BATMAN & CATWOMAN Drawings by Art Baltazar ( TINY TITANS Artist )

We got to meet an extremely Famous Comic Book Artist recently named Art Baltazar! I mean, in real-life, in-person, not on the internet, ha ha! Art was visiting Oklahoma City ( where I live ) to do a speaking event at a local University on "The Magic of Comics". Later, he did a book signing ( & drew some awesome drawings ) at NEW WORLD COMICS, a local comic book shop. He's the creator & artist of TINY TITANS, a DC Comics title for children. He's the main artist of that comic book & it's always a lot of fun. Meeting him was kinda cool. In person, he's a very nice guy & very funny. He told me about how he has a hobby of customizing 8" Mego Dolls. He likes to make Superhero Characters that Mego never made. I've seen a small part of his collection & it's really neat. He also drew us a few sketches ( shown here ), which was pretty cool! For Kandye, he drew Catwoman ( Modern day version ) & he made me a drawing of Adam West as Batman. It's funny, all the artwork he did that day he would write the proper name of that character. Like, Catwoman's "real name" is Selina. The artwork was done with a Black Sharpee Pen & then he would color it with Crayons. It sort of replicates the look of his Tiny Titan's art. I wanna thank Art Baltazar for the awesome drawings he made for us & I hope to meet him again. His art style is very clever & if YOU would like to see more of his work then you can do so by clicking HERE! Also, be sure to keep reading TINY TITANS!!

BATMAN PARODY ARTWORK Comic Book Convention Sketches

Here are 2 wonderful pieces of original art I came across the other day while surfing the internet. The 1st one was drawn by Peter Laird. He's the co-creator of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! This was a drawing he did at a comic book con in 1987. It's a movie Alien Creature wearing Batman's costume & cowl! I think it's extremely awesome!! The next drawing ( which is also very awesome ) was done by Eric Talbot. I think he works at Mirage Studios, the company that cranks out artwork for the TMNT comics. It shows one of the Turtle characters dressed as the Dark Knight ...pretty funny!

His name is "BroHawk" & he's an extremely talented graphic artist ( mostly comic books ). So, you know this thing is gonna be awesome! I'm actually kind of excited about it & hope he sends us some photos later...can't wait to see it. Thanks to BroHawk for sending the cool artwork & hey, get busy!

FINE ART: Biadza's BATMAN and JOKER Drawings!

One aspect of doing the Bat-Blog that I really love is getting to meet other Bat-Fans from around the globe. It's a really neat experience. Here's a perfect example: Here are some drawings sent in by a girl named Biadza, who is 21 years old & lives in France. Oh man, what a beautiful place. I have always wanted to go there. Anyways, she was kind enough to send some Batman-related artwork he did of Batman & the Joker. Both pieces are extremely original & I really like them. Now, I wanna thank Biadza for sending these in, they're wonderful. And, as always, I want to invite any other creative people to send their work in too. Remember: Sharing the love of the Batman Universe is the main function of this site.

More DRAW BATMAN'S FACE Pictures!

HA HA HA HA, whew! OK, Lately we have been getting a few more drawings sent in by Bat-Blog Readers for the DRAW BATMAN'S FACE challenge. I gotta say that I'm putting them in the order we got them & this time they're all sort of crazy. I mean "crazy" in a good way! The 1st one is from our friend Ray. He decided to draw the Adam West version of the Dark Knight. For using the Microsoft DRAW program it turned out pretty great! The next 2 were done by our friend Gary. He said that the one with the scary face is the scene in the movie where Batman gets sprayed with Scarecrow's Fear Toxin ( it's awesome! ). The 2nd one is "Batman Dog Face", ha ha! The last one was drawn by a Good Citizen named Logan & it shows Batman enjoying a 3-D Movie ( IMAX maybe? ). It's pretty cool! I wanna thank everyone who sent these in. All you guys are totally great Graphic Artists!!

Recent Entries To My "DRAW BATMAN FACE" Art Challenge!

I recently posted a piece of art showing Batman with NO face & dared people to draw one on. Well, I got a few emailed to me & I gotta say that I'm very proud of all of them. All the artwork is really great! So, here they are. I'm not posting them in any "favorite order", but I'm posting them in the order that they were received. The 1st two were done by David Morefeld. He did one of Batman but added the "Turtle" because the whole thing reminded him of that famous "Art School Contest", that's hilarious! Plus, his Batman Drawing is really great! The 3rd one was created by Kai Kumpulainen. The shadowing & realistic detail is very good. Especially when you consider that he drew it with crappy software. Can you imagine what he could have done with some Adobe Illustrator? He did a really GREAT job! The 4th one is from our friend Timothy San Fllippo. WOW! He went all totally crazy adding color & a funky background ...love it! The last one is from our buddy Zdravko Genov, who lives in Bulgaria. He said that all he had was MS Paint. But regardless of this his sketch is still really wonderful. I totally love all of these & wanna thank everyone who participated. I thought it was a fun art experiment & was also surprised by how many people took me up on the challenge....Well Done, Gentlemen.

Matt Wagner's Original Production Art For Batman: Black and White Statue

Shown up above is the original production art drawings for Matt Wagner's "Batman: Black & White" Statue. They now belong to a good friend of the Bat-Blog known as The BATFAN & he was kind enough to share them with us. Seeing this sort of work always amazes me. I guess I have always enjoyed the "behind the scenes" type stuff. Basically they are the sketch designs for the statue based on his own artwork. If you click on the small pictures up above then you can see larger, more detailed, shots. Wagner's comic book artwork has always been a real favorite of mine, so getting to see these original sketches is a RARE treat. Thanks to BATFAN for sending them & I hope many readers enjoy them as well.

Sonic 1002: Artist Inspired by The DARK KNIGHT Batman Movie

A friend of mine sent me this link to an artist who, very recently, was totally inspired to make some artwork based on The DARK KNIGHT Batman movie. I gotta agree with my friend that his work is pretty good! I mean, it's cool when people are creative about their appreciation of the Batman character. Anyway, he's done some very neat graphics of Batman ( Christian Bale ), Two-Face ( Aaron Eckhart ), & The Joker ( Heath Ledger ). The artist's name is Josh but he goes by the nickname "Sonic1002"...well done Josh! Here's a link if ya wanna check out more of his drawings & photo manipulations. http://sonic1002.deviantart.com/gallery

New Book - ICONS - The DC Comics and Wildstorm Art of Jim Lee

Here's a very cool comic art book you might consider on your next trip to the bookstore. It's titled "ICONS, The DC Comics and Wildstorm Art of JIM LEE". Basically it's a retrospective of his prolific artistic career. In this volume, Titan Books has completed the almost impossible task of compiling a generous amount of the last twenty years of Jim Lee’s work. Batman fans should totally love it because there is a ton of Bat-Art! There are also a lot of preliminary sketches that have never been seen before. Now, it's important to note that there are 2 different printings of this book. There's the regular edition with 296 pages. It's the one shown with a "Color Cover". Then, there is a "Previews" Special Edition, with the "Pencil Sketch" cover. The previews Edition has 8 additional pages & the variant cover. It's a little harder to find, but you might be able to get one using the link button down below.

CRAZY CRAZY BATMAN! The Art of GRANT HUNTER!

One of my favorite things about the internet is getting to meet new people from all around the world. It's so cool how you can just spark a casual conversation with somebody, anywhere! Like here, I recently met this guy named Grant Hunter. He's an Artist & Illustrator living in Newcastle, Australia. His artwork is really great! It looks sort of child-like and very abstract. It's also slightly Gothic looking too. Well, I'm sorry, it's really kind of hard for me to describe but if you look at it you'll get the idea. It's some very cool stuff!! Shown here are 2 recent Batman Drawing he has done. Also, if you wanna see more than just click HERE!

The Art of RAFAEL NAVARRO : Catwoman, Batgirl, & Retro Batman

Here are 3 very stylized graphics of Catwoman, Batgirl, & a Retro-Style Batman. These were done by commercial artist & graphic designer Rafael Navarro. ( Thanks for the pix, Rafael! ) He told me he's currently doing the animation storyboards for the new season of THE BATMAN cartoon. Since 1996, Rafael has self-published the Xeric Award winning comic book SONAMBULO. He has a website for that comic. It's a pretty cool site with some great artwork. Here's a link to check out that character.

Batman Artist JIM LEE On The Set Of The CATWOMAN Movie

OK, I know that The CATWOMAN movie with Halle Berry is one of the worst movies of all time but she still looks pretty good in that tight black leather cat-suit, MEOW! While filming in Canada the famous Batman Comic Book Artist Jim Lee got to visit the set and, while there, drew a classic image of Catwoman. The 1st photo shows him drawing. The next one is him showing his original artwork to Halle. I thought that fans of his art would get a big kick out of this. Plus, he got to meet THE Halle Berry...lucky!

Batman 70th Anniversary Tribute at The Drawing Board!

I was recently e-mailed a link to a website that I found out was totally cool! It's a special Message Board for Artists, Illustrators, & other Creative people who all like to showcase their artwork plus share tips on art techniques. It's called the Drawing Board! One of the neat things they do there every now & then is they have a thing called a "Character Jam". They pick a character or person, then everybody participates by posting their version of the character, in their own special style. Well, recently they did a "Batman Jam". It was created to commemorate the 70th anniversary of his first appearance in Detective Comics # 27 ( May 1939 ). Now, once I got there I learned that there must be a lot of Batman Fans there because they all submitted a ton of great art. So to be fair, I picked a few at random because of space limitations I couldn't post them all! But, I wish I could have because they're all so really really great! Please enjoy the samples shown here & then if you would like to see more then just visit this LINK!

Ted Naifeh's BATMAN BOOK Conceptual Design Art

Shown up above are a few panels of Batman-related artwork created by a very talented Graphic Artist named Ted Naifeh. Ted's plan is to pitch a new Batman Book idea to DC Comics. You see, he has taken the Batman Universe & sort-of recreated it in his own unique style. Most of the characters are easily recognizable like: Scarecrow, The Penguin, Catwoman, The Mad Hatter, & so on but they're also just a "little different". He's been working on this concept for awhile & has created a ton of cool pencil sketches & inked drawings to back-up his idea. If you visit his website there is way more art to enjoy: The Joker, Batwoman, Robin, Batgirl, etc... It's gonna be interesting to see how this project comes along. So, if you wanna see more of Ted Naifeh's Graphic Art, & also keep up to date with what is going on, then please be sure to visit his website by clicking HERE!

Chris Mason's Art Sketches of 1966 TV Batman & Robin!

POW! A friend on Facebook recently did some extremely awesome drawings of Batman & Robin from the 1966 TV Show. Of course we're talking about Adam West & Burt Ward: The Caped Crusader & The Boy Wonder!! The artist's name is Chris Mason. You can tell that Chris is a huge fan of this classic television series because of the love that went into these drawings. The details are really sharp & my favorite one is the 1st one with the scene from the 60's movie where Batman tries to get rid of a bomb, "Some days you just can't get rid of a bomb"! Thanks for letting me post these Chris. I know that a lot of Bat-Blog Fans are gonna really love these, they're GREAT! ZAP!

Oh yeah, if you're a Facebook Member then please add the Bat-Blog!
