BATMAN & CATWOMAN Drawings by Art Baltazar ( TINY TITANS Artist )

We got to meet an extremely Famous Comic Book Artist recently named Art Baltazar! I mean, in real-life, in-person, not on the internet, ha ha! Art was visiting Oklahoma City ( where I live ) to do a speaking event at a local University on "The Magic of Comics". Later, he did a book signing ( & drew some awesome drawings ) at NEW WORLD COMICS, a local comic book shop. He's the creator & artist of TINY TITANS, a DC Comics title for children. He's the main artist of that comic book & it's always a lot of fun. Meeting him was kinda cool. In person, he's a very nice guy & very funny. He told me about how he has a hobby of customizing 8" Mego Dolls. He likes to make Superhero Characters that Mego never made. I've seen a small part of his collection & it's really neat. He also drew us a few sketches ( shown here ), which was pretty cool! For Kandye, he drew Catwoman ( Modern day version ) & he made me a drawing of Adam West as Batman. It's funny, all the artwork he did that day he would write the proper name of that character. Like, Catwoman's "real name" is Selina. The artwork was done with a Black Sharpee Pen & then he would color it with Crayons. It sort of replicates the look of his Tiny Titan's art. I wanna thank Art Baltazar for the awesome drawings he made for us & I hope to meet him again. His art style is very clever & if YOU would like to see more of his work then you can do so by clicking HERE! Also, be sure to keep reading TINY TITANS!!

Video: BATMAN Artist JIM LEE Drawing The JOKER!

One of my favorite Batman Comic Book Artists is JIM LEE. I have always loved his special "hyper-realistic" style. Seriously, He's a great draftsman! The video shows Jim Lee working on a Joker sketch at the Armageddon Expo, Melbourne, Australia on November 1, 2008.

BATMAN PARODY ARTWORK Comic Book Convention Sketches

Here are 2 wonderful pieces of original art I came across the other day while surfing the internet. The 1st one was drawn by Peter Laird. He's the co-creator of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! This was a drawing he did at a comic book con in 1987. It's a movie Alien Creature wearing Batman's costume & cowl! I think it's extremely awesome!! The next drawing ( which is also very awesome ) was done by Eric Talbot. I think he works at Mirage Studios, the company that cranks out artwork for the TMNT comics. It shows one of the Turtle characters dressed as the Dark Knight ...pretty funny!

BATMAN ART SKETCH By MIKE GRELL Comic Book Artist

Here's a really nice pencil sketch of Batman in profile done by classic comic book artist MIKE GRELL. Below that is a 1980's BATMAN comic book cover featuring his artwork. When I collected comic books hardcore back in the late 70's & early 80's I used to really love this guy's work. He was alot like Neal Adams in a way because he drew with alot of detail. His character facial expressions were great! You knew if the characters were shocked, happy, sad, etc..Anyways, I was kind of excited to discover that he has his own personal website. I've included it in the BAT-BLOG LINKS, which are located on the top right-hand side of this blog. If you've never heard of him you should go pay homage, it will be both a learning experience & a treat. If you're already a big fan of his work, like me, then you will really enjoy yourself! Before you leave here please be sure to BOOKMARK THE BAT-BLOG before ya go!

Video: BATMAN Comic Book Art - Drawing Sketch in Time Lapse

Here's a video showing you the different drawing stages in making comic book art like sketching, inking, coloring and final rendering. All is done with very cheap materials: like Faber Castell PITT Artist Pen, Letraset Twintip Markers ( they are not as expensive compared to Copic Markers ) and Watercolors. This is sort of a "How To..." Instructional Tutorial Video. So, anyone who loves drawing comics can do this without spending a lot of money & get a nearly professional result.

BATMAN "The Dark Knight" FAN ART From Finland!

I love getting e-mails & the chance to meet Batman Fans from all over the world. It's so cool to me that Batman is so popular in many different countries. It really says a lot about what a great character he is. Like, this morning, I got a message from a Bat-Blog Reader named Kai who sent these very interesting pieces of Batman art that he did recently. Kai is from Finland & I gotta say that I'm totally jealous he lives there, ha! His artwork is pretty good too & it's "The Dark Knight" movie-version of the character. It shows Batman ( Christian Bale ) wearing his "Sonar-Vision" Bat-Suit & carrying that gun he used to place charges on that building while he was in Hong Kong. That's cool! The 2nd pic is his original drawing & then the 1st one is the colored version he did in Photoshop. Kai, you did a very wonderful job on both of these. Thank you so much for sending them. I know a lot of people will really enjoy them. I want to invite all creative people from all over the globe to share their pics. It can be anything Batman-related: Art, Toy Collections, Tattoos, Graphics, Costumes, etc...Thanks!

One aspect of doing the Bat-Blog that I really love is getting to meet other Bat-Fans from around the globe. It's a really neat experience. Here's a perfect example: Here are some drawings sent in by a girl named Biadza, who is 21 years old & lives in France. Oh man, what a beautiful place. I have always wanted to go there. Anyways, she was kind enough to send some Batman-related artwork he did of Batman & the Joker. Both pieces are extremely original & I really like them. HARLEY QUINN Original Comic Book Art By BROHAWK!

Alright! I'm really proud to be showing off this amazing artwork done by a Bat-Blog Friend named BROHAWK. His real name is David Williams, but he's a black guy with a huge Mohawk hairstyle, so everybody calls him "Brohawk"! I love that nickname, pretty funny! But all kidding aside, he's a GREAT comic book artist! Check this out - Here's an amazing piece of art he done at a comic book convention back in 2008 ( Be sure to click on it for a larger, more detailed, version ). It's The Joker's favorite girlfriend, HARLEY QUINN! She's holding a fuse-lit bomb that I bet is intended for Batman, ha ha! The details to this thing are totally beautiful. I really like the coloring too, especially the eyes. I wanna thank David for sending this to me & I also wanna invite you guys to check out his website gallery for more nice art. You can do so by clicking HERE!

More DRAW BATMAN'S FACE Pictures!

HA HA HA HA, whew! OK, Lately we have been getting a few more drawings sent in by Bat-Blog Readers for the DRAW BATMAN'S FACE challenge. I gotta say that I'm putting them in the order we got them & this time they're all sort of crazy. I mean "crazy" in a good way! The 1st one is from our friend Ray. He decided to draw the Adam West version of the Dark Knight. For using the Microsoft DRAW program it turned out pretty great! The next 2 were done by our friend Gary. He said that the one with the scary face is the scene in the movie where Batman gets sprayed with Scarecrow's Fear Toxin ( it's awesome! ). The 2nd one is "Batman Dog Face", ha ha! The last one was drawn by a Good Citizen named Logan & it shows Batman enjoying a 3-D Movie ( IMAX maybe? ). It's pretty cool! I wanna thank everyone who sent these in. All you guys are totally great Graphic Artists!!

Recent Entries To My "DRAW BATMAN FACE" Art Challenge!

I recently posted a piece of art showing Batman with NO face & dared people to draw one on. Well, I got a few emailed to me & I gotta say that I'm very proud of all of them. All the artwork is really great! So, here they are. I'm not posting them in any "favorite order", but I'm posting them in the order that they were received. The 1st two were done by David Morefeld. He did one of Batman but added the "Turtle" because the whole thing reminded him of that famous "Art School Contest", that's hilarious! Plus, his Batman Drawing is really great! The 3rd one was created by Kai Kumpulainen. The shadowing & realistic detail is very good. Especially when you consider that he drew it with crappy software. Can you imagine what he could have done with some Adobe Illustrator? He did a really GREAT job! The 4th one is from our friend Timothy San Fllippo. WOW! He went all totally crazy adding color & a funky background ...love it! The last one is from our buddy Zdravko Genov, who lives in Bulgaria. He said that all he had was MS Paint. But regardless of this his sketch is still really wonderful. I totally love all of these & wanna thank everyone who participated. I thought it was a fun art experiment & was also surprised by how many people took me up on the challenge....Well Done, Gentlemen.

Batman Artist: BRIAN BOLLAND Comic Book Cover Preliminary Sketch

Here's a very cool photo showing the preliminary sketch done by Brian Bolland for the cover art to Batman # 445. I remember reading this story-arch & it was one of my favorites. The Batman went to Russia. Looking at this cover you can see the amazing detail that Brian Bolland went into. I really like his attention to realism, a great comic book artist for sure!

Matt Wagner's Original Production Art For Batman: Black and White Statue

Shown up above is the original production art drawings for Matt Wagner's "Batman: Black & White" Statue. They now belong to a good friend of the Bat-Blog known as The BATFAN & he was kind enough to share them with us. Seeing this sort of work always amazes me. I guess I have always enjoyed the "behind the scenes" type stuff. Basically they are the sketch designs for the statue based on his own artwork. If you click on the small pictures up above then you can see larger, more detailed, shots. Wagner's comic book artwork has always been a real favorite of mine, so getting to see these original sketches is a RARE treat. Thanks to BATFAN for sending them & I hope many readers enjoy them as well.

In the DC comic book world everybody is sort of freaking out over the new Costume Design for the Batgirl comic book character. So, I thought I would post the original design art sketches that Lee Garbett did for her. He's the guy responsible for the new look. Plus, as a bonus, here's a sneak peek at the new Batgirl Action Figure that will be released later. Batman Artist's Original Comic Art Sketches

Now of course, the BAT-BLOG is ALL about Batman! Not just the cool vintage toys & even new toys but also the love of the comic book & original art work! Here are three really great examples of Batman artists. The 1st drawing was done by Dan Adkins in 2007 & is a really great picture. I like how he did the shadow in an orange-red color just to add a little flair, way cool. The 2nd piece of art was done by none other than Rudy Nebres in 1978, a Classic!! The last one was sketched by Bob McLeod & we're not exactly sure of the date but it looks like 2007. We hope you enjoy these & please remember to check the BAT-BLOG for many more examples of great Batman Comic Book ART!!
