Sony Entertainment just sent the following Press Release for their new DC UNIVERSE ONLINE Video Game ( with DC Comics ) & it's AWESOME news:
Victor Fries devoted his life to the hopeless task of curing his beloved wife, Nora from a fatal disease. He keeps her body frozen in suspended animation hoping that one day his experiments will cure her. One such experiment exposed him to a hail of super-coolants that altered his body chemistry. In order to survive, the brilliant cryogenicist must now be encased in his supercooled suit whenever the outside temperature is above sub-zero.
Although Batman offered to help Victor Fries, now known as Mr. Freeze, he refused because he was convinced that his own failures to save his wife are the fault of Gotham's Dark Knight. Armed with his Freeze Gun, Mr. Freeze partners with other criminals to steal the money he needs for his experiments and diamonds to power his freeze suit.

Well, it looks like DC Direct is going to release a few statues to capitalize on the popularity of it's new multi-player video game titled DC UNIVERSE ONLINE. Now, for people who have not heard of this game it's going to be a lot like "World of Warcraft" where you can become any DC Comics Comic Book Character & then enter the DC Universe ( Batman's Gotham City, Superman's Metropolis, & other famous places ). It's been totally art directed by Jim Lee so you know it will look extremely cool! In fact, he's the artist who designed each statue here: Batman & Catwoman! They are both a hand-painted, cold-cast porcelain figure measuring a little over 7" tall & will be packaged in a 4-color box. The release date is November 17th, 2010 so be sure to keep an eye out for them...MEOW!
Here's one of the best video clips I have seen so far from the brand-new BATMAN: UNDER THE RED HOOD Movie. It features Batman flying THE BATWING while in a car chase! ( Those Criminals don't have a chance, ha! ) The animation is looking very well done & I'm getting more excited about this new DC Universe animated film every single day! Remember, the DVD comes out on July 27th, 2010. Plus, I'm really liking the soundtrack's background music & sound effects...nice!
Here's a brand-new statue from DC Direct of THE JOKER as he appears in the new DC UNIVERSE ONLINE Video Game. I like that they went with a "classic comic book" version of the character, "The Clown Prince of Crime!" It's based on the artwork of Jim Lee. This statue will be hand-painted, cold-cast in porcelain and measure approximately 7.6" high x 5 1/4" wide x 2 1/5" deep. It will also be a Limited Edition piece. The retail price will be around $ 90.00 & it goes on sale near November 16th, 2011.
WOW! I know a lot of Batman Fans are totally excited right now about the next animated film from Warner Bros / DC Universe because they're doing BATMAN: UNDER THE RED HOOD. Well, here's what the cover art to the DVD will look like & a photo of one of the 1st product tie-ins to the movie. It's a hand-painted cold-cast porcelain maquette of Red Hood. This statue will be released by DC Direct around July 7th, 2010. It measures about 9 1/2" tall & will be very limited to only 1000 pieces. It was sculpted by Derek Miller. I always crack-up every time I see Harley Quinn with her giant-mallet hammer, ha! It's Classic! Well, some news from DC Direct shows us this brand-new DC UNIVERSE ONLINE STATUE of HARLEY QUINN based on the comic book art of Jim Lee. Now of course we're talking about the DCU Online Video Game. This is a nice series of statues with a lot of Batman-related characters. It's hand-painted, cold-cast in porcelain and measuring approximately 7" high x 4 1/2" wide x 3 3/4" deep. It will be a Limited Edition Statue, with an estimated retail price of $90.00, and will go on sale around November 16th, 2011.
William Baldwin is the new Batman! Well, he will be in the next animated DC Universe film, JUSTICE LEAGUE: CRISIS ON TWO EARTHS. The new movie has a release date of February 23rd, 2010. The MTV Splash Page just released a new video clip recently from BATMAN: UNDER THE RED HOOD. In the beginning there's a very short intro by Batman voice actor Bruce Greenwood. Then, we get to see some more action from the movie. This new animated film from the DC Universe will be released on July 27th, 2010 on DVD & Blu-Ray. The Premiere will be this year's San Diego Comic Con & most of the actors will be there. That list will include Bruce Greenwood ( "Star Trek" movie ), John DiMaggio ("Futurama" Cartoon ) as the Joker, Jensen Ackles ("Supernatural" TV Show ) as Red Hood, and Neil Patrick Harris ("Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog") as Nightwing.

This hand-painted, cold-cast porcelain bust measures approximately 6" high x 3 1/4" wide x 4 1/2" deep and is packaged in a 4-color box. Overall, the whole thing is very highly detailed. Batman is holding his Bat-a-rang & it looks very real too. The rope is actually a very thick wire & looks kinda neat. Also, the paint job on this baby is really great... the colors are extremely accurate! I could go on & on about how wonderful it is but if you win you'll see. Now, how to enter. I know a lot of Batman Fans are gonna be really excited to see this Clayface Action Figure even though it's a re-issue. Mainly because he's one character that's kinda hard to find... plus he looks extremely cool! This will be a part of the new DC Universe Classics toy line by Mattel. This special 2-pack is coming out in January 2009, so look for it then.
Here's a prototype picture from the recent 2011 Funko Toys Catalog showing the 2nd Wave of DC Universe POP! Vinyl Figures. Now the main reasons I'm listing them here is because one of them is Batman-related, Two-Face! But the other Superheroes are cool as well: Hawkman, Green Arrow, Aquaman, Martian Manhunter, & Shazam! Right now there is no exact release date but I'm guessing sometime around August. In this exclusive "Superman / Batman: Public Enemies" MTV movie trailer clip we get to see the evil Super-Villain Metallo beat-up on the Man of Steel himself, Superman! OK, There's NO Batman in this clip, but it's still nice to see that the animation quality looks pretty good. Also, be sure to crank-up your speakers because the sound effects are kinda cool. I can't wait till this new DC Universe Movie comes out tomorrow on Sept 29th...enjoy!
Hey Kids, it's Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday! We got some really great Batman Backgrounds this week so get ready! The 1st one uses some promo art from the new DC Universe Online game. It's a beautiful pin-up of the super villain Poison Ivy, hubba hubba! The next one is a close-up shot of a Custom Batman Munny Figure that was customized by a friend of the Bat-Blog ( He did a really great job on it ). I thought that both of these images would make fun wallpapers. What do you think? Here are some photos for the retail packaging ( prototype ) to some brand-new Batman toys to keep an eye out for in the future. These are SQUATZ Figures of popular DC Universe characters. There will be 6 to collect in the 1st wave: Batman, Joker, Penguin, Green Lantern, Flash, & Superman. Because of space limitations I'm just showing the Batman-related ones. Now, in each package you get 2 figures & one of them is totally unknown, a mystery! The way you find out who it is you put the figure in water & allow the special coating to dissolve. Then, you know who the mystery figure is, woo hoo! Sounds like hours of fun!! Actually, I'm really loving the retro-style characters presented on these cards. The figures look sort of cool too. OK, Warner Bros has not even released BATMAN: UNDER THE RED HOOD yet & they're already announcing another Batman-related animated film...AWESOME! Warner Premiere's next DC Universe animated movie will be titled SUPERMAN / BATMAN : APOCALYPSE ( Yes, I think Batman's name should have been listed first, ha ) will hit Blu-ray and DVD on September 28th. The movie is based on the second story arc, "The Supergirl from Krypton," from Jeph Loeb and Michael Turner's the "Superman/Batman." Plus, the exclusive animated short will feature Green Arrow, that sounds cool! This, and the cover art ( pictured below ), is about all we know about it so far. But, stay tuned to the Bat-Blog because you know we'll be telling you all about it!
OK, The new animated film from the DC Universe won't be released by Warner Bros for another 12 days, on September 29th to be exact. But many Batman Fans are pretty excited! It also stars some guy named Superman so that should be cool. All the teaser videos & trailer action I have seen so far make it look pretty good. The animation quality is very decent, & if the story is good, then it should be another great animated movie! Let's hope so.
