Beautiful BOX ART for the 1967 Aurora Batman TV Batcycle Model Kit

I received a very excellent photo in my e-mail box this morning from our friend Ed ( Be sure to click on the picture up above for a larger, more detailed, photo ). He wrote, "It's the box art for the 1967 Aurora Batcycle Model Kit. This comes courtesy of the Box-Art Den Yahoo Group. The Group owners take scans of plastic model boxes, regardless of condition, and restores the artwork. Once a week they offer high resolution scans for free download, or you can purchase high resolution prints from them of restored box art. The Batcycle was this week's offering." WOW! Custom BATCAVE MODEL Scaled For CORGI 1966 BATMOBILE DIECAST CAR

To celebrate this 250th post to the BAT-BLOG we thought we would do a very special story! Bob Kimball, a new friend to the BAT-BLOG, has these 2 awesome photos to share of a model BATCAVE DIARAMA SCENE he made. This is an exact replica model of the BATCAVE from the 1966 Batman TV Show done to the scale of the original 1960's Corgi Diecast Batmobile Car. So, the car was made by the classic toy company & everything else was made by Bob...WOW! The details to this model are extremely insane! He said he watched many hours of the TV show & freeze-framed certain moments to study the different elements of the Batcave because he wanted to capture the exact scale of every piece. It looks like he did just that & also did a great great job! He said, "This model took forever & ever to make!". As you can see in the photos it was lovingly pieced together & painted with great details! One pic has a coin to show the scale....nice! Thanx for sharing these pics with our BAT-BLOG readers Bob! John's 1966 BATMAN TV SHOW VINTAGE TOY & MEMORABILIA Collection Photos!

Here at the Bat-Blog we're always looking for Batman Collectors to share fun stuff with. Well, our friend John sent us some amazing pics of his collection the other day & because I have been so busy lately I have not been able to get them up here, until now! So, here they are. This is an extremely cool Batman Toy Collection! John's main focus seems to be on the 1966 Batman TV Series & it looks like he really likes Vintage Model Kits too. BATMAN RETURNS 1992 Movie Vinyl Model Kit: PENGUIN COMMANDOS!

Remember the PENGUIN COMMANDOS in the 1992 BATMAN RETURNS movie? I always thought they were extremely cheesy but, also, I do have to admit that they do look kinda cool! These were the animals that the Penguin ( Danny DeVito ) had brainwashed & loaded with weapons to terrorize Gotham City, ha ha! Well, Here are some amazing Vinyl Model kits of them built-up by our friend known as SKINNYBIRD. This guy is pretty talented and has great skill with painting & building models! BATMAN Custom Batmobile Model Kits By PANZER!

A new friend to the BAT-BLOG is a cool guy nick-named PANZER. This guy is extremely serious about doing Original Customized Batman Model Kits! What he does is dream-up some really cool Batman-related vehicle he would like to see, but does not exist & makes his own. I'm only showing a few examples here but this guy is super-productive! Vintage PENGUIN TOYS & MEMORABILIA Batman Villian

Here's a nice assortment of Vintage Batman Toys and Memorabilia featuring The super-villian THE PENGUIN. The 1st item, & probably the rarest, is the Penguin Batman Model Kit made by Aurora in 1966. This is an extremely RARE kit that you don't see everyday! I love the vintage graphics on the box. The next item is a 45 rpm Record where the sleeve is die-cut to the shape of the Penguin graphic, very cool! Plus, both songs are sort of "Penguin Related". The 3rd picture shows the Super-RARE PENGUIN PEZ Candy Dispenser. This was released by Pez in ©1976 & the unusual thing about it is the head is made out of rubber. In the same "rubber head" Super Hero set they also made Wonder Woman, The Joker, Batman, & Batgirl. The last photo shows a RARE 1970's Penguin Mego Action Figure 8" Doll in the original box. These Megos were usually "carded" so seeing one in the box is a treat. I mean, this baby belongs in a Vintage Toy Museum! 2 BATMOBILE CAR PAPER MODEL KITS : Free Download

A really cool webpage was brought to my attention the other day. It's a site for people to download paper model kits to make famous cars. They have these 2 vehicles there that I know Bat-Blog readers will love: The 1966 Batmobile from the TV Show ( George Barris' car ) & The Tumbler from Batman Begins Movie ( and soon, The Dark Knight ). These are FREE model kits you download as a PDF file & then print on your computer's printer using card stock paper. After that you cut the pieces out & then glue then together. Looking at the photos you have to admit that they are quite impressive. The attention to details are insane, ha ha! Be sure to click on the photo above for a larger picture where you REALLY see the details, crazy! Down below is a link to that wonderful page. Batman Model Kits: Jim Carrey's RIDDLER From Batman Forever ( 1995 ) Movie

Here's another Batman Model Kit built by our good friend known as "Skinnybird". This is THE RIDDLER from the 1995 BATMAN FOREVER Movie Starring Val Kilmer. OK, while this was not one of my favorite Batman movies, I thought that Jim Carrey did a pretty decent job of his performance for The Riddler. He's the sort of character actor who's good at playing a regular lovable guy one minute & then somebody who's totally insane & crazy the next. I also remember thinking that his Riddler costume was kind of accurate & very well made. I like his "Question Mark-Shaped Cane", a nice touch. Plus, if you're gonna be the Riddler, you gotta sport that famous Bowler Hat. Whoops, sorry about getting into the movie & Jim. This post is about the actual Vinyl Model Kit, ha ha! This Model Kit was made by Revell. It is 1/6th Scale so it's pretty big & great for display. I remember when these kits came out & my friend Steve bought this one. It's not bad! The details are very accurate & the face resembles the actual actor pretty well. I gotta say one thing. Our buddy Skinnybird did an extremely excellent job with this one! He sent us many photos of a large amount of Batman models he has made & we're gonna feature them every now & then. Kenner's SUPER POWERS 25th Anniversary - Look At The Spin-Off Products!

With the success of the SUPER POWERS Action Figure line there was a total frenzy in the 1980's to create many other products bearing the SUPER POWERS brand name & logo. Here are just a few other pieces of merchandise made ( Coloring Book, Paint Kits, Jewelry, Happy Meal Boxes, Videotape, etc... ) & a few comic book advertisements featuring the toys & VHS videos. Please remember that I'm trying to feature just items that were "Batman-related". Because, there were a ton more! In fact, these are not even ALL the Batman ones they made either...just a nice assortment, as an example. They are all pretty self-explanatory so I won't get into details. I just hope you enjoy drooling over them, ha ha! Well, I guess I do need to explain the weird "Joker Figure" because it's not an actual product but is a strange "Bootleg" made doll. But everything else is "real". Also, the last photo of the "Batman Super Powers Model Kit", I'm gonna feature the original art in the next post...whew!

CATWOMAN CUSTOM ART : Resin Model Kit & Adobe Illustrator Graphic

Included in this post are 2 really great examples of custom Catwoman artwork. The 1st post is a custom-made resin model kit of a Sexy Catwoman...MEOW! I found this while crusin' the net looking for Batman resin kits. This baby is a beautiful masterpiece of ART! I have totally lost the name of the artist & the URL of the website but if you're interesting in purchasing it I can hunt it down for you. The 2nd picture is one done by a friend of mine using, I think, Adobe Illustrator. It's a graphic of Catwoman's face, very minimal, & very well done. Thanks for sharing the picture Rob, great job! Custom 1966 BATMOBILE 1/6th Scale Model Kit with Batman & Robin Figures

I recently saw this amazing Custom 1966 Batmobile Model Kit on eBay being offered by Fa_Da_La Toys of San Francisco, California. Look at the photos, it's incredible!! It's a HUGE 1/6th Scale & totally handmade piece of ART! The details are insane. It's modeled after George Barris' Lincoln Futura car from the 1960's TV Show. It also included two 12" Batman & Robin figures. The Batmobile is made of FRP material ( Fiber Re-enforce Plastic ) with some diecast parts, high-gloss finish, ultra detailed chrome rims, & real rubber tires. It measures about 31" L x 12" W x 10 1/2" H. The auction ended on Oct 8th with NO bids but I bet they'll offer it again so if you're interesting then keep an eye out. TWO-FACE Vinyl Model Kit From The BATMAN FOREVER 1995 Movie ( Tommy Lee Jones Version )

For awhile now we have been featuring some awesome Batman Vinyl Model Kits made by our good friend known as SKINNYBIRD. He sent us some nice pics of his personal collection of models he has built & painted. Every now & then we feature one and the cool thing is that they're always very popular. Now, here's the one he did of TWO-FACE from the BATMAN FOREVER movie ( 1995 ). Of course he was played by Tommy Lee Jones. OK, to be honest, this is one of my least liked Batman films. It was really really bad & practically ruined the franchise. But I don't want that to take away from the fact that Skinnybird did an incredible job on this model kit. Just check it out, the paint job is extremely well done & I like the custom base he made too. If you look at TWO-FACE's Double-Sided Jacket it a ton of detail to it, with the animal print patterns, that must have taken forever to paint ( Get it? "forever", Sorry, bad joke ). Before I go I wanna say three things: 1. I wanna thank Skinnybird for sharing his pics with us, all the models are great & I love sharing them. 2. OK, I know that some people just totally love this movie. It might have been their 1st introduction to the Batman Universe & I totally respect that. So, please just take my comments about this being a crappy film with a grain of salt. It's actually worth viewing as a part of Bat-History. Also, if you go into with a certain attitude, it's really not that bad & can be kind of enjoyable. 3. BATMAN HOTROD CAR Resin Model Kit Design

The other day a friend reminded me of a wonderful website called SUGAR FROSTED GOODNESS. It's a site for "Graphic Design Nerds" ( I mean that in a good way, ha ha ) who appreciate good design in the skills of graphic & commercial art. It's also a neat page for visual eye-candy. While there I discovered a Graphic Artist / Illustrator named Chris Parks. He's from Wichita, Kansas & his main focus are corporate logos. He also likes to dabble in vinyl toy designs & came up with this amazing "Hot Rod Car" resin model kit featuring...Batman!!

And here's another photo of the packaging & another "paint variation" on the kit. I Actually like the 2nd one better! Mainly because the colors of Batman are more like the "comic book version". Click on it to see a larger, more detailed, photo. I also love the graphics on the box. They look a lot those "Weird-O's Hot Rod Model Kits" from the 1960's. Especially the font design...nice!

BATMAN VINYL MODEL KIT ( 1989 Michael Keaton Movie Version ) Built By Skinnybird!

For the next month or so, here at the Bat-Blog, we'll be featuring some Batman-related Model Kits built by a guy nick-named "Skinnybird". He's done an extremely excellent job on them & since it would be way too big for one post we thought we would spread them out. This first example is a Vinyl Model Kit of Michael Keaton as Batman from the 1989 Batman Movie. It was made by a company called Billiken & is 1/6 Scale! Personally I think he did a great job on it. The eyes look "alive" & that's usually the hardest part of making a "real-life human" model kit look so good. ( Remember, be sure to click on the above photos for larger versions ). Custom Batman BAT-CAVE Model Kit For 1966 Batmobile Hot Wheels Car

A friend to the Bat-Blog named Renato, from Argentina, has designed a really cool Custom Resin Kit of the original 1966 BAT-CAVE from the Batman TV Series. It's scaled to fit & display one of the new Hot Wheels Batmobile cars. The attention to detail is really excellent! On the left you can see the Bat-Poles where Batman ( Adam West ) & Robin ( Burt Ward ) would slide down. On the right is the Batcave entrance that the car can actually go thru. There are also some details like the Atomic Power Battery & Bat-Computers. The correct scale to everything is pretty good & we think he did a very good job on this. VINTAGE BATMAN TOYS: Johnny Lightning DC Comic Book 1960's Diecast 1/24 Batmobile Model Kits

I thought, for this post, we would revisit a cool Batman Toy from the recent past. In 2002 a toy company called "Johnny Lightning" was making a few Batman-related items that were extremely cool! Now, they made some diecast toys of the Batmobile vehicles of course but they also made these small 1:24 scale metal "screw-together" Model Kits. There were 4 in the complete set: The 1960's Batmobile Car, The 1950's Batmobile, The 60's Batboat, & my favorite, the Bat-Gyro! I remember when these came out & I thought it was so cool that they did such an obscure vehicle as the Bat-Gyro, ha ha! I mean, you never NEVER see this being made! Now another weird thing too was that these were kinda hard to find. I never really saw them much in the usual retail stores like Target & Wal-Mart but you could always find them at Hobby Specialist shops. I guess because they were more like model kits & not actual toy cars. But anyway, they're just great. Now for reference photos I could only find 3 of the original boxes, & I'm missing the one for the Bat-Gyro, but you get the idea. Plus, all 4 vehicles are shown here & you can see their TOTAL beauty.
