Auction News - Frank Miller BATMAN AND ROBIN Drawing

In "Batman Auction News" this week there was a special item on eBay that ended recently, some Frank Miller original artwork of BATMAN AND ROBIN as they appeared in his famous 1980's Graphic Novel, The Dark Knight Returns. It was drawn on DC Comics comic book cover stock paper ( measuring 12" X 17" ). Frank Miller sketched it in 1990 as a special 75th birthday gift to former DC Comics Editor Julius "Julie" Schwartz. This is a fully penciled and inked art illustration with a signed inscription from Miller on it, to Julius. The artwork is just totally wonderful, a great piece. The auction ended the other night at a closing bid around $11,300.00... WOW! I mean, who has that kind of money? Ha! But regardless of the price, it looks awesome & also has the bonus of having a lot of historical significance. Plus, I love that Robin is the "Carrie Kelley" version.

FRED HEMBECK'S Wacky Comic Book Cover Re-Creations!

Shown up above is a classic comic book cover re-creation by Fred Hembeck. For this one he did the 1st appearance of Batman in Detective Comics # 27, an icon. We're proud to say that Fred is a good friend of the BAT-BLOG & we actually hope he sees this post! I think he would be tickled pink about it, ha ha. PROFILES IN HISTORY Sells Jim Carrey's RIDDLER COSTUME on eBay!

OK, I've done a few posts in the past about this amazing auction company called PROFILES IN HISTORY. This company gets the most incredible Hollywood memorabilia to sell. Recently ( around Dec 14th, 2007 ) on eBay, they sold the original RIDDLER COSTUME worn, on screen, by Jim Carrey in the BATMAN FOREVER movie ( 1995 ). It sold for $10,000.00. Yes, you read that right, ten thousand dollars!! Then, they also sold the authentic RIDDLER COSTUME GREEN HAT. It went for $4000.00. I've been following this auction service for years & I'm sort-of a Fan. They have a very cool website you might like to check out sometime. Right now they're promoting a sale where you can get an original Terminator Movie 6 Ft-Tall Exo-Skeleton Statue ( used in the movie, extremely detailed ) & an original Jack Skeleton figure & Sled used in the Stop-Motion Animation of The Nightmare Before Christmas! These guys always have totally insane museum-quality items!! Here's a link!

BATMAN AUCTION RECORD? Ideal Utility Belt Sells For BIG Bucks!

Just the other night on eBay this "Mint In Box" Official Batman Utility Bat-Belt by Ideal ©1966 sold for $16,662.62. Yes, you read that right, Sixteen Thousand Six Hundred Sixty Two Dollars & some change!! I'm not exactly sure but I think that's gotta be a record auction price. Either way it's still wayyy outta my price range, ha ha! Now, the 1st picture was so beautiful that I made it a desktop wallpaper ( click on it to see the HUGE picture ). The 2nd pic shows the minty contents...sweet!

Auction : Original Batman Costume Mask Worn By George Clooney

Recently on eBay, a very cool auction company called PROFILES IN HISTORY auctioned off the original costume mask/cowl that George Clooney wore in the Batman & Robin movie. I can't remember the exact price but I think it went for $6,000.00. Now, that's a bargain for a one-of-a-kind piece like that! This company has also sold the original Batman, Robin, & Batgirl costumes, from the same movie, in previous lots. Those all brought around $12,000 each. This company always has the most impressive items. "Where do they get those wonderful toys?!", ha ha! The only company I can think of that might compete with them would be Heritage Auctions from Dallas, Tx.

GOTH BATMAN BABY Custom Art Doll on eBay

A while back I was goofing around on eBay looking at the current Batman Memorabilia being offered. While there I came across this extremely weird, but very well-made, "Batman Baby" Custom Doll. I feel bad now because I wanted to give the artist credit & mention his/her name but I forgot to bookmark it & much later discovered that all I had saved was this picture. Sorry Readers, if you search on eBay using the words "Custom Batman" you might be able to find more work from this person. In the mean time please enjoy the photos. Click on the photo for a way larger, more detailed, version. I think it's really cool because it looks so scary, it's also sort-of "Goth". The detailing is pretty good. Like I said, I wish I could have given the artIst credit because they deserve it...it's a work of ART!

I noticed over at eBay that "Philip Weiss Auctions" is offering an amazing piece of Batman art. It's the original Batman # 173 Comic Book Cover as drawn by CARMINE INFANTINO! The estimated price is around $25,000. Yeah, you read that right...twenty-five thousand! This is a little outta my price range but it's still wonderful to see. Shown up above is the original piece of art they're offering & next to that is a photo I found of the comic book ( for reference ). This is a great masterpiece of Bat-History!! Custom BATMAN Horse Saddle For Sale on eBay

OK, I was surfing through eBay the other night & came across this strange Custom BATMAN Horse Saddle. I thought I would share it because it's sort of both extremely weird & very awesome all at the same time. You know, kinda quirky.
