main Street & then turn left at Batman", the locals say to tourists, ha ha. Be sure to check the BAT-BLOG ARCHIVES for many more posts with obscure Batman references like this! Batman Graffitti Art Mural : Memphis, Tenn.

Hey Readers, click on the small photo above to see it large, it's worth it! A friend to the Bat-Blog named Andy ( Memphis, Tennessee ) sent us this amazing photo. Andy wrote, "I have enclosed a photo of a painting of Batman that was painted on the side of a comic book shop here in Memphis, Tennessee. And here is the kicker, it was painted by...Jerry "The King" Lawler! Yes, THE Jerry Lawler of WWE wrestling fame! He is a Memphian and a fantastic artist. Unfortunately the painting is long gone. I took the pic about 10 years ago. I hope all the Bat-fans enjoy it. I have more Bat-stuff to send you soon. Thanks again and the Bat-Blog is Bat-tastic!" Wow Andy, another wonderful photo from you. Leon's ADAM WEST BATMAN COSTUME DISPLAY Gets a Beautiful Wall Mural!

Hey Bat-Fans, Remember awhile back we posted a few shots of a cool manikin our friend Leon got to display his Custom Adam West Batman Costume? Well, it looks like he extended that project & decided to paint a giant-size Wall Mural has a backdrop! Oh man, it's really cool & they did a great job on it. Basically they used a scene from the animated opening credits of the Classic 1966 TV Series. It's the graphics of Gotham City with the Bat-Signal in the sky. How cool is that!! Here's a few "before, during, & after" shots. Just check out the pics showing it completed, it's great!! Now, Leon has an even cooler Bat-Cave! ART: COMIC BOOK SUPERHEROES Painting by Allan Sanders

Last night I was goofing around on the internet when suddenly I discovered an extremely funny and very well drawn illustration of DC & Marvel Superheroes ( Click on the image up above for a larger, more detailed, version ). Actually it's a painting that was recently shown in the "Hot Rods & Hairy Beasts" art exhibit at the Coningsby Gallery, in London. The artist's name is Allen Sanders & he's from Brighton, UK. I thought I would post it here because it does have Batman, Robin, & the Batmobile! I had to find out more about this guy. So, I discovered that he has a website / blog called LOOPLAND. Homemade Batmobile - John's 1997 Cougar Batman Car!

OK, ya gotta love it when people customize their car into a Batmobile...it's wacky! Here are some fun photos from a guy I met online named John. He did some custom work on a 1997 Cougar & made it into the Ultimate Bat-Car! As you can see from the very 1st photo chicks totally dig the ride. Yes, there is a car in that photo (look to the right). Now in the next pic you can see the custom upholstery with the Bat-Logo on the seats. I like that everything inside is black & grey. Plus,I totally love that futuristic steering wheel, very cool! The next 2 shots show the outside of the car. You can really see the custom paint job with the Bat-Symbol on the sides & the hood. I guess it's important to say that they were shot while on a road trip up & down Route 66. Some pics were shot at the Texas border & the other one was in the mountains. I wanna thank john for allowing us to show off his cool Bat-Car & also invite all other Bat-Blog Readers who have made some Custom Batman stuff to send your pics in too.

COOL BATMAN Comic Book Art WALLPAPER BACKGROUNDS

The focus of this week's "Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday" is going to be some totally amazing Batman artwork! The 1st background uses some vintage 1960's comic art from an Italian BATMAN Comic Book Reprint. I'm not quite sure who the original artist was ( Is it Carmine Infantino's work? ) but it's just really great! The next one is a lot more modern-looking. This is a detail of a painting done by Joe Jusko for a charity auction at the San Diego Comic Con in 2007. The art is just amazing & has a highly realistic feel about it, very cool! Funny BATMAN HUMOR Photos and Comic Strips

Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha, whew! OK, we all need a good laugh every now & then so here's a nice sample of Batman Humor to enjoy. The 1st pic is a total parody on the classic "American Gothic" 1930 painting by Grant Wood. I saw the original painting a few years ago at the Art Institute of Chicago, it was amazing. But this version is pretty funny! The next graphic is a scene from the opening title of The Simpsons TV Cartoon where Bart is in school. It looks like he might have been talking trash about Batman, ha! The next picture might need a little explaining. In 1939 ( just before World War II ), the British Government created propaganda posters with the phrase "Keep Calm and Carry On" that citizens in England were to hang in their homes. Now, for whatever reason, they were never distributed but were later found in 2000 & have since become total icons. This graphic is a parody of that poster & totally funny! The last photo shows the Tumbler Batmobile ( The Dark Knight movie version ) racing at a Nascar event. I'm pretty sure that pic is photoshopped. Plus, Batman would totally be in first place, ha!
