Paul's Weird & Wacky Batman Toys / Collectibles

Every now & then Bat-Blog Readers send in photos of their toy collections. I always love that! But the funny thing about this post is that our friend Paul responded to a few pics shown here once that were of "Weird Batman Toys". So, he decided to send us photos of some of his strange bat-stuff... that's hilarious! OK, so the main focus here are 3 really unusual items: a Pair of Holographic Buttons with images of Batman & Joker ©1989, a Set of Ceramic Salt & Pepper Shakers of 2 British Comedy TV Show Characters Dressed-Up as Batman & Robin, & 2 Bizarre Troll Dolls that are sort-of dressed like Batman. Now the last photo is on a more personal level. The Corgi Diecast Penguin Car & 1966 Batmobile are not really weird but are more along the lines of "Bat-Toys that Paul owned as a little kid". Which, for him makes them special because they have sentimental value. And I totally understand & think it's wonderful. I have a few items that were given to me by my Grandmother when I was very little & they're actually the most valuable pieces in my collection...and I'm not talking about "money value" either. One last thing, in case you're kinda freaked out about the Salt & Pepper Set. I really love these guys. They look EXACTLY like the 2 actors from the British UK TV Show Sitcom called "Only Fools & Horses". One year they had a Special Christmas episode where the 2 main characters dressed-up as the Dynamic Duo for a costume party. It turned out to become a cult classic. Here's a clip! Oh yeah, and Thanks to Paul for sending the great pics of the neat stuff, Thank You Paul!!

Music Video: BATMAN AND ROBIN Comedy Skit with Neil Innes!

Our buddy Kenneth sent us this extremely rare Vintage BBC British Television video showing Neil Innes as Batman doing a Batman-themed comedy skit. Andy Roberts is playing the guitar, dressed as Robin. Now, the name of the show was "Rutland Weekend Television" & was written by Eric Idle. I know everybody would recognize him as one of the main actors in the Monty Python & The Flying Circus TV comedy team ...just do a quick search on the Internet & you'll know who he is! In the mean time, enjoy this super-wacky crazy song called "Boring". WARNING: You will not be able to get this song out of your head for the rest of the day, ha ha!

Vintage Video: Tumbler Batmobile from Batman Begins Movie on British TV

Here's an interesting video from a few years ago when the Batman Begins movie was being talked about. This footage is from a British TV Talk Show in the UK called TOP GEAR. It stars Richard Hammond and James May. Be sure to listen to the cheeky comment made at the very end of the video...it's kinda sarcastic but also pretty funny!

Vintage 1960's BATMAN AND ROBIN Washington Pottery UK

You're not going to find these BATMAN AND ROBIN Mugs ( Coffee Cups ) in any retail store today. These babies were made in the 1960's by Washington Pottery of the UK... probably around 1966, to capitalize on the popularity of the TV Show. In fact, they were only sold in England & are kinda hard to find. Well, thanks to the Internet they're not extremely rare. Here are some pics sent in to me by a friend of mine who collects pottery. He knew that I would love these. I do, they're great! Now all I have is one mug & somewhere I have a small platter. Unfortunately they're in deep storage. Yes, they also made Batman Plates, Patters, Bowls, and ( I think ) even an Ashtray! But for now we have these photos to drool over ( Thanks Dave ). The graphics are totally vintage & completely wonderful. Seriously, I love the sharpness & color. The one with the Batmobile car is just beautiful.

Video: Rare 1988 ADAM WEST INTERVIEW on TV-am Show

Back in 1988 Adam West appeared on British television's TV-am. He was there to discuss a "possible Batman movie" that could be made. I think he sort of knew that the 1989 BATMAN film was in development & he really wanted the part. Of course we all know that Michael Keaton ended up getting the role. The interesting thing here is that Adam West thought the new movie should be "darker" or "more modern".

Video: 1989 Batman Merchandise - Spitting Image UK TV Show

Here's a really funny video clip from the 1980's British Comedy TV Show SPITTING IMAGE. The show only aired for a short time in the USA but is now a cult classic. In this clip they did a parody of the "merchandising hype" of the 1989 Tim Burton Batman movie. They used special puppets that were extremely detailed & also perfect caricatures of the actors ( or politicians ) that they were making fun of. They used to do some skits with Ronald & Nancy Reagan that were pretty brutal! One last thing. This video was sent in by a friend to the Bat-Blog named Jeffery so I wanna thank him for that...This is hilarious, thanks!
