Original BATMAN Comic Book Art for Wizard Magazine Cover

Shown up above ( on the left side, duh ) is the original comic book artwork of Batman for the May 2005 Issue # 163 of Wizard Magazine. The artist's name is Mike Mayhew & he did a spectacular job! ( Be sure to click on the small graphic to revel a larger, more detailed photo ). It shows the Caped Crusader in a very angry mood with his hand slamming down on the Justice League of America conference table, even breaking it! But hey, he a super-billionaire & can afford to buy the JLA a new one, ha ha! I wanna invite ANY Bat-Blog Readers who own original art to send us some pics. There is always an e-mail button on the top right-hand side of this page.

Ideal 1966 Official BATMAN & JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA PLAY SET, Mint In Box!

A good friend to the BAT-BLOG, named JOKERSCROWBAR, recently posted a photo at the BAT-BLOG Message Board of the Super-RARE BATMAN & JUSTICE LEAGUE of AMERICA PLAY SET made by Ideal ©1966. This Vintage Toy is a Holy Grail to many toy collectors & not just for people who collect Batman or Superhero-related items either. It's just an extremely cool toy with great visual appeal! Plus, it's extremely RARE! The original box is really large with a big window to see the contents inside. It came with small plastic figures of the superhero team & many accessories too, like the Batmobile & Bat-Plane! The superheroes included Batman, Robin, Wonder Woman, Superman, Aquaman, & Flash!
Here's a LINK to that posting with many more photos & while you're there you might as well JOIN THE BAT-BLOG Message Board, it's FREE!

PHOTOS: 2 New Custom Toys ANIMATED BATGIRL DOLL & PIXAR CARS BATMOBILE ( 1966 Version )

Just the other day I received 2 cool photos from friends who enjoy Batman Custom Toys. The 1st one is from our good friend MILOTIK who likes in Argentina. He recently found this Batgirl Custom Figure Doll that was made from a Justice League Unlimited Wonder Woman. She looks really beautiful & the attention to detail is very good, a really nice custom doll!! I mean, her face & costume look super-great!! In Argentina they call her LA BATCHICA! I love that name, ha ha. The 2nd photo is from a friend named Tony who resides in Chicago. Tony is sharing a Custom Toy of a Pixar's Cars Movie vehicle that is a 1966 Batmobile. The idea is "what-if" a '66 Batmobile was in the animated cartoon & what would he look like. This is a great looking car! It's a very clever idea & well executed, good job guys! We wanna invite ANY Custom Toy Fans to send us photos of their creations. We love it when people get creative with their love of Batman characters, that's awesome!

Vintage 1960's BATMAN TOYS and MEMORABILIA To Drool Over!

I have been covering a lot of news lately about a lot of the brand-new Batman Toys that are out there to collect & thought I'd do a post about some wonderful old vintage toys. The 1st photo is an amazing piece of Bat-History & also quite rare. It's the 1966 BATMAN BAT-WATCH by Amsco. This item is really beautiful. I mean the watch, with moving bat-hands, is very cool but the vintage graphics on the card are really great! I like the bright simple primary colors...nice! The next piece has a lot of graphic style also. It's an original bread wrapper for BATMAN BREAD! It too is from the mid-1960's. This pic was sent in by a Bat-Blog Reader named Wes who wanted to share this rare piece in his personal collection ( Thank You Wes ). The last photo is an item that is probably the most rare of all. It's a Justice League of America Rubber-Figure Set, Mint on Original Card. It was made by Multiple Toymakers ©1967. The figures include: Aquaman, Superman, Batman, & Wonder Woman. One thing about it that totally cracks me up is the original retail price back then was 19 cents!! Do you have any Vintage Batman Toys or Memorabilia in your toy collection that you would like to share? If so, then please e-mail us a photo today! The Bat-Blog is all about sharing the love of collecting, thanks.

Baby Desmond ( The Littlest Bat-Fan ) Models new DC Superhero & Batman T-Shirts From Target!

You might remember awhile back we featured an adorable photo of a super-cute baby boy named Desmond, wearing a special Batman Toddler T-Shirt. Well, he's growing-up like crazy & here's a more recent photo. Look at him, he is sooooo CUTE! Plus, I love the great smile on his face too. I guess being a Batman Fan makes him happy, ha ha! His parents, Seth and Melissa, wrote this wonderful letter with their e-mail:

"Just wanted to share the great new Baby T-Shirts that we just found at Target. They finally came out with Batman shirts!!! Desmond , now 4 months old, was featured on the Bat-Blog in May in his only Batman shirt...but now he has two more and Daddy couldn't be more proud! So Desmond ( the Littlest Bat Fan ) wanted to model this fall's Baby Batman Line from Target :) Thanks for the Bat-Blog...We all luv it!!!"

Wow! Thanks Guys. Desmond is getting way bigger & I seriously love these pics, thank you. Also, thanks for all the kind words about this blog, I appreciate that. Please keep us updated to how Desmond is doing. Now, Y'all HAVE to get him a Bat-Cape to go with his outfit, ha ha!

FIRESTORM DC Comic Cancelled ~ Send a Message!

I know this is NOT Batman related but it does involve DC Comics so I thought some readers might find it important. The comic book FIRESTORM is gonna be cancelled & a friend of the Bat-Blog is pretty upset about it. He wrote, "I'm a little disappointed that Firestorm is being cancelled but there are rumors that he will be on a team soon ( maybe even the JLA ). That takes some of the sting out of this & in a couple of years he might even get another shot at his own title again. Wasn't the original Firestorm run cancelled in its first year? By the way, have you written DC a letter? It might not make a difference on the cancellation, but it’s important that DC knows this character is important to fans. I wrote a letter last Fall and got a personal response back from Jann Jones. DC has the coolest letterhead I’ve ever seen. Write them a letter and make sure they keep Firestorm active in the DCU.

Please pass the word:

BAT-PLANES: Different Vintage Batman Airplanes

With the BAT-BLOG I always strive for variety & there seems to be so many different angles on the many aspects of the character that I can do that. One thing I do is collect pictures for awhile until I see a pattern. Here's an example: Tonight, out of the blue, I noticed I had a lot of pics of many different Vintage Batman BAT-PLANE TOYS. So, here's some examples of Bat-Plane Toys made thru the years. The 1st one is probably the rarest of them all & was made in 1966. It's a beautiful Bat-Plane that looks more like a military cargo plane than a plane he would actually have. The 2nd piece of Bat-Memorabilia is this 1970's Bat-Plane that is really cute. Yes it is, it's the cutest little plane ever, yes it is. This was contributed by a friend at the BAT-BLOG Message Board. I personally don't have this item in my collection & wish I did, it's cool. The 3rd bit of Bat-Nostalgia is a Bat-Plane from Canada, called the BAT-GLIDER. It's actually a Vintage "bootleg" Batman toy put out during the 60's to rip-off the TV Series, kind of funny! The last photo is the extremely hard-to-find Bat-Plane that was an accessory in the Batman Justice League of America Play Set made by Ideal ©1966.
